I love reviews like this: no nonsense and to the point. No unnecessary fluff. The review was kept solely about the product and not about the reviewer themselves. It's also not 3 hours long. That's a definitely plus in my book. Liked and subscribed. Cheers
Nah, range above 250 miles doesn't matter. On a road trip it's all about fast charging speed, that will save you hours of time and headache compared to raw range.
Your best video yet! Without Alex. But too much info all at once. U need some visual on screen aids to help the viewer. Pricing , performance, packaging info etc.
Word of advice: When you have a lot of information like all the different configurations of the Rivian, use infographics. Use a chart so you can see all the different configurations laid out at once and easy to view. A dual motor, a dual motor performance .... A chart is extremely helpful and would make complicated configurations very easy to quickly understand without very much effort. Just saying.
i feel like all the excitement in the car market is in evs now. i don’t care much for gas cars anymore. once the V8 goes away(long live ford for keeping it alive for now) , i can’t get excited about 4 cylinder hybrids anymore
Love my '22 R1T Quad. Would upgrade to this Gen 2 if it had 2 things; 19.2kW AC on-board charging, and V2H capability (that is functional today). Hear me RJ? You got another sale if you can make these happen lol
Holly cow I really like the look of rivian. The only thing that I would change is the range as I’d like more range. 400 miles of is decent and could be considered good however for me considering the nearest ev charging station is about 100 miles away I’d definitely buy one yf it had a range of 700+ miles of range per charge so I don’t have to worry about charging so often
I really want to see how the LFP battery pack tows. I have a 3k lb boat/trailer and need to make it 150 miles. Would love about 200 miles while towing it like my 4Runner gets.
So glad they are not doing a stupid subscription with the autonomous driving. Other than Internet connectivity, I'm not paying for any other subscriptions.
I didn't have any issues in the short time I had with it but I would expect it wouldn't be back in production if it hadn't been reworked significantly. -Travis
The "old" Max pack was just the large pack with the updated chemistry. So this gen all sizes move to the new chemistry. So no the max doesn't change because it was already on the new cells.
If it’s just a commuter, it’s not a truck. It’s a $100k toy, that’ll be worth $0 in 10 years. 400 mi range has been the standard for decades. Remember, it’ll lose range depending on the weather and age of the battery.
The Silverado EV on sale right now is 440 stated range for about $97,000, the Dual Motor Rivian with Max Pack is 420 stated range for $83,900. There's a big gap there in price. -Travis
The thing about the Silverado EV is that it can ONLY go 460 miles while having a much bigger battery compared to the Rivian. Which means it is far less efficient, which isn’t surprising to me. The big three are going to need to drastically improve the efficiency of their EV motors in order to reduce the size, weight and cost of battery packs going forward.
And the cost of ownership. Losing money on resale like a Mercedes. It will be worth $0 in 10 years. Good luck. Hope it don’t self-immolate like a guru and burn your house down. EVs are awesome! Thank God the govt is taking our money to pay us to buy them.
with all the money they're losing for each vehicle sold, I'm not sure Rivian will be around for the long term.. buying their products is risky as service and spare parts might not be available in the future if they go bankrupt
Ford is "losing money" getting EV products to market, that doesn't mean Ford is going out of business. It takes time and money to build new products, much less a new company. Not everybody makes it but I'm not too concerned about Rivian. -Travis
Rivian will be around for years. They will have no problem getting additional funding if they need it and can also issue more stock… would suck for stockholders but give the company a lot more cash. Also rumors always around that someone big will simply buy them….Apple?
This is always a concern with any new company but Rivian is on track for positive gross margins by end of the year (thanks to a lot of changes we're now starting to see with the gen2), and they still have billions in cash and more available credit if needed.
They will be bought out. If not, government will bail them out like they usually do for American automakers. (Support the American automaker economy and in major MAJOR wartime, the U.S. can transform these American car manufacturing factories into military manufacturing)

Way better than the Cyber truck!!
Got that right?
Was already way better
Still overpriced.
💯
@@SteveSabbai yeap it will go to monthly leasing rate >> to monthly payments rate
i bet its not worth $55K -60k
Thanks for both R1S and R1T review videos. Very helpful as our family is considering an R1T.
Hope the videos help! -Travis
I hope you like your minion's designed 8k lbs ev
You won’t be disappointed. Best car I’ve ever owned and the refresh looks even better.
Thanks for sharing. Excited to check it the refreshed Rivian R1T.
Lease it, cause the resale will be crap. Poor lease cars they can’t afford, while richies buy cars they can.
Maybe I’m old, but I’ve always thought that range was WAY more important than horsepower and 0-60 times.
How about both? 400mi and 2.9 0-60
Especially with an electric car
Nah, range above 250 miles doesn't matter. On a road trip it's all about fast charging speed, that will save you hours of time and headache compared to raw range.
Really nice reviuw, thank you.
Rivian looks very promising, with an impressive development in just a short period of time.

