I spent so many runs trying to use Zag Aspect Special like a shotgun, getting as close as possible to have all the arrows hit one enemy. It worked, surprisingly, especially with charged shot. For some reason my brain just could not comprehend that Chiron Aspect worked like that except a million times better, until I saw a Haelian Chiron run... My foolish brain is thankful
I feel ya. Bow was already my favorite weapon as soon as I got it and I was also trying to shotgun enemies with the special. When I got Chiron, read the description and tried it on Skelly to make sure I had read correctly, my jaw dropped to the floor like an anvil. Personal favorite aspect of the game.
As I've gotten better at the game I think my favorite thing to run has quickly become Chiron bow. One of the most fun builds I've found has actually been Aphro attack and Poseidon special. Poseidon also offers % based boons but since the bow is a ranged weapon the knockback on the special can actually be quite helpful especially vs enemies that like to be up in your face like the large chariots in Elysium (though if the arrows circle around the enemy and hit their back it can actually knock them closer to you which is a bit of a pain). Aphro attack does a lot of damage even at low levels and causes a 1 hit curse so if you can get Razor Shoals you basically have permanent Priv Status. For hammers ideally I like Relentless and Concentrated Volley but it even works with neither. Athena dash is obviously still really good and if you pair it with exposed it's just another way to apply that Priv Status. Since the bow hits so many times it's a good opportunity to get a nice call too, I've found myself building up full calls twice in Theseus fight and almost 3 times in Hades fight. Personal favorite call to get is Athena because at just a few upgrade levels the full call lasts for like 5 years and you can just continue to spam the attack and special. Worth noting is that a Hermes special speed boon, even at common rarity, is surprisingly not useless because it actually lets you get your special off 4 times instead of 3 after marking an enemy, or lets you special-dash-special-dash-special before the marking wears off. It also just makes sure you aren't stationary for as long which in a game like Hades is always useful.
I've had good results taking piercing volley as a second hammer after charged volley. You can really clear rooms quickly with it, and it makes the shielded enemies in Elysium much less irritating.

Everything melted (especialy when i struglled the most "styks") and with my first attempt I succeeded . Then I've unlocked aspect of chiron (yes on first lvl it has only 4 arrows). It didn't realy matter. I took dionizos for special, aphrodite on attack for weakness. Found +4 special hammer and it was even easier then previous attempt. 2 for 2. It was so good, that I wanted to get next aspect as fast as I could. Aspect of Hera end up for me such a fun playstyle and with the aphrodite cast it shreds everything. 3 for 3 with the bow. For some reason I can't unlock last aspect yet. Bow is my favourite weapon next beeing fists and railgun.

And perfect shot if you hit the timing is actually more damage than twin shot.
Comment for engagement. Triple shot can damage with the triple hits, you gotta sit very close to the enemy. Like literally in front of your face distance. Also I would reckon that using the Special to coat enemies with a long duration curse (Aphro's Weak, Poseidon's Ruptured, Demeter's Chill and Athena's Exposed) and have the Attack with another long duration curse, you'll guaranteed 50% damage increase with Privileged Status. Excellent for Zag and Rama, also good with Hera. Also my favorite bow build is going for Hera bow with cast builds, but with Abyssal Blood + Exit Wounds and try to get as many cast as possible. For some reason Exit Wounds still works with Abyssal Blood and you can get like 8 bloodstone inside a boss to come out and do like 1,6k damage.
Great guide! One small correction though: I just did a run with chiron + piercing and it did pierce well, hitting extra enemies (it doesn't hit an alone target twice though).
Something to note for Chiron aspect: If your attack arrow hits multiple enemies, the "lock on" effect will apply on the last one you hit. This means that you can attack through a bunch of enemies and also hit all of them with your special if you have piercing volley.

