ah shit. I started watching your stuff around the time you documented the move up to alaska. ...and here you are dipnetting already. I was thinking you weren't a resident long enough and went to chitina illegally, but that move really was a year ago. wow.
YOu seem like the perfect person to live in ak. YOu're getting your hands in everything that makes the state great for outdoors people, and you're getting yourself out to so many of the locations

It has been a year, hard to believe. That's why I had to wait till July to dipnet to make sure it was that fully year, but now that i am, i can dipnet earliernext year when the salmon are still bright. It's been a fun time so far. Winter kind of is shitty, but you got to get out and do something. Have a couple more videos coming out for the rest of the year of some more journeys not many people take.

it's definitely a must try once kinda thing. It's interesting to do but not many people i know actually do it regularly.. I know a guy from delta who goes to chitina, to get his limits then gives it all away because he enjoys the process. He prefers bottom fish. A few friends have been on fish wheels and they'll never do it again. The fishing was very good, but the amount of work is soul crushing. hahaha.
yeah, the winters are dark and the snow is generally crazy. Other people live for the winters and the snow machining or skiing. sort out your snow removal early, and get your furnace serviced even earlier because the few guys who do it get booked up fast. have a backup plan like electric/kerosene heaters or whatever
also time for pfd. you missed the record $3200, but whatever. it's all fun money.