Great review you covered all that was relevant to me 🙌🏽👍
GM and Ford have some 1999 Java application looking thing for their software and Rivian is absolutely blowing them out of the water.
Good job with the Honey Bucket comment. Keep them coming!

Im waiting for V2H as I live in a place where we lose power when someone sneezes
From the reviews, you have the better one.
The open pore wood is beautiful. To think that Tesla wants nearly as much for their monstrosity
Hello. Hope the next model comes with rear wheels turning with a minimum of 10 degrees so that we in EUROPE can get around
Nice! A lightweight, inexpensive 2 door version with a solar bed cover would be even nicer!
I missed it if you mentioned it…. Is that the Storm Blue color?

Just get a charger installed at your house.

Hahaha! Remember, it’s a truck mimic, not a truck.

Nice truck
What color is that? Storm Blue?
looks like it is still shipping with ccs instead of nacs; any update on if they will be making the switch soon?
No official word on when we'll see J3400/NACS on the R1's. -Travis
2025
I wish the cabin was bigger
Wonder if this bed cover will last more than a day before it breaks. Hopefully they don't have interns designing it this time.
I didn't have any issues in the short time I had with it but I would expect it wouldn't be back in production if it hadn't been reworked significantly. -Travis
Wait so the max pack is still the old chemistry?
The "old" Max pack was just the large pack with the updated chemistry. So this gen all sizes move to the new chemistry. So no the max doesn't change because it was already on the new cells.
The second generation max pack is using a similar but improved chemistry from the original battery. -Travis
Are these going to be in Tesla supercharger network?
Yes... they are now allowed in the Tesla network
where is the nacs connector?
Not present at this time. The R2 was shown with the connector but that vehicle is still a ways off. -Travis
Just stop being stubborn and add Apple CarPlay, or jailbreak button for apple carplay.
The efficiency numbers are conspicuously missing. Does it still take 54 kWh to travel 100 miles? (Edmund’s test results)
Lol no
Depends on the weather. Is it cold? Windy?
Rivian and Tesla are the only relevant brands in the EV sector. Either choice you cant go wrong.......
Snatching bragging rights back from the CT?
For my money I would probably be leaning towards the Rivian. -Travis
Funny, as if they ever lost them.
No Apple CarPlay
Still no heads up display, not even as an option? Strange omission.
Woah
4:19 And any Chinese manufacturer could make these headlights 10 times thinner, more precise and more sophisticated.
Honestly, i love the look and functionality but wayyyy too many options.
The powertrain list is a bit confusing but it gets a little easier once you pick your range and power. -Travis
You only have to choose once.
Truck on race track….why?
I thought they were going out of business
What is the range of these vehicles my God who the hell cares about the horsepower zero 60 and a truck get with it?
420 for max pack
Why is it always range ppl want to know? I don’t know a single person who commutes 350+ per day. You can charge at home every day if needed.
If it’s just a commuter, it’s not a truck. It’s a $100k toy, that’ll be worth $0 in 10 years. 400 mi range has been the standard for decades. Remember, it’ll lose range depending on the weather and age of the battery.
22 inch wheels. No thanks
actually, the Silverado EV can go 460 miles and has the same price point and power
The Silverado EV on sale right now is 440 stated range for about $97,000, the Dual Motor Rivian with Max Pack is 420 stated range for $83,900. There's a big gap there in price. -Travis
@@AAutoBuyersGuide and power. The Rivian Quad will trash the Silverado
The Rivian is 200 more HP.

Apple car play? Nope? Fail
With a UI that looks like that, you want Apple’s boring trash? Barf.
Can you prevent this from burning down my house and my neighbors house?
No houses were burned in the filming of this review. -Travis
This has never happened from a Rivian. Stop spreading FUD.
with all the money they're losing for each vehicle sold, I'm not sure Rivian will be around for the long term.. buying their products is risky as service and spare parts might not be available in the future if they go bankrupt
They had factored the over publicized losses on the early R1 vehicles into their business model.
They are doing OK.

charge status on the outside of the vehicle? on all the time? being displayed to other motorists? Dumb, if so.
No, just when parked and plugged in
You can turn off the charge status indication for the exterior of the vehicle
0 to bankrupt in 2.5 years.
i think they should have gone w 48V and steer by wire as well..I dorve one its like Truck but they market it as if a car or suv