Twin shot with Rama is not that great because its cuts your range but the charge time is just as slow as before, meaning enemies on forced overtime +2 can easily get away from you before you get the minimal charge. Chain shot/Triple shot is where it's at, though. The bounces/extra hits scale with shared suffering and you can clear rooms instantly. Bosses also have the habit of summoning ads and taking a lot of extra damage because of it.
I got my first clear with Chiron using the Posiedon / Zeus Duo and I've recently been going Trippy Shot Hera and loving it. Trippy Shot Hera along with Aphro Attack and Ares Special would be one of my favourite ways to play at present, even if the damage doesn't get too crazy.
Just a note for ppl watching, base Aspect of Chiron can pump out 3 Specials after marking an enemy, even with relentless volley, and can do 4 with Hermes Special buff
Chiron is my go-to aspect if I just want to clear. That thing goes through bosses faster than shit through a goose. Thanks for continuing to pump out the entertaining runs and informative guides, Haelian! Keep at it!
Where does the damage come from? Artemis special + aphrodite duo still takes quite a while to kill hades and Theseus with minotaur. I agree that it's good for beating game, but it doesn't come close to speed at which speed runners destroy bosses
@@malenkas3 Concentrated Volley gives it a massive damage boost. I agree with you that it's not as fast on average as something like Eris Rail (at least pre-nerf, I haven't tried it post-nerf), but it's easier to manage than having to re-apply the bomb buff from Eris regularly. Also, Aphro/Artemis is one way to output damage, but honestly I think that using two status-curse boons (Demeter/Dio, Aphro/Demeter, etc.) is actually more powerful on average with Privileged Status; especially if you get tier two Demeter boons like Killing Freeze or Arctic Blast.
I did my first 32 heat and the 2 consecutive Charon fights with Rama full Ares special. It does a lot of damage while staying away from the enemies pretty well.
Quick note: Relentless Volley/Drunken Flourish is absolutely S-tier on Rama. Seven stacks of hangover in about a quarter of a second wrecks e v e r y t h i n g.
@Nuffsed Heartbreak Strike is a good choice for Rama anyway, and the ricochet means everything around your target ALSO gets some hangover, so your point falls apart.
Rama's special is considered as only 1 shot, so the +4 shots offered by relentless volley, will increase the damage 5 folds, as well as triggering some boon effects 4 more times, I'd say it's one of the best hammer for Rama
Triple shot is incredible with rama if used correctly/judiciously. (Tailesque showed me this in one of his high heat runs.) Triple shot has an overlapping pointblank region which triples damage. But it's a high level move that only advanced players should use because it means being very close to enemies (which opens zag up to damage). Unless the player has excellent timing and is precise with dashes, I wouldn't recommend this. Also, rama's blast wave's knockback is very useful especially against enemies with projectiles. (Tailesque also demonstrated this in a high heat run.) It functions similarly to athena's deflect. It's incredible against EM4 hades spear throw which is very quick and difficult to avoid. SGG is great at creating builds and adding abilities but they have some lapses when it comes to explaining things. Perhaps SGG wants gamers to find out hidden mechanics through experimentation but certain things (like attack vs dash-attack) need to be explained more clearly.
Hey Haelian, I love these vids and how in depth you go matching everything with the different aspects. But one tip I would give is to maybe visually show which aspects go well with which hammers/boons. You talk about it in depth but it would be very helpful to have something visual to go alongside it. How I imagine it is some sort of table/graphic with the Aspects being each category and then you dragging the best boons/hammers to those aspects (maybe a top 3 or something or just all of them in order from best to worst). This is extra work though, not sure how much you are willing to put into these vids :p
Definitely would be nice, just not sure about the time investment since I have a lot of other guide-type videos planned... maybe for future videos though!
