I am a 65 year old woman who is fascinated by Nightwish! This has to be your best album ever. My son introduced me to Nightwish 2 years ago on a road trip. Please come to Salt Lake City Utah !
I remember my grandmother coming into my room exclaiming "What a beautiful voice [the singer has]!" upon hearing Nightwish' Walking In The Air. That was twenty years ago. She was your age then. We would be headbanging in the car when I picked her up from her choir.
This song embodies Nightwish's soul. It's like going on a ride through all of the band's eras, from the heavy drums and guitars to the bombastic orchestration to the softer tunes. It evoked awe and wonder and felt like taking a ride thru fantasy lands. I am so happy right now! Thank you, Nightwish! ❤❤
Exactly - I said, "I've heard this before - not a copy, certainly not the lyrics, but the overall feeling of the piece I've heard before from NIghtwish."
Want to be even more mindblown ? Tuomas says this song's lyrics has several meanings, the main one being a representation of life as an Ocean and the islands being the people you meet... But people have also theorized that another meaning might be Tuomas' own life with Nightwish and current and previous band members. Like "the retiree" who could be Marko. And if that's true, it would mean the musical influences from all the eras of the band could be extremely deliberate
It’s very similar to many Nightwish songs in that respect. It’s hardly anything new though, in fact, it’s very mid-late 2000 in its technical predictability. Tuomas has developed a dark side to his bitterness over the filmscore he’ll never be asked to write, even turning on his own inspiration Hans Zimmer in his criticism - wow Tuomas, you’re not in the same league for the very reasons you decided to twice rebuke his invitation backstage. Seriously, twice? Why twice? Like sending a message without ever being man enough to deliver it in person heh Tuomas? Hans remains clueless btw, maybe a third snub is needed?

Nightwish was my introduction to the metal genre all the way back with the album "Once". Dark Chest of Wonders blew me away all those years ago. This song made me feel exactly how I felt when I first heard Nightwish. I'm stunned.

What a masterpiece!!! There are no words that can adequately express the emotional impact of this song... The interpretations one can make are numerous...For me, we are all wayfarers of our own ship...buffeted and tossed on the sea that is life..The butterflies, in particular, are symbolic of transformation and renewal...bueaty that is short lived..Take the helm of your own ship...even when lost, your inner compass will always lead you home... Another masterpiece from the genius that is Toumas and the sublime performances of Floor, Empou, Troy and Kai. Can't wait for the 20th!!! I love how Toumas weaves themes and emotions throughout all his compositions, blending rock and folk with classical.

This is so... Nightwish! I'll describe this song in one word - complex, soaring, driving, haunting, heavy, grand, deep... Oh, who am I kidding, this is larger than any one word could describe. Every member of the band (orchestra, choir) expertly contributes to the whole. And it only gets better each time I hear it. Just sublime!
Troy made me almost cry ffs. The ending was fucking beautiful and arguably one of the best pieces they've ever written. Movie quality soundtrack stuff right there

There's no other band or songwriter that's able to delivery anything remotely close to what Nightwish does in terms of sonority and lyrics. Even in the "symphonic metal" niche, almost everything else is closer to "random noise" than to Nightwish. It's incredible to be part of something so marvelous.
I agree, this is other level, real structures for a orchestra, is not just song with violins and opera like a cliche, this is a whole composition with structure, you really need a orchestra to play this
As soon as the song started, I IMMEDIATELY got thrown back. This feels like a mix of Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. This is beautiful AS FUCK!! THIS is the Nightwish I've longed to have back for a very long time!! 🤘🤘

