Back to 1992 form. It's been 20+ years coming. This song form is what I keep hoping to hear when I come back to Dream Theater, and it's finally back in _Invisible Monster._ James LaBrie is in top form here. This band lineup has also finally hit its stride. It's also the first time this incarnation of Dream Theater has sounded even remotely close to the first album's allure since maybe _A Change of Seasons._ This is easily one of Dream Theater's best songs since _Pull Me Under_ and _A Change of Seasons._ I'd definitely put it in Dream Theater's top 10 songs of all time. Excellent. Way to go, guys.

Finally some respect for that solo. Its joint my favourite solo with comfortably numb, I'm still working on perfecting it myself, such beautiful melodic sweeps.
And the fact that the song is about his best friend’s (Portnoy’s) late father makes it that much more impactful. You can tell he really put his heart into that shit

So far this album seems like a cross between Systematic Chaos and Distance over Time, in terms of sound. I really hope the title track isn't another Illumination Theory. So far so good though! Got my copy pre-ordered.
hmm so glad they have embraced their proggier side on this album, this is what i have been missing. For at least a decade now have not enjoyed (or purchased) any of their releases. So many of the last albums seem to just be endless twiddly bits and out soloing each other between guitar and keyboards. At least they are back to writing songs not show off pieces.
This album brought me back to DT too (in my case it was after almost 20 years). It's unbelievabely well composed, every note has its place and meaning, intertwinned and beautiful. No one is chasing butterflies or picking raspberries along the way, while the song waits to be continued.

Invisible Monster Lyrics 👇
When you face the creature
That waits beneath your bed
Will you stare into its eyes or look away?
Running toward the fire
Or fleeing from the flame
The choice to seek or hide is yours to make
The serpent inside
Wrapping its tail around my neck
I'm buried alive
Dying to take another breath
Invisible monster
Always felt but never seen
Unwelcome presence refusing to leave
Invisible monster
Hiding, never showing its face
Feeding on irrational fear
Thoughts race at a feverish pace
Soaring on a flight of ideas
Perched on its victim's shoulder
Whispering in its ear
Things that may never happen
Worries too much to bear
Invisible monster
Always felt but never seen
Unwelcome presence refusing to leave
Invisible monster