relentless volley is great with some specific curse stacking boons on Rama, especially i found that Ares boons that gain ability to stack dmg goes from good to amazing
Another powerful build in my opinion with Chiron is getting Curse of Longing with Ares and Aphro, and just alternating between the attack and the special, if you combine that with Sweet Surrender and Dire Misfortune, it can really get easy to clear boss rooms
I got Rama to work into some crazy build with Zeus before, but it needs a lot of investment for it to be very good. Basically double strike + legendary + Hermes special speed. If you can get all 3 you can spam Rama special and annihilate full room. I disagree with you mentioning it falls off later on. However like I said, this build is very rng dependent, so not every runs going to amazing with it. You pretty much need to see Zeus at least 4 times , and also some lucky ones too. Also with fast special spam build like this you can always pair it with Poseidon dash to do even more damage while spamming your special and dashing.
@@Haelian yeah I saw your 6 "easiest" build video and went for chiron and Artemis, but still Elysium hurts me so bad. I'm really bad at nailing the power shot though, probably because I don't play the bow enough. With time I'm sure I'll become better with it. But for now, it's my least favourite weapon
When I first started playing my favourite weapon was the spear and I hated the bow. Now about 40 hours in it's the exact opposite. I just love the amount of possibilities with the bow, especially Chiron. My problem earlier on was I wasn't focusing on different builds I was just picking boons as they go so never really ramped up the damage like I should have.
Charged volley is something i use on hera when i build for demeter zeus dio to get ice wine and scintillating feast basically zeus dash, call dio cast, granny special (especially nice if you get Arctic blast)
been having trouble getting the parting shot hera build to do enough damage to feel good. think I was watching one of your runs where you said it does the backstab damage from the front, but I don't think I was getting that. might just be an additional boon that I'm not thinking about or I had common athena cast when I did it.
Only works with Athena's cast and getting the additional Exposed boon from here is semi necessary to get the same chunks. Should be decent without it still though!
Awesome guide! But Hera aspect with Ares cast is not a meme if you get Hunting Blades and the Hermes boon that returns your cast shards automatically. This build helped me defeat Hades for the first time!
I think anything can be viable, it's more about how easily the pieces can fall into place to make something work. My highest heat run has been with aspect of hades on the spear by just spamming the spin attack, but after looking back at the run, I ended up having a specific set of boons + hammers that can be hard to replicate consistently. Haven't had a run over 15 heat go the distance with it since.
I've had decent success with concentrated volley using the Ares curse on both Zag and Hera. With both Impending Doom and Dire Misfortune, you can shotgun 1-2 volleys and then drop a huge Doom hit.
You actually could use Charged Volley with Chiron when it was first introduced. I remember doing an Artemis run with it and also got +4 arrows on special and basically 2 shotting each phase of Hades.
I've had a lot of success with Aphro attack and Demeter special on Chiron bow. Let's you apply privileged status real quick and has high damage % modifiers. Aphro and Demeter debuffs make the run a lot safer as well. Something like flood shot on top and you're good to go in Styx as well.
Relentless volley is very good on Rama because it lets you bring an enemy (or two!) to full Dio stacks with one volley. That damage does fall off eventually but it's huge QoL in high heat Rama runs especially on stuff like Saviors with 2DC.
I don't recall if Tailesque took it in any of their recent Rama runs, but they use Dio special a lot and only needing one volley rather than two has proven very helpful for me.
so zeus doesn’t work that well with Chiron? I had a lot of fun using it though. jolted+area damage+demeter duo. it melted em4 hades even though there is some icd which I learned from your video. and it looks extremely explosive too with all the lightning hits. the aoe lightning blasts are really good to fast clear styx rooms too.
Relentless Volley is super good on Rama for special centric builds. You absolutely feel it on a Demeter special build where unless you get some of her rarer boons, you just have the chill blast for damage. Without Relentless, you need 3 specials to get 10 Chill. With it, you only need 2.
