I always love seeing the joy in you Pete whenever you get to use these cameras that inspire you. Like that excitement always comes through and honestly feels like I get to live vicariously through you. I still say Leica is crazy priced but I’ll never deny the beauty of the images they create. One day I hope to use one

I love that Pete took a 6k pre-production and unreleased press camera to a concert where there was a possibility that the sensor could be destroyed by a laser.
can confirm I have had 2 cameras damaged by lasers, it's no joke

My Leica M10 was destroyed by a laser on Tomorrowland, it's real

@@andreagonar yeah, since there’s no mirror the sensor is always being exposed, so if the laser hits it, it will burn out the pixels it touches

I saw in another first look video that the batteries are cross compatible between the q2 and q3, just the capacity got increased. It’s just 2200 mAh (8.4 V) vs 1860 mAh (8.4 V) and the same charger.
Small update bhphoto video shows the new battery, BP-SCL6, for Q2, Q3, SL2, SL2-S series which given the cost of these, and the new model is $100 cheaper, woohoo for keeping compatibility across models / upgrades but also a nice little bump when getting one of these for an older camera.
The new battery is backwards compatible with the Q2 and the older batteries work in the Q3 but you lose 8k filming

having owned several sony cameras and now the Q and Q2M I can personally say that I much more enjoy shooting the Leicas and therefore use them more and take more and better photos. so for me, the price is worth it.

Love seeing improvements being made in the Q line, but still not in any hurry to upgrade from my original Q. It’s the sweet-spot, and I will likely never part ways with it.
Still have mine too and its still amazing. And for a great price these days.
I have a Leica M240 and I love it. But I've wanted a Q camera for a long time now. Seems like a great form factor and would be a great compliment when I want something simpler and with autofocus.
If you know that a Leica camera and lens are not assembled by robots, but by highly trained experts who put each Leica together manually and every step is tested before the next you get an understanding why a Leica‘s price tag is bigger than that of other cameras.
I got the chance to visit the Leica factory in Germany and the next day I bought a Q3.
I don’t know how I feel about the mic in this video… I freaking love the photos but I feel like it’s softening the energy you bring!

I am so stoked for this camera. I still have the original Q and love it, but definitely feel it's age so many years later even though it is still a power horse, I would love to get this new camera, but the price tag is a bit much, but I do know it is worth it and I think this new version has enough advancements to last for a long time.
You would probably still get a reasonable price for your Q if you sold it, Leica's usually hold their price don't they?
While watching this video, I was feeling the same emotions when I started watching him for the 1st time at the age of 15 in 2018. ❤

Damn !! I just happened upon this video, althu I hv seen a lot of PK’s (excellent) videos b4, this one was on the Q3 which I’ve been fantasying about since it came out. And PM easily n brilliantly took us thru all its attributes n qualities, but that demo of the benefit of the 60mp in going a W Shot to a Portrait of the drummer was not just perfect, but a completely demo but a stunning image in its own right. Just Fantastic !! Thks Peter, (U the Man !!)

I enjoy your videos. I like your humility. I also like how you maintain your personality in every video. This is my favorite so far because of how you really highlighted the features of not only this camera but of higher resolution systems. I get it now in a way that I didn’t before. I was going to buy an older system that has lower resolution but a higher build quality for my everyday camera. I’m going to buy a Q3 now. I can see how the higher resolution will improve both my overall photo and video options moving forward. I didn’t see the need for such high resolution before, but I get it now. Thank you for another great video.

Battery is the same format it’s just a newer one that has a higher capacity but you can still use your old ones and can even pop the new one in your Q2/SL2 for better battery life!

Pete- a follow up video giving an affordable alternate to the q2/q3 would be stellar. Not everyone can get them but there’s gotta be something close!

There's no affordable similar alternative that comes close to how good the Q3 is. It's the only full frame fixed lens camera at this level. The closest you're getting is an X100V but even that's £1500+ right now which is crazy, and it is nowhere near as good.

Just a note that Q2 batteries will work in the Q3 but you can't shoot 8K with them. You can also use Q3 batteries in the Q2. This is according to The Verge.

It has the exact same light sensor as a Sony A7R4. Without Sony Leica would not even be able to make cameras, a lot of companies wouldn't.
It's awsome - you're at a Blink182 concert using a Leica with "just" a 28mm lens.
When I'm at concerts I'm using 2 EOS 5D with 16-35 and 70-200 (24-70 in my pocket - in case of...).
Now I have to think about something🤣

Well if you're in front of the front at a concert with a 60mp camera and get special treatment by the band that is literally posing for shots, why would you need a long lens or a zoom.