Unwelcome presence refusing to leave

I couldn’t keep up with y’all’s new records & so I put D/T on a shelf, kept away snug until the time would come for me to rehash y’all’s music and I ended up 20yrs later, falling back in love with you guys all over again. ♥️😎. AWAKE is my album. That album just has this special place in my heart that’ll always be there. When I listened to silent man for the first time in years, it hit me so hard. I cried so hard listening. Remembering every word to all these songs, as if it were on the back of my hand. You guys just blew me away, all over again. So thank you! Thank you for keeping things real, yet surreal. ❤
I was only 19 years old when first time i listened the song ANOTHER DAY. now that I'm already 44 and discover more of DT MUSIC. I'm now a big fan of this rock band ang still enjoying their music here in saudi arabia🤘🤘🤘
This song is the TOP 👍👍👍
Wow! Awesome! Incredible how fresh and full of energy it all sounds! Makes me want to create music again!
Wow this is amazing. You guys are some of the best composers in metal and just music in general. I am 15 so I am new to Dream Theater but I am loving it! I had read that you guys were founded at berklee music college, no wonder! Not just anybody can write AND play this well. 🤘🤘👏👏
Strap in young lad, I'm 36 and I was your age when I discovered Dream Theatre. That is how good they are, they have transcended generations. You have a wonderful ear if this is what your listening to at 15. I hope there's more kids like you.
@@ibleedoranbla thanks. I am hoping that too
@@thrashnicity5913 just checked your channel man and keep up the guitar that is awesome. I played for 5 years and just quit one day and then 10 years of my life passed me by in a blink of an eye. I picked the guitar back up a month ago. Keep on rocking.
@@ibleedoranbla that's great that you picked it back up. Thanks for the sub. Also is the guitar you have the custom James Hetfield ESP?
@@thrashnicity5913 no the guitar I have is an epiphone les Paul custom
I just love the way John plays his solos uniquely him and his smooth fast accurate and clean technique. 2022 this is indeed a great song. Dream Theater never fails to produce good music thanks to JP.
It’s always been a surprise for me to see how melodious a prog metal band can be. Too much technicalities but still catches ears. Long live Dream Theater.
So clean, the way you can differentiate everything .. Those solos ; ) .. Yeah, it's DT, that's a heartfelt track though..
Crying right now. It just went straight to the heart. Such a beautiful song.
That intro man, THATS SO EPICCCCC with the hard hit,
Please make an entire album of neoclassical inspired songs like that bit at 4:24. It would be the greatest thing my ears have ever heard. \m/
agreeeeddd
there's a part kind of like it in erotomania I think
@@thebloodhammer2268 I know it's not exactly neoclassical, but in "Fall Into The Light" from the "Distance Over Time" album there's an instrumental interlude that sounds very medieval to me (kind of like Green Sleeves, you know). I like it a lot.
Hi guys! I listen Dream Theater music for 24 years and knowing for long time that behind every note and specialy word is much more than most people think. And behind this great song is our inner feelings and everything that keeps buggin us, the most important for each one of us how to deal with it. And for me Dream Theater is all about life, especialy how to deal with yourself.
You guys helped me, helping me and will help me a lot and I will be true fan for the rest of my life. Thx a lot for much more than music🎶
I love how the bass is louder than usual
Dream theater, I used to listen to you for 13 years now, I was a child once I heard your music and I got in love with it, I'm raised with that kind of music and my dream is to become a good pianist for a band like jordan rudess, can't wait until I go to one of your concerts!
Mangini had to bring back the cymbals down from Mt. Olympus so that we could grasp their majesty. Great Radio Friendly Song. Can't wait for the album.
Ngl I loved the cymbals in outer-space :P I'd love to play that kit (albeit with a 22" kick and not a 24")
They don’t need radio 👍 better being where they’re at right now
The sky high cymbals are actually more comfortable for Mangini. Not sure where they are now including the 4 cylinders and other stuff
What radio do you listen to? Lol
@@BenMichalowicz I love it too. I'm just poking fun at how they're not up there in the video (IMO it is just to get better shots of him Playing the drums from different angles).
I was here when this was released, and I remain here today. Always been a fan, this is just amazing. Endless creativity.
Man, i love this! Especially the part of the solo where Rudess comes in with the harpsichord. Never heard them do this before. To me it feels very fresh and revitalized. James also sounds great here
Corny lyrics. Boring song. Sounds forced. Never thought I'd turn off a DT song. Just did.
@@rabid_mongrel that's okay, lmao
Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. I loved that Malmsteenish part of solo and first time to hear something like this from DT. Wish to they do more. 👊🏻
@@rabid_mongrel When HAVEN'T Dream Theater lyrics sounded corny? Dunno how you could listen to the band and decide to draw the line here of all places.
@@wight2211 yet here you are. 😋
Love it, very catchy. which is the mission from a band. Well done fellas
good music , musicians on top , one of my favorite band and album.
The Great Song. This is the pure music. This is the one of my favourites now. Love you, guys!
2:44 The phrasing is pretty cool!
I was looking for this highlight 🤙👍
Song is such a banger
Rememer on the backs of angels... amazing song!
This song made me feel that the band is rescuing a vein they seemed to have lost a decade ago after Portnoy left them. Feels kinda like "Black clouds and silver linings". Congrats, Dream Theater! Hope to watch another show of yours in Brazil, as soon as Covid pandemics is really gone.
Finally a composition by the band of our time!
First Dream Theater song I’ve heard. I’m really liking whay I’m hearing.
Boy you have some research ahead of you.
Welcome to DT fandom! Enjoy your journey down the rabbit hole. You’re in for a serious treat!
I watched the guys play this song live last week in SLC, Utah. Incredible! I love the song and it was perfect live. To hear AND feel the song was so great. Love DT. Best band in the world.
Love the JP's stuff at 4:25...
John Petrucci is the man. Awesome guitarist and chief song writer. I listened to Best Of Times today and that guitar solo at the end of that song is unbelievable. I can't wait for the new album. 💯👈👍
This dude has his most plays from Petrucci solo, I do like his take on it. You know he wishes it were his music but only one JP. ua-cam.com/video/dztb6wqUVNg/v-deo.html
Synyster Gates vibes!
Finally some respect for that solo.
Its joint my favourite solo with comfortably numb, I'm still working on perfecting it myself, such beautiful melodic sweeps.
@@WookieWarriorz Good luck replicating that solo. His tone is insane. That alone I think would be hard to do.
And the fact that the song is about his best friend’s (Portnoy’s) late father makes it that much more impactful. You can tell he really put his heart into that shit
Anyone else get sort of a PULL ME UNDER vibe from this song? Great, amazing song! This album has had 2 songs released and its got me so pumped for its full release!! Beautifully done by the best band in the world!
Had the same thought immediately after listening… and I like it 😆😆😆😆
Exactly 😂. Sounds so much familiar to pull me under
It will be the most DT album in years!!!
100 !!! Even the Intro.
Yes, I can feel the precence of Paul Meander.
Awesome!!
Mangini's drums should have sounded this good on A Dramatic Turn Of Events!
I hope they release a remixed version of that album fixing it 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
vai esperar enterrado kkk
There's nothing to "fix" on that album.
@@147pablox i agree i think DTOE stands on its own it is still the best post portnow LP- 'Outcry' is probably my top 5 all time DT favorite songs
Actually I think they need to fix the horrible snare sound on the self titled album. It sounds like "splat" ...I can't enjoy the album! What do you think?
@@Gareththedrummer I respect dream theater as the masters they are on their instrument but I can only hear so much their music is a constant competition of virtuosity amongst themselves
beautiful song, beautiful John's solo, beautiful video
Such an awesome video. I love this song. The album is produced and mixed one of the best ever, it's great to hear every layer, especially the bass and cymbals clearly.
Now THIS is what makes the Theater a wonderful Dream!
EL DISCO ES INCREÍBLEMENTE BUENO, CALIDAD A TODA PRUEBA, LARGA VIDA A DREAM THEATER. SALUDOS DESDE CHILE.
heard this at the wallingford concert a month or so ago, amazing!
Let's give Jimmy T some love! The guy behind the engineering 👏👏👏
I actually enjoy this track alot more now that I'm hearing it alongside the rest of the album, it fits well
Exactly my thoughts, when listening to the album in full I enjoy this song an incredible amount in comparison to a couple weeks back