Fun run I had earlier. Attack : ares doom Special : Hangover Dodge: blade rush Trippy shot Call of hangover Ran it with both flurry shot and chain shot. Everyone was always hungover and had doom. Ran that on Zagrius. Fun run while it lasted. Newer to the game, but got to the minotaur archer fight
Thanks for the guide as always! Regarding Zag aspect and Artemis - I was surprised to hear you warn against Artemis attack, in my mind adding +15% crit chance and going from 10% to 25% seemed like it'd be significant (1/10 powershots at 200% on average > 1/4 powershots at 200%), especially with other crit-focused boons from her. Am I missing something about how this works or is it just me being bad at evaluating probabilities?
(I am not Haelian) It's a +200% damage, so that's effectively x3 damage. Therefore, you can basically think of the average increase in damage of damage as moving up by the Critical Chance x 2. Therefore, the average critical damage moves from 1.2x to 1.5x, not accounting for the minor increase in damage that Artemis provides. However, the raw damage increase from Aphrodite is higher than simply increasing the odds of having a Critical Hit. Comparing an Epic L1 Artemis v Aphrodite: Artemis: (1+0.4)*1.5= 2.1x Aphrodite: (1+0.8)*1.2=2.16x You basically get comparable damage with an additional effect of Weakening your enemies. Artemis only becomes worthwhile if you, like me, love going balls deep on Chaos Attack boons because you prefer a slightly faster run over a significantly safer run.
To add on to the others the consistent damage when you don’t crit adds up as well, I almost always prefer a big non Artemis bonus on the Arthur sword aspect and then try and pick up pressure points later for a similar reason and that’s an even smaller crit chance
One thing you should have mentioned for Chiron imo (cuz Chiron is my favourite weapon rn) is the heart rend build - Aphrodite on attack, Artemis on special, and heart rend net insane damage
Pricing volley almost ruined a Chiron run I was doing earlier. Seemed like it made my special miss most of the shots so my damage dropped way off. I was only hitting around 3 shots per volley, sometimes only 1, especially if I was close to the enemy I had targeted.
I have yet to escape on a ranged weapon. I have been playing an up close dodge build. I need more Titan Blood so I can unlock the other aspects of the bow and rail.
Me before watching the video; chiron + zeus special is the way to go. That's how i got my first win. Haelian; Zeus is bad with Chiron because of internal CD. SoThatWasALie.png
@@Haelian I tried using Poseidon on Chiron's aspect and it's good for damage values but everything that doesn't die in one hit will be pushed out of special range and it's not worth the risk
Okay so, after many runs trying things out: Poseidon special on Chiron doesn't really do it for me at least, the damage is nice but the knockback effect tends to push targets out of special range and last thing I want is having to get closer Ares special with the doom stacks boon, the doom damage boost boon and the Aphro duo boon is a really meme build but it works wonders. He didn't actually do a dash-strike either time at around 1:40 ? He just dashed and then attacked. The dash-strike is a quick shot that has no charge effect. the attack special pattern just pairs so well. And the damage feels insane
Add Low tolerance. And it melts
Piercing Volley is essential for Chiron against Shield Bearers
Nice to see some love for my fave weapon. Gonna try out Poseidon special Chiron first thing in the morning, somehow I never thought about it.
man your video is so informative and well structured
Great vid as always. Thanks again, Haelian!
Time stamps (In Progress):
22:46 Aspect of Chiron: Boons
Another powerful build in my opinion with Chiron is getting Curse of Longing with Ares and Aphro, and just alternating between the attack and the special, if you combine that with Sweet Surrender and Dire Misfortune, it can really get easy to clear boss rooms
These videos are just lovely. Thank you!
Loving the guides. The bow is the bane of my existence. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I tend to really struggle in Elysium with it
Chiron is the way
@@Haelian yeah I saw your 6 "easiest" build video and went for chiron and Artemis, but still Elysium hurts me so bad.