Durant plus de 9 minutes, l’ascenseur émotionnel fonctionne à merveille pour finir sur une douce mélodie qui a su me tirer les larmes... Merci Nightwish, merci Floor, merci Thuomas!...
My brothers and sisters in the Nightwish fanbase: isn’t it always like this? They always bring the strange and new out there stuff first: Harvest, Music, Perfume of the timeless, Elan…. And some pronounce them dead for metal, its not symphonic or its too symphonic, not enough Floor or too easy for Floor (even when she says otherwise), No Marco, too much pipes ….. Its the death of Nightwish…. Then they slap us in the face and back to attention with this song, or Tribal, or Shoemaker, or Storytime or TGSOE….. and on we go. They remain a genre on their own and when they delve into Symphonic Metal they are still its masters…. Its a great album. Congratulations to all of @nightwish
Thank you for the reminder! This is my first new Nightwish release since I only discovered them in 2019 or 2020. I've heard songs I loved immediately and those I've warmed up to which I eventually loved. I'm confident that will happen again.
After all those years we are still on the journey- what a gift, that's how this epic piece sounds to me. All the people we met, all the places we've been, all the emotions we felt, and only a Nightwish song of that scale ends with 2min of pipes to close your eyes and focus on what's important in life. I'm so thrilled that next week the whole album will be ours- belonging to the world ❤
if that's troy coming in in the last 2 minutes with those pipes just wow it blew the rest of my mind... another masterpiece by floor and the band... thank you tuomas 🦉
Absolutely lovable. Fantasy is nice, colorful and flexible, but reality deserves its own poet, and Tuomas does it very well. Thank you, Nightwish, for remembering us what we are allowing to love ourselves as we are in nature. 🦋
epic, simply epic, again and again! this emotionally charged atmosphere, Floor's singing so full of high sensitivity and feelings, at the same time calm and full of strength. And then this melancholic mood in the video, the time that stands still and at the same time races, the power of the sea in contrast to the birds, the moths in the monochrome light that attracts them... the freedom that tightens the sails with the wind, ready for the journey beyond the horizon and the birds dancing on the back of the wind....and then this farewell to the green land of Ireland with the Ullian Pipes...how does Nightwish manage to delight their listeners and viewers again and again... .send your fans on an emotional, imaginative audiovisual journey that is so thought-provoking. Only top musicians can deliver such a masterpiece. Floor with a lot of text, Kai is phenomenal again, as are Empuu and Jukka and certainly not to forget Troy. What a genius Tuomas is. Forever a big fan of Nightwish. Thank you.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶

Tuomas Holopainen says of this song that it is about people we meet throughout our lifetime. Each person representing an island.
beautiful
Actually it's about a real story
bla bla bla
No man is an island, entire of itself ...
Finally! I can't believe it! I thought I would never listen to something like this from Nightwish ever again!!! I love this song so much!!! It's been years since a song brought tears to my eyes.😭😭😭
Amen. Really haven't enjoyed the other singles, and didn't like most of the last album but this is the one!
Same, its been a very long time since I've loved a song from Nightwish as much as this one
Many times along the Nightwish journey I’ve been left utterly speechless. This song is certainly one of those moments. I just don’t have words to convey my emotions right now. What a beautiful powerful display of amazing musicianship. This band is a blessing. Period. That outtro has me sitting here in tears. I’m mind blown. Love it. Love them.
Oh my fucking god, this song is insane. Definitely what I was hoping for
Really?? You were hoping for ... insanity ???
Perfection song! 😱😱😱
This song just sounds like every other Nightwish song all wrapped up into one and it's absolutely amazing! You guys outdid yourself once again we your fans of the Nightwish army thank you from the very core of our musical souls
Ein Kunstwerk... wie das ganze Album .... man kann es gar nicht oft genug hören ❤😊
What a song!!!
The new orchestrations are phenomenal!!! Floor's voice exceptional us always.... The whole band nailed it!!! 🤘🤘🤘
An absolute banger 🙏😊👍❤️
Amazing ❤❤
Totally agree...powerfull...impressive parts headbanging .. but also touching parts crying..breath taking lyrics...and so creative ....a unique band with a already classic song..a masterpiece
7:15 this sequence brought tears to my eyes. Id say this part is the best piece if music they've ever written. No words. If you havent heard this part of the song, PLEASE listen!
Now this is NIGHTWISH .....Pure Epicness......can't wait for this monster to be performed LIVE
Will have to enjoy it for what it is. If Tuomas performed this proper I would be with the orchestra also but they never have and never will do that unfortunately. As to anything live from NW, who knows.
Tuomas doesn t want to play live new albm. He is strange person. All normal musicians want to play live.
Please define "normal" @@oldrichvoralek7716
The pipes gave me the chills!! The whole song sounds incredible. So glad to be alive at the same time as Nightwish
@@catalinanavarrete9282 does anyone know the proper name for the instrument (pipes) near the end of the song? I'm curious!
@@jasonleary604I think they are ullean pipes. Not sure if that is the right spelling though.
@@jasonleary604Actually the spelling is uilleann. Just looked it up.
I'd love to have seen Empuu and Floor's faces when Thuomas rolled this one off the demo track ... "Yeah, cheers mate... Just the seventeen tempo and key changes then?"
From what I have readat least Foor seems to be very unhappy with that. But like the fans say: It is what it is, and Tuomas intended it, so it must be great.
@@flowq3874 I mean Floor's allowed to have her own tastes in music but a song with a lot of tempo and key changes isn't intrinsically bad, it just depends on what you're looking for. I like complexity and variety in music, myself. Being too samey is boring.
@@flowq3874 What's your source for that claim?
Please Toumas, never stop composing these epic saga's of musical expression. Every song from Nightwish is beautiful and spine tingling To every fan and very member that has ever been, Thank you for bringing life back into music for me with your Rock-pra!❤
Listening Nightwish since 2nd grade (1997) now im 35 years old and still hearing this piece of of art... Nightwish music is part of my life and is like a journey. Elemental school , intermediate school , high school , university and my inspiration, professional life, I married and still hear, introduce my wife to the music of nightwish and counting
Good old Nightwiiish!! It sounds like Poet and the pendulum and Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean ALL TOGETHER!!! Favourite band gives goosebumps after so many years still!! Thank you for staying yourself in the best possible way!
One of the better Nightwish songs of the last decade. Huge props to everyone involved.
Thank you Nightwish!
Please one concert with an audiance that you record? No touring but just one real concert for us all??
I think in 2026. In an interview, Tuomas said that they will celebrate the band's 30th anniversary in a big way.
They said that they would be not be touring in support of the next studio album, but maybe even one show? its not a tour if its a only one show 😎
I concur!!!❤
@@Booolicius I think it's not an easy thing to do one show; the band will have to put together many things to make this show special, and do all the rehearsals and promo; this work can hardly be paid off by one show, but perhaps I'm wrong; in general I understand that they just probably want to live their lives; and it's good for them :)
I know we want to see them again but please, respect their desire to take a well earned break. They've all been through so much in the last 3 years and they've given us so much. I won't grudge them the break.
"Sail and seek,
the starbound quay,
calling you calling me
to be a part of your story"

