I had the privilege to meet Shirley Hemphill after an enjoyable evening of watching her in concert. I was quite pregnant, and she 'picked on' me during her show, and made me part of it. She asked me if I was 'going to do that natural childbirth thing, with puff-puff breathing and all?' I said I was, and Shirley said, 'Unh-unh. When that labor pain hits you, Owwwwww! You gonna sing all of James Brown's greatest hits! A very sweet, funny Lady. A very memorable, fun evening. RIP, darling Shirley, and thanx so very much for the magic and memories. (edit for typo)
This my favorite episode with Richard Pryor and Robin Williams and Rip Taylor rip to all my gen x Comedians that I loved as a kid and I loved this show my McDonald's on youtube specially this one. I was looking for this every single time And I hope this episode is on youtube forever
Robin Williams AND Richard Pryor would have been great together making a film 🎥. During the 90's, Robin Williams was gaining success while Richard Pryor was at the downfall of his career. The film 🎥 "Another You" with the late Gene Wilder was a catastrophe.
Now why did he drop that horn so it can get ran over? It's just like holding the baby 👶. Now that Rasta guy is gonna go off unless it's the wrong horn.
With all due respect to our dearly beloved legend, Richard Pryor... This show was too much, too little, too late to reinvent his image. - This wholesome, Bill Cosby (Pre-Rape Conviction), gentrification, Sesame Street, image came across forced and unnatural for him at that time... And I say this with nothing but LOVE for him as a fan. - Sorry
@@kelvintorrence5994 What do you mean, whatever?? I was merely stating a FACT about this SHOW, at this particular time in his career... AND THIS SHOW WAS NOT GOOD. I'm glad you still love Richard Pryor, but frankly... WHO CARES!!
It was for kids to learn great lessons about life situations. I am pretty sure the kids that might have benefitted from these lessons knew nothing about Richard's personal life. So if anyone was tripping it was grown folk. If you learn a good lesson is it more important who teaches it? They need to put shows like this back on TV, it may help some of the kids who aren't getting these lessons at home. JMO
@@pjmoneybags2780 Sir or Ma'am... I am perfectly AWARE of the purpose of this format. There were 50 Bazillion shows already doing this style of show during that time. Sesame Street, Electric Company, Zoom and Bill Cosby just did it BETTER. This show was simply not good. The network purposefully used Richard Pryor as a draw for ratings and failed miserably. The ratings were in the toilet. It lasted ONE SEASON... I understand you love Richard like we all do, the FACTS out weigh your feelings.
@@pjmoneybags2780 Oh, and one more thang... I was younger than the lead child actor on this show during that time. This show was targeted towards MY demographic and ALL US KIDS were VERY aware of who Richard Pryor was prior to this show. I used to sneak and listen to Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx and Eddie Murphy as a child. We'd come to school and recite all Richard Pryor's dirty jokes, so to say we weren't trippin off who he really was is ridiculous. We knew Richard Pryor a certain way and we THOUGHT we knew Bill Cosby another way. Kids aren't as naive as you think they are. I know this particular era of television on good authority, because I lived it as a child.

I liked it but yeah their chemistry goes back to The Richard Pryor show where he was a featured player

Something tells me this set was repurposed for 227.