Yoooo this was really helpful, I am really liking aspect of hera with artemis cast. And I feel more confident In my bow knowledge now
been having trouble getting the parting shot hera build to do enough damage to feel good. think I was watching one of your runs where you said it does the backstab damage from the front, but I don't think I was getting that. might just be an additional boon that I'm not thinking about or I had common athena cast when I did it.
Only works with Athena's cast and getting the additional Exposed boon from here is semi necessary to get the same chunks. Should be decent without it still though!
Let's get them damp dad's some engagement.
Also you know, great guide and video.
Haven't had a run over 15 heat go the distance with it since.
good shit mah boi. been waiting for this
I love cast builds with Hera bow.
Went from hating bows to becoming my favorite weapon
I've had decent success with concentrated volley using the Ares curse on both Zag and Hera. With both Impending Doom and Dire Misfortune, you can shotgun 1-2 volleys and then drop a huge Doom hit.
You actually could use Charged Volley with Chiron when it was first introduced. I remember doing an Artemis run with it and also got +4 arrows on special and basically 2 shotting each phase of Hades.
Bow is my favorite. Thanks for this.
I like piercing on Chiron for non extreame measures Theseus cause then he can't block my special with his shield
Tru
This man is a national treasure. KB endorsed. But that means nothing.
I've had a lot of success with Aphro attack and Demeter special on Chiron bow. Let's you apply privileged status real quick and has high damage % modifiers. Aphro and Demeter debuffs make the run a lot safer as well. Something like flood shot on top and you're good to go in Styx as well.
Piercing volley on Chiron can be clutch. It just destroys armor, which then allows you to interrupt enemies.
Love these guides, thanks for the great content
Loving the guides man!
If you get all of the follow up zeus boons you cant go wrong really, but it's a lot to set up
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says the word "here"
Good luck making it to the end of the video
Relentless Volley is super good on Rama for special centric builds. You absolutely feel it on a Demeter special build where unless you get some of her rarer boons, you just have the chill blast for damage. Without Relentless, you need 3 specials to get 10 Chill. With it, you only need 2.
Fun run I had earlier.
Attack : ares doom
Special : Hangover
Dodge: blade rush
Trippy shot
Call of hangover
Ran it with both flurry shot and chain shot. Everyone was always hungover and had doom. Ran that on Zagrius. Fun run while it lasted. Newer to the game, but got to the minotaur archer fight
Very good guide ! Thank you very much !
Hunting blades hera is really fun
Its also really really good. It melts single target and builds your call very quickly.
Comparing an Epic L1 Artemis v Aphrodite:
Artemis: (1+0.4)*1.5= 2.1x
Aphrodite: (1+0.8)*1.2=2.16x
You basically get comparable damage with an additional effect of Weakening your enemies. Artemis only becomes worthwhile if you, like me, love going balls deep on Chaos Attack boons because you prefer a slightly faster run over a significantly safer run.
And it may be a multiplicative thing isntead of additive, meaning that the more crit you stack the less effective it gets.
To add on to the others the consistent damage when you don’t crit adds up as well, I almost always prefer a big non Artemis bonus on the Arthur sword aspect and then try and pick up pressure points later for a similar reason and that’s an even smaller crit chance
MATH
Two best bow builds I’ve achieved so far are heart rend and then I actually just tried a run with Dionysus on the special and it was sooo good.
I had a run with relentless volley, and the +4 special with Artemis special. Melted everything with just right clicks.
Sorry, piercing volley
19:10 On Chiron, it double your base damage!
-> 80+3+6+9+12+15+18+21=164 against 80 normally
Math!
Very nice guide, good work
I have yet to escape on a ranged weapon.
It's a shame because you wouldn't know until you try it
Do u have a detailed guide on how to get each companion?
The wubby stream promo is clutch. Also bow op all day.
10:18
Middle of the pact? Is that a Hades pun?!
I'm guessing the reason you don't recommend Poseidon for the Charged Volley is the knockback effect, yes?
