Oh, ragtime. It's such a nice genre.
but poor upgrade resources
Roz t Ragtime is the upgrade resource. It’s what helped birth jazz and blues. Without jazz and blues, we wouldn’t have even half of the music we have, nowadays.
Breath of fresh air.
@Lit Bro I like Ragtime. Please do not malign it by blaming it for modern "music"!
@@rozt107
All popular western music today is descended from the new and exciting foundation that ragtime laid - it was _the_ quintessential music upgrade in US American culture, the USA's very own equivalent to classical music (in terms of its historical effect and legacy), aside from the blues.
BRING RAGTIME MUSIC BACK (2019)
Bring ragtime music back (2020)
Well I mean, there still is a modern ragtime composer alive, Tom brier.
SQUARE HEAD SAM his dead from a car crash
88 Acoustic he’s not dead, he is paralyzed, check his friends discord. He updates it very frequently
SQUARE HEAD SAM ok, thanks I was misinformed
Hell yeah, more rag.
Yes! Scott Joplin! :)
As I listen to this, a smile appears on my face at once
It's too bad more isn't known about Scott Joplin. He was African American in the 1800's writing piano music, and some of my favorite. The Entertainer, The Mapleleaf Rag, etc. etc. All these songs he makes all sound unique and different they are masterpieces of their own right. I'd love to see a movie about his life made like they did for Johnny Cash and Ray Charles.
"Scott Joplin" 1977: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Joplin_(film)
They made a movie about him 30 years before the other two you were talking about.
@@joechrisman217 yeah. Not really a movie. A made for tv movie. And produced by Motown.
He was from Canada
@@818Dimples he was born in the American south 4 years after the civil war
Oh look, I clicked on one of these, time to watch countless of these even though I will never learn them.
If you can read music, this is as easy as they get.
Same here
@@yummygopher1065 not really, it feels pretty simple when you play it yourself.
@@yummygopher1065 lol what? Is it hard for you to play with flats or something?
@@yummygopher1065 bruh the flats make it way easier. I haven played any garbage in middle C in a long time and its Ben the best
1:38 its like that first part in maple leaf rag
Same composer, also the final theme in the song is very similar to the “Ragtime Dance”.
Terrific rag. Willard Bailey's "Favorite Rag" is similar to the Preacherine, slightly more complex and with great syncopation.
Ok something I've noticed is in ragtime, the left hand tends to bounce between a staccato undertone and a chord or playing an octave apart in a short melody. While the right hand plays a chord melody where the accented note isn't always on the downbeat, giving the ragged sound we know and love.
👍
0:24 is the best part. change my mind!
1:38 😉
Didn’t expect to you here derpy.
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 Didn’t expect to be called back to this old (cringe?) comment of mine, either :)
one of my favorites too!
I LOVE Ragtime songs, but this one has got to be my FAVORITE! :O
2 months ago I woke up with this song playing in my head. I don't ever remember hearing it before, I honestly thought I must have made it up!
This one's my favourite of every rag I've played. Not that I've played all of them up to the correct pace, but there's something about this one. The melodies just flow, and each bit feels properly unique even though they fit together beautifully. Bravo, Scott Joplin, bravo
Thanks. My personal favorite too. I could dance my feet off!
This piece always sets me off in a good mood. :D
I'M SO LEARNING THIS
We busting some shapes to this one! Absolute belter its one of my favourite Spyro tunes. Very well played! 😊
Love the Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton pieces on this channel!
This is the only MIDI peacherine rag time song I can find to use for 'sight reading' without having to memorize the notes which I'm less skilled at. In other words: Thanks very much for this!
it's just a bit fast. but no problem!
underrated
This ragtime just makes you want to start snapping, tapping, and swinging, a lot of the chords are actually originated from old jazz, which also carries the sane kind of "mood" albeit at a much slower pace and more diminished chords, personally I like ragtime, it's faster, and more fun to play!
Ragtime also has a bue of swing to, not as much as jazz tho
Yes, ragtime and jazz are related. But as nationally popular music, it was ragtime that came first, then jazz. The main dates for ragtime are about 1898-1917. Jazz became popular nationally in the US from about 1915 onwards. It was jazz that borrowed from ragtime (and from the blues), more than the other way around. Two things that jazz added that ragtime did not make much use of were (1) blue notes and (2) swing.
Really enjoyed this one! Do more Ragtime in the future please.
Thank you for making this song into midi, I can play this song and never knew how complicated it looked!
Is IT easier Than IT looks like? IT looks dam hard
@@karlvilhelmerlandsson4730 you’ll find a lot of small patterns that pop up when learning it

