Gaula River 2022 - Finally Back Where It All Started

- Follow Jakob, Mikael and some of our best old fishing buddies back to the Norwegian Gaula, back to where what's now called the “Scandinavian Style” once was born. Tune in to Håkan, Roland and Jonas talking about their early guiding days, when catching salmon on a fly on the cold June river was something truly special.
The mighty Gaulfossen and GFF-water is where this reunion happened-while presenting the Gaula River to the next generation of salmon anglers. Overall tricky fishing with a lot of water, but also some dramatic runs that made the guys feel they're now getting too old for this “shit”!

What a great father. Sensitive, in tune, firm - passing down a legacy to Jacob.
its great to see you fishing the old river with old friends. there are so many ghosts when you fish water from your past, the times in silence give you so much time to reflect
Awesome to see Jonas and Rolle still working on the Gaulfossen and loving those magnificent fish. I miss to stay on the Reppefarm with Annie and Per. It always was my pleisure to be such welcome by all you fine people. In fact I met Rolle and Michael for a first time on Reppe about 30 years ago. Time passes by. Very nice movie! ❤
Nice to see old friends still having fun . Thanks for sharing
Wow. I used to go to Norway to the Glomma. Until i got interessed in spey casting (which already was replaced by skagit and scandi style fishing. I practiced at home a bit, so i sucked. The months before i had my vacation period, I watched every evening after work about water levels. About the Salmon counter and of course the catches. Many photos of giant salmon. My vacation was in September! So, i didnt caught anything, only one mini char as big as my tubefly! One other Norwegian guy rented the beat with me . He was clearly a "pro" caster. His very limited english vocubalare made it difficult to communicate. But he also didnt catch. We were late for the salmon run up the rivers he told me. The Gaula fish counter was his reference. Of course its even the most "zen" time spend in Norway. Being very expensive all together, the rent of a nearby basement with floor heating, all modern house hold devices. Tv
Another great video from a great bunch of guys! Tight lines gentlemen!

Awesome movie. GOD bless you Mikael, your family and your fishing buddies!!!
Great video used to fish with my father on the river Tay in the 70s I now fish with my son on the same river telling him how good Fishing used to be . Best sport in the world.
Mikael can't think of better way to spend a week with old friends and Jakob on the Magical Gaula...someday 😁🙏
I absolutely enjoyed the movie, Michael! Takk! 🙏
I really enjoyed that Mikael, there's something great about getting back to one's roots and enjoying those "special' places that mean so much to us. Sharing this with old friends and family cannot be topped but as with all of those things, it's familiar, but never quite the same as before. I like this too because as salmon fishermen it makes us open minded. Fantastic discussions with your good old pals and great to see the next generation enjoying too. Just such a nice film.
Wow that brings back memories for me too. Last time I fished there it was managed by Manfred Reguse. My friend hooked an enormous fish in the famous Bridge Pool and it ran down the Gauntlet and straightened the hook. Happy days.
Very nice video Mikael. Your son seems to be a good angler - "chip off the old block" as we say. Best Phil
Som alltid grymt fina fiskefilmer tack Mikael❤
Old guys rule! 🙂