Yes
@@Haelian I tried using Poseidon on Chiron's aspect and it's good for damage values but everything that doesn't die in one hit will be pushed out of special range and it's not worth the risk
Okay so, after many runs trying things out: Poseidon special on Chiron doesn't really do it for me at least, the damage is nice but the knockback effect tends to push targets out of special range and last thing I want is having to get closer
Ares special with the doom stacks boon, the doom damage boost boon and the Aphro duo boon is a really meme build but it works wonders. Forgot to change the mirror back to Privileged Status, didn't have crits nor that many Poms on the doom boons, yet I got 1200 on Hades
There was a short time I hated the bow
then I realized using dash strikes and using the special like a shotgun was the true way to play
No mention of the Athena Special? Widespread deflect is great. Completely murders Ms. Murderer. Turns the Wizards Circle into an ash pile.
How does Triple Shot work with loaded Casts on Hera?
The center arrow has the casts
@@Haelian Thank you for answering questions so much!
I was really enjoying the game myself, then my PC basically died. I've been waiting weeks now for the new one to arrive so the only way to really continue to improve has been your videos. Tuesday, it finally gets here.
Rama with twin shot + perfect shot and artemis attack and dash is absolutely disgusting lmao
triple shot + point blank shreds everything
Why not doubleshot?
@@PredatorH2O even that works great, i said triple because i recently had an op run with iy
This is interesting guide. Tempted to try it right away
The extra 4 Special Shots enables a super degenerate doom stacking build w/ Rama bow. Get Doom Special, stacking doom and delayed doom, and all you do is spam special as fast as possible to cleave 1k+ dmg dooms across a whole room.
Quick question.. when you use aspect of hera, do you get the status effect off of attack boon and cast boon in the same cast shot? Ex. Aphrodite attack and Athena cast with deflect status boon on?
Yup! Often very good for privileged status set up
@@Haelian Thank you, huge help! Just got through a solid 4 heat run it was a cake walk. I wanted to follow up on end game content questions. I'm just unlocking relationship with meg and almost done with dusa. What's should I be going for next. Maybe a video on directions of what one should do and spend nectar and ambrosia on.. is there any benefit to gifting God's like Artemis, will it increase boon rarity? Or do I focus more on completing prophecies. Having trouble finding answers to end game questions.. thanks alot!
I love using aspect of Chiron with Dionysus special
Hey so, I dunno whether this was a bug or not, BUT I had a run with Rama aspect twinshot, and Chain shot, and my attack needed to charge for like 5 seconds(nearly ruined my run) I think the combo might be bugged since before I picked up Chan shit the charge speed was normal also, the max range was super low for some reason(like I am talking spear range)
He didn't actually do a dash-strike either time at around 1:40 ? He just dashed and then attacked. The dash-strike is a quick shot that has no charge effect. In other words it looks nothing like what he was showing off? Press dash and attack at the same time and you'll see it doesn't charge up at all but it still registers a dash attack. I'm confused.
You are the man. Thanks.
Hype for glove time
Yo @Haleian... It's playing with controller more recommended than using 🐁 and keyboard???
He plays with controller, and I do too. Mobility is king in this game and considering bow/gun/cast have auto-aim mechanics the precision of mouse does very little
Developers recommend controller, the aim assist carries me
@@saucypupper3347 thanks beem trying hard betting heat 10 with mouse and key .. though without heat i can beat hades with every weapon .. gonna save up and buy a controller then
@@Haelian thanks for the guide once again ... know this game because of you.. been watching all your video related to hades.. as far as rewatching it love yer work there.. keep it up mate

I like the Transistor music 😁
Youre the man! Keep it up the great work
With Hera Bow can you have triple shot, if so does the cast just go to the middle?
Correct
4th run on the game got explosive shot and the triple arrow with a few lightning and doom boons and died on the last boss. Haven't even beaten the snake since :(
Try to get trippy shot it’s op
With aspect of Hera
Is that a new hat?