basically every song
Wow almost 100k subs, congrats!!
Scott Joplin is well documented. He composed in late 19 th and early 20th century. There are several biographies, and more than one movie about his life and career. He founded a school for ragtime and taught several of the ragtime greats.
I would love some more jazz or blues :D
I have been wanting you to do Scott Joplin but i feel this is too fast. It doesn't mater, Scott Joplin is good any way you play him
Hell yeah raaaagggggtiiiiimmmmeee¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2x speed its just beautiful
@lalala lalala both
No
the original speed is if you put it to 0.75 speed.

Maple leaf rag is more fun to play though
I like it!
more ragtime!
hahah I like it ! :D
I'm gonna learn this song
i don’t know why, but 0:24 reminds me of the Phineas & Ferb theme. :/
I love this
0:46 makes me think of an old school disney move
Oh yeah HELL YEAH RAGTIME
PLEASE MORE RAGTIMES!!!
Me learning this 4 years ago was a pain..
Do you have any tips?
@@akseltrnnes1146 I have!
Practise the left Hand more! Because the right one is "easy",
If you Master the left one, then go over to right!
Bruh learning this was one of most I’ve had fun while learning
theres a few notes missing in this midi it seems. For instance 0:11 it plays G + Db but it's missing the Bb note which somehow comes back a bar later
pineapple rag please!
yeha i want more clasical music too, and something sad.... Can you make?? :) i've already learned 50% of etudes tableux just from your video on my piano, thank you so much!!
Lior Davidov Yea more classical!
It's nice
Makes me want to get into a fight at an ol’ saloon
I'm getting The Headmaster flashbacks 😂😂
😍
If I ever meet God, I'll ask him to give me the gift of piano playing. This is awesome! Speed it down to 0.75 and it'll be the normal speed.
Yes.
Here is the exact same piano roll, but at the intended speed.

I like Joplin and I have reimagined some of his rags on the synthesiser (he'd probably roll in his grave if he heard them... then again maybe he'd pat me on the back for having the balls to do it). However great your playing is (and you are excellent) the sound isn't as good as it would be played on a beat-up old barroom piano. I recall the great pianist Winifred Atwell detuning a Steinway Grand (YES!!!) so she could give a Honky Tonk concert since her old brown box was not available. Of course, being an expert piano tuner, she re-tuned the Steinway afterwards so the next person to play it would never know.
pianoREADER Hello :) Could you say , where can i buy your music sheets? I really wanna try to learn THE CRAVE / performed by "Perfessor" Bill Edwards.
Can you do Chopin's Posthumous Prelude no 26 in A flat Major?
Black from Meet the Colors
Hi pianoREADER, can you play G.F Handel - Chaconne in G Major HWV 435? It would be great pleasure if you play it! I hope you fulfil my request. Greetings from Indonesia.
Without ragtime there wouldnt be the Paul McCartney we know today
Great rag but this performance is way too fast. What’s the rush?
There is no reason to say that this piece was too fast. It was actually played at the perfect pace!
@@PlzLikeMyRobloxVidzit’s on the fast side when it comes what tempo Joplin played.
An easier version of maple leaf rag
Edit: if you look closely, you can see some of the techniques used in maple leaf rag used in this.
Same with the ragtime dance, which is extremely similar to this songs final theme.
I know how to play Maple Leaf Rag and this doesn't seem any easier to me.
Similar yes! 1:38 is very similar to second section of Maple Leaf Rag.
I admire Scott Joplin so much. I can play maple leaf rag also, and I have advanced in piano much since when I wrote this comment, now I can see why this doesn’t seam any easier.
@@capooty89bc86 nah you're taking the piss if you don't think this seems easier. Maple Leaf is diabolical in parts. This one's pretty simple to learn, in truth. Sounds more complex than it is
mind if i use this in an upcoming video? :)
so fast it played,but brilliant
It should be just a hair fast then .75 speed
1:37
I was wondering why the main music to Namco’s Toypop sounded so familiar!
But its still amazing
I'd like "Greenwich Witch"!
This song was in Westworld but it takes place in the 1860s and this song was written in 1901. Inaccuracies I say lmao.
Would you mind if I used this as background music for my videos if I link to this video in the description?
Can you cover "Wedding March Mendelssohn" in rag or jazz or blues?? Hahaha...
Pls, pineapple rag Scott Joplin.