The end with the pipes is outstanding
Need to hear and see performing vocals of Floor and entire band play live this song 🙏🏻✨

What a journey they put you through, so beautiful and Troys pipes almost makes you cry.... amazing video. 🦋🦋🦋⛵
An orchestral background, a wind machine, and Floor, but mostly Floor, will make the word 'sail' one of the most spine tingling, exhilarating live moments - ever.
And SPIN AWAY on spider's silk track 😂
Masterpiece Song, Masterpiece Album!!!
You knocked this one out of the park Tuomas. Powerful, beautiful, creative, and reflective. Floor unleashed! 🌹🌹🤘🤘🥂🥂
I truly needed my soul to be soothed like this today, Nightwish isn't just music, it is healing audio therapy. Thank you
This song is a smasher. It's almost like Romanticide meets Poet and the Pendulum meets The Siren. 🎉 Some of the bass lines remind me of the grittiness in Endlessness too. Here for it
I can't imagine how Floor can remember the whole album lyrics 🤯
Watch "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" it's about how Floor had to last minute stand in for Anette
Thats why they wont tour this album😂

So many pieces of Nightwish in one song. Did I hear a bit of Sahara in there?
This song is AWESOME!!!!!
Definitely one of the best songs they ever did! Nightwish is more alive than ever!
Nightwish was my introduction to the metal genre all the way back with the album "Once". Dark Chest of Wonders blew me away all those years ago. This song made me feel exactly how I felt when I first heard Nightwish. I'm stunned.
This is absolutely breathtaking and the symbolisms of life's journey of his life with Nightwish and all our personal journeys hit me hard, especially today. ❤️
What is left to say? THANKYOU NIGHTWISH...❤❤❤❤❤
WOW.. that was powerful... What a masterpiece! It could go easily to the top favorites of any Nightwish fan!
I need this whole album now!!!!!!!!!! What a masterpiece of art you all created
This might be my favorite song, and I'm only halfway way through. Perfume of the Timeless was really good, but this just gives me older Nightwish vibes. Reminded me why I fell in love with this band to begin with.
I am truly blessed to be alive at the same time as Nightwish. ❤
This is Ghost Love Score , Greatest Show on earth levels epicness
😊
Mesmo isso! Surreal ❤
I didn’t expect to cry today but Nightwish released a new single and it is awesome!
Pure Nightwish, heavy headbanging metal interspersed with beautiful soft melodies and Tuomas’ marvellous and moving lyrics.
You know, I have never dared to call a song my "favourite Nightwish song" because like: how can one choose? But this one right here just climbed that throne without any protest from me... this hits all the sweet spots of Floor Era Nightwish, and I love it to pieces! 🌊🤍🔥
How is this possible that this composition goes on for almost 10 minutes and no second of it is boring ? Well done, Nightwish. Truly a symphonic poem.
This song is an essence of all of the good Nightwish melodies!
Does anyone know why i am not able to do a comment in the main thread, only answer comments???
Another masterpiece from the genius that is Toumas and the sublime performances of Floor, Empou, Troy and Kai. Can't wait for the 20th!!! I love how Toumas weaves themes and emotions throughout all his compositions, blending rock and folk with classical.
Wow, I LOVE this song! Especially that bridge at 5:09. I wish that part was longer, I could listen to that forever. 🤩
I am so full of joy with the prospect of a new album. Old sounding music, new sound, and everything in between on this album. Good luck, Nightwish, on your new album release and enjoy your well deserved break!
This song to me is one the best i have ever heard.
Troy playing the pipes at the end is so haunting it sounds like a lament.
Troy made me almost cry ffs. The ending was fucking beautiful and arguably one of the best pieces they've ever written. Movie quality soundtrack stuff right there
How is Nightwish sounding even thicker and mightier than ever before
The best part is from 0:00 till 9:26 🤘🏼🤘🏼
So true ; )

