Having worn the original in the early 80’s, it’s always been a love. The dry down for me is where it’s at. It shines when in Mediterranean climes and many will never get it. I also enjoy the 2012 and 2017 parfums, the former being my favourite. Lovely comparison.
Thanks for this comparison, Pep. I love them both for different reasons. When I discovered Eau Sauvage edt in the 80s I wore it exclusively and got rid of all my other fragrances. I thought I had found the holy grail. It's hot and humid in Texas 8mos out of the year...and then I found Eau Sauvage Extreme Concentrée (vintage). Ah the simpler times when I could commit to one perfume
@@TheScentinel The Eau Sauvage Extreme is still available in Europe but not in the US. The reformulation is less citrus and more lavender and basil forward than the vintage Concentrée. Sadly I never got a chance to smell the Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir or the 100% Glacon before they were discontinued
I love these kind of videos on the classics. I have both formulations of the Edt, old and new and in my opinion the smell pretty much the same. The old formulation is slightly more aromatic and slightly less citrusy. You can say that the new one smells a bit more modern. Just a bit. Looking forward to more of these videos Pep. A comparison between Eau sauvage edt and Pour Monsieur would be great!!
@@steliosc.4686 How would you describe the longevity of the EDT? And also - how long does the citrus stay around? I love Acqua Di Parma Colonia and especially the opening are amazing. I wish the citruses would stay longer into the dry down and i would also like a little more longevity.
Good points you're taking out from both patches of today's. For the weakened longevity concerning nearly all latest editions of Dior (and all other design houses), I've found a sensible and most respective way to exceed the longevity of the scents. I use as a baselayer the neutral mix of Attar-oil and perfumers alcohol (50/50). The attar oil should respect the notes of the destinated juice sprayed on it as a second layer. Doing so will combine the notes of the destinated fragrance from the top to the base.
@@TheScentinel yes, you can still find it online. However, it is not as easy to find as the edt or parfum which leads me to believe it may have been discontinued… at least in the U.S.

For years I bought Acqua di Parma Colonia. Once I discovered Eau Sauvage EDT I stopped buying the ADP. The Dior is a better version of the ADP Colonia.
I know you already mentioned you haven't tried anything from Dior since 2017. Never any of the Sauvage's either??? I own Dior Sauvage EDT & EDP getting the "EAU Sauvage EDT from 1966 tomorrow." In the Fragrance community it is called a Masterpiece can't wait to get my nose on it!
Very cool and original opening to the video. Blurry fade in. 👍Good review. The EDT remains my fav between the two. I can see what they were trying to add with the EDP but as a wear, the EDT has a timeless joy. The EDP tries too hard. The EDT is absolutely emblematic of the masculine of the last 60 years. Its not dated. Like Fahrenheit, it transcended its time and still evokes an elegant, clean, versatile masculinity.
My first sampling of the edt was in 1986, in Grasse when I was travelling. Loved it! but my oh so younger self naively said “I can’t wear this, it’s a mans fragrance”😂 Silly girl!😂
@@TheScentinel thanks.. my coworkers loaned me a small decant of the edt.. smelling it for the first time today and man.. even as a younger guy, this fragrance is absolutely great.. timeless
I had Parfum and still have EDP. The 2012 Parfum is a masterpiece. I miss having a bottle. The asking prices are insane. I wish Dior brought back 2012. The EDP is nice but it doesn't do it for me like Parfum does.
Parfum version is almost unwearable, like most of Demachy's creations. Everything he does is good for people with kinda blurred sense of smell or those who just want maximum performance from a fragrance. Eau Sauvage original is a masterpiece indeed, where everything is perfectly balanced
Eau sauvage edt is pure perfection! Dry down smells like shaving foam with grated lemon zest on it topped with some vetiver.
I don't think EDT will ever go out-of-style. It's an easy reach fragrance that could be a signature for most of the year.
Love those equalizer analogies.

Hi Troy, i was just thinking about the various Eau Sauvage flankers outside the parfum versions and wondered if they had all been discontinued.

I had the 2012 version of the parfum version loved it . Haven’t had the chance to smell the 2017 version since removing the myrrh

Enjoyed hearing you compare these two Eau Sauvage fragrances.
Have a great day!

Great video and I enjoyed it and I like Dior eau Sauvage parfum and I'm going to try the edt and have a blessed night
If only we could buy the parfum version here in Greece. Bummer.
is a extreme as well
Nice video. Trying to find a comparison on the edt and the cologne version before I decide which one I buy. Happy Holidays!

Having now finished a bottle of the EDT, I am disappointed with the performance. The smell is perfect, but it disappears in under an hour.
I am currently without the edt. I have Parfum 2012 and 2017 and the Cologne, I wonder if I should get the edt again. I finished it so i probably do 🤣
I will be a passive enabler, and it will start getting warmer there.
I have the Parfum from 2024 and got a decant of Extreme, but it didn't have the creamyness of the Parfum, which captured me. Does Edt possess that?

Where Can I Buy the Parfum
Depends where you are located, but i would start with a google search

Smart woman now😊
Now that's my kind of fragrance review. Instead of light and dark, you use bass and treble. Speaking my language.
If i were to get one for the office, would you say edt over edp?
Yeah, just because it doesn't project as much

Which has the best projection and longevity?
The parfum.

When you refer to the edp are you talking about the 2017 version? I believe that is still parfum, just replaced the 2012.
@@TheScentinel Correct. I always confuse 2017 with EDP. The 2017 wears more like an EDP for me.
Some type of regulation required them to remove the myrrh from the 2012 parfum . They replaced it with elemi for the 2017 parfum

A decade ago I thought the parfum was unwearable. But now I can't live without it. I honestly think it's a 10/10 easily.
I agree with you. Demacy puts too much synthetics in his fragrances which I don't like at all. Eau sauvage edt smells so natural and beautiful.
How many sprays do you use for each one?
About 3-4 for parfum and 6 for edt
