Great list of underrated brands. I love Acqua Di Parma. Sandalo from their darker bottle line and the original Colonia are my favorites. Never heard of Parfum D’Empire I’ll have to check them out. Another underrated brand in my opinion is Nobile 1942. Your video on Patchouli Nobile introduced me to brand. I’m so glad I watched that video as I got to try their other fragrances and discovered my current summer signature scent Pontevecchio which I absolutely adore.
Some excellent brands that should receive more recognition are: Serge Lutens, Molinard, Gritti, and specially one I really love for their artistic approach, Comme des Garçon.
I'm with you on this list, particularly on Parfum d'Empire. One of the best represented houses of what I have. With it getting colder in the northern hemisphere, I'm ready to bust out Fougere Bengale, Immortelle Corse, Ruade, and Tabac Tabou.
Love these brands Pep! Thanks for highlighting them! Another I always think of is Heeley but I’m thinking you haven’t mentioned since they’re not as easy to sample in stores?
I have a few decant drops of Ambre Russe and it's lovely indeed, would love to explore the rest of the house. Some others worth mentioning to me are Dusita, Scents of Wood and the great Naomi Goodsir 💖. Some time ago I had the discovery set of Fort & Manle and some were really interesting and worth checking out but I believe the rebranding axed the best ones (and raised the prices)
Ambre Russe is amazing, that house is great, Tabac Tabu, Fougere Bengale are great as well. P'eau D'espagne is one I want to try at some point for sure.
This is a helpful topic. Thank you. If you can see the opportunity to continue on this theme, developing a good summary of the suitable demographic for each house and where their fragrances you think sit on the fragrance wheel (something I know only a little about l), I'd be very keen to watch it and take the advice. Cheers!
Thoroughly enjoyed your list and video. Found a vintage Floris 89 a couple of weeks ago, it’s my first ever smelling Floris and really like it. Santa Maria Novella is my favorite niche house.. their store in Florence is stunning… I have 12 of their fragrances. My favorite being Muschio Oro and Melograno. Xx
You nailed it. 5 brands that we everyone kinda knows but seldom see these discussed on UA-cam. Another one for me is- MDCI. They def have some standouts in their line. Thanks Pep
Two houses I really enjoy are Vilhelm Perfumery and Memo Paris… and I want to explore the house of Bo which is a Mexican Brand. I have one Acqua Di Parma in my collection… Iris Nobile but need to explore others like Fico Di Almalfi. I am happy there be a Santa Maria boutique about 20 minutes away I can explore.. Great video Pep thanks
Great choices! I have fragrances from 3 of these… A couple brands that really need to get more love is Arquiste and Fzotic, both US houses, both perhaps even smaller than the ones you mentioned, I don’t know.
I do love unique fragrances! I do get bored with simple or mass appealing type scents. Profumum Roma is my favorite house so far. I have 6 of them. But I really been enjoying The Spirit of Dubai. I did smell a few on this video. But didn't get into them much. I'll have to revisit them one day....
Acqua di parma and floris are both super underappreciated houses, pep. ADP kills it with their Italian citruses and floris does the same with their English gentlemanly offerings. Take care!!!
AdP and HdP (SL too) I always considered gateway brands into niche. Somewhat ironically, many of their fragrances on the grey market are now half the price of many designers at full retail. For those who've adapted to the price gouging, they're in luck. 😆
I got Parfum D'empire Ambre Russe & also Acqua di Scandola. I might get like you as my next one of the brand, Aziyade. My latest purchase was Serge Lutens Dans le bleu qui pétille. It's going to be my Sunday SOTD.
@TheScentinel It's apparently getting discontinued. Last time I checked, only Fragrancenet had it (where I bought mine). Some people say it's like an aquatic ambre Sultan. Others, like a Fragcom friend of mine said that it dries down like L'Air du Desert Marocain by Tauer Perfumes. Really priced well. Couldn't pass this up 🤪
Very nice writeup. Would recommend trying Floris Neroli Voyage… an interesting take on Neroli. ADP indeed excels with Italian citruses (the Bergamotto di Calabria La Spugnatura limited is a perfect example of this)… but sadly they discontinued their absolute best fragrance (juniper forward) which was Ginepro di Sardegna. Absolutely must get a bottle before it is gone for good. Nothing else smells even close to this. I also wish ADP Colonia Intensa lasted longer than 30 seconds. It is fantastic… would be my #2 ADP of all time. But even if you pour an entire bottle on your sport jacket it will be undetectable after leaving the house. Alas.
ADP LEATHER was recently discontinued. It is a super realistic leather, similar in many ways to TOM FORD OMBRE LEATHER, but with some added citrus on top. A nice deep leather.
Five brands that I adore but don’t get spoken about much but actually I’m more than happy to gatekeep!! : Pierre Guillaume - there is only one fragrance I’ve tried so far that I’m not keen on, everything else has become an obsession! Pierre’s other company - Phaedon. Pure Azure I often daydream about!! Liquides Imaginaires. Obviously Desert Suave will always be my one true love. And Liquide is my next to buy from them. Trudon, just because they are more well known for their candles and often their perfumes are overlooked. Thameen, they are spoken about but mainly about Peregrina and Carved Oud. But think some of their other perfumes need more attention. Floris is a good shout. I’ve been in their shop a couple of times in London. It’s like stepping back in time! Honey Oud is by far my fave from them.
@@TheScentinel Highly recommend Sunsuality from Pierre Guillaume though. It’s a warm sun baked scent. Not sweaty/bo, but there’s a hint of something that indicates a teeny touch of heat from being outside all day. It’s so so good, took a few sprays to really fall for it. In the summer I just adored it so much. I really want to try Absolu from Trudon, created by Antoine Lie, I can’t get over the amazing service I had from the new Trudon shop in London. And ended up coming out with four of their perfumes. Absolu sounds just so good. And it’s on the list for the new year to buy.
Now that I’ve seen this video, I would like to try Bizzarria when I next visit Tokyo. I’m actually hoping a little bit that I don’t like it, because it’s about $284 Australian (28,600 Yen), and I’d have to add another of Your suggestions to a growing wish list… 😅
@ not sure how long they’ve been around. They’re out in your part of the world. They finally have international shipping, but it’s pricey to get to USA. Hope to try them soon.
@@dimitriorlov4542 Then, next summer, try acqua Di Scandola. It's a aquatic & in the drydown, it smells like you have dried salt from the ocean still on your skin (because usually, your supposed to shower 🚿 it off after). 🤓🤌🔥