Víctor White ya se pero en los comentarios siii
Very nice work as always but ... more beethoven please 🎹
Wait wait, I've heard this somewhere
do you have sheet music for this?
Find it in web
Wonderful tune by a pre jazz great.
But it’s gotta be played alot slower.
Nope, that's a misconception. Rags were not blazing fast, but they were not usually slow either.
@@Persun_McPersonsonthen why do a lot of his rags say 72bpm? That’s a slow tempo…
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912
Most rags of his didn't even have metronome markings, they had generic instructions like "tempo di marcia" ("march tempo"), "not too fast", etc. Some of his do indicate that it should be a slow march, which 72 BPM would fall under, but that does not apply to Peacharine.
was watching for the dog
Moral of theme:Maybe u have to suffer today but there will be happiness!!!
Allahamdullilah i suffered and now I am winner
great, but can you do more classic music ?
Of course, it's just that ragtime makes me so warm and fuzzy inside... haha
pianoREADER i love you
Hey PianoREADER, long time no see! Anyway, on that "note" can you please do "Le fille aux cheveux de lin"(the girl with the flaxen hair) by Debussy. It is truely beautiful and deserves a good tutourial done on it, however it has recieved almost no such thing! Please could you do it
2:11 did anyone noticed it
Trolly Troll notice what?
Are you pointing at how the chord doesn't appear as colours on the piano?
Too fast! Slow this down about 15 percent and you get this song perfect!
I think this is the right tempo
ua-cam.com/video/7VVCDaS7u3g/v-deo.html
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 Yeah, it's ok, though slower also works, it's one of those songs that sounds good as both
Bitte Film ab!
Do it in C major
1:39 marple leaf?
Edit: i mean thats sounds like it
No
Same composer tho
reminds me of fats waller for some reason
What key is it?????
It starts in E-flat major, but at the trio it switches to the subdominant A-flat major, where it stays for the remainder of the piece
Mostly correct except you forgot that in this particular rag, the second section goes to the dominant of B-Flat Major. It modulates back to E-Flat next section and then A-Flat for the Trio.
wtf 1:46 am i the only one who heard maple leaf rag in there
@Samuel Guzelyurt ok
Too fast.
Over jingle bells
3 Views... what
A great rag played way too fast. All subtleties are lost --too bad because there are many. Joplin would have rapped your knuckles.
It’s the right speed, maybe a hair slower,
Came here from Meet the Colors
you came from “Meet The Colours”?
*...how young are you?*

TO FAST BRUH
It’s just right actually
This piece is too flat.
Get it?
Because It’s in Eb, Bb and Ab Major
No one?
Ok.....
Ludwig Van Beethoven 😒
JW Minecraft Look... I didn’t mean to offend Scott.
you play wrong !
Well this is based of a piano roll of the day, so not really
Way too fast!
Nope! Very typical ragtime tempo.
@@Persun_McPersonsonnot for Joplin it isn’t.
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912
No, it was a typical ragtime tempo back then too, "fast" with ragtime always meant blazing speed.
@@Persun_McPersonsonmaybe for a standard rag, but it comes to Joplin, people who heard him play described his style as “slow and methodical”
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912
That description could be interpreted several different ways due to the nature of ragtime, is the thing. Some of his rags are given the instruction of a march tempo, which is certainly _not_ slow in the way you're thinking, it's just not blazing fast like many ragtime players would do to show off.
In the end, if the exact tempo really mattered then metronome markings would have always been used instead of vague instructions like "not too fast" being left up to the player to interpret.