Exactly
Legend has it that when a song is fabulous, it's assured of immortality. 💙
For so much of Nightwish’s music, the more I listen to it the more I notice, the more I connect with it, the more I love it. The same is true for this song. Love it ❤
Amazing!! beautiful lyrics, beautiful composition, beautifully arranged, beautifully played and beautifully sung. So far I’m blown away by Yesterwynde thank you all for bringing your music to the worls
I can’t stop listening to this amazing, brilliant song. Thank you Nightwish for being a part of my life story. No words can describe or make justice how beautiful this song is. Truly special!
"My waves, they kiss every shore I land,
Steep cliffs will mock my waving hand."
I love that!🤘
Yes so beautiful❤
Very strong song, the end with the Uilleann pipes turn it in to a very haunting song.
There's no other band or songwriter that's able to delivery anything remotely close to what Nightwish does in terms of sonority and lyrics. Even in the "symphonic metal" niche, almost everything else is closer to "random noise" than to Nightwish. It's incredible to be part of something so marvelous.
❤❤❤
I agree, this is other level, real structures for a orchestra, is not just song with violins and opera like a cliche, this is a whole composition with structure, you really need a orchestra to play this
dream
Yes, Nightwish is unique in symphonic metal!
Nightwish is like a film score of life, planet earth, evolution and human language and fantasies.
This song shoud have been the lead single ❤ what a masterpiece
6:20 Listen to that bassline. GOOSEBUMPS!!!

As soon as the song started, I IMMEDIATELY got thrown back. This feels like a mix of Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. This is beautiful AS FUCK!! THIS is the Nightwish I've longed to have back for a very long time!! 🤘🤘
Yes, but I still fear for the rest of the album, given the previous singles.
@@thetruechaby I haven't heard the rest of them I don't think but I did hear one recently that was also really good

This one made me cry so hard... The old magic of Nightwish is right here in this song. Nightwish, my deepest solace lies in you
I love how the lyrics are full of island imagery, and then the instrumental coda evokes the mental image of being alone on a beautiful island.
What an amazing song. Sounds really fresh while resurrecting a blast from the past. Yesterwynde is a great album
The way that chorus comes in *.* goosebumps
The sound of the pipes fills me with melancholy😪
it reminds us of all the works of nature which adorn the world
My brothers and sisters in the Nightwish fanbase: isn’t it always like this?
You just forgot that after all of this, almost every single person that complains is dancing Elan in the concerts 😂
@@dagonluke and when Perfume of the Timeless is eventually played live it will leave everyone in awe….

I agree with you 1000% but at the same time I feel like this could be the opening track aswell 😂
Yes i agree too.
Best Nightwish's song in many many years, this is amazing!
Absolutely lovable. Fantasy is nice, colorful and flexible, but reality deserves its own poet, and Tuomas does it very well. Thank you, Nightwish, for remembering us what we are allowing to love ourselves as we are in nature. 🦋
I absolutely love this song. On repeat a dozen times already
epic, simply epic, again and again!
this emotionally charged atmosphere, Floor's singing so full of high sensitivity and feelings, at the same time calm and full of strength. I can hardly wait for the earbook =) The Wind of Yesterday is a Storm from the Past.
Thank you, Nightwish!
