I got frustrated trying to find a reliable shower steamer recipe in grams/percentages, so I devised my own, experimenting and testing different percentages until I hit the mark with this formula. When I initially researched shower steamers, I could only find UA-cam recipes from American makers (who are fantastic, I should add) that tend to share recipes in ounces and volume measures, like cups and spoons. I find grams far easier, more logical and precise to formulate with, and after experimenting with different percentages of a variety of ingredients, I now have a foolproof formula that produces very firm, compact and strong aromatherapy shower steamers that are a shower powerhouse and a knockout hit with my customers.
In this video, I just use a plain mould with multiple cavities to form the shower steamers by hand - I personally find a minimalist design more appealing for shower steamers and bath bombs, but that's just me. Of course, if you have a moon cake or bath bomb press, you can use those to mould your steamers. However this video is really about the formula.

Thank you for doing a recipe in grams, it is easier for us Aussies. I'm going to give it a go because mine are never as nice and hard as yours look. ❤
The oils you use deteriorate the gloves with the friction of use.
Very helpful tutorial you have shared with us ~ Much appreciated 🌷🐝
I enjoyed your video and your accent. I want to try these. Thank you.
what an enjoyable and informative and relaxed video, so refreshing and thanks for sharing the recipe i can't wait to try these.
Hi Boop. Thanks!
Thank you,I wanted to make shower streamers for a while, watched different you tube, but really enjoyed your take on them. Will definitely try them.
Glad it was helpful!
THX for share love from Argentina!
Thank you Paula!
The ending was hilarious! I’ll be watching many more of your videos. This recipe is also much more sophisticated than the others I’ve seen. Mine were made with only baking soda, citric acid, menthol crystals, essential oils and maybe some arrowroot powder…they dissolve way too quickly. I’ll try this recipe.
I think getting them really compacted down and solid is half the battle with getting them to last longer.
Thank you….
Welcome!
Definitely the best shower steamer recipe I have seen so far. 👌It’s a bonus that all the measurements are metric ( eg . grams ) because you definitely do get more accurate measurements in grams .
Thank you soo much for sharing this lovely shower steamer recipe so generously 🌸
Best wishes .

Glad you like it!

These look and I'm sure smell amazing. Have you tried Nitrile gloves as they are a little thicker especially the black and I don't find my fingers break nearly as often. I love all your recipes and products. Thankyou for sharing I love that you use grams rather than ounces
No, I haven't Tanya. I'll have to see if I can get some. Thanks for the tip Tanya.
New subscriber.. loved your video...
Thank you Elaine!
What do you sell your steamers for, love you salt idea for identification, thank you for sharing ❤
In English pounds £3.75 each. They do better at some markets than others. They do best in areas where there are lots of University students who share houses where there is no bath, just showers.
Great video 📸. I make my own when my husband had covid. Great job. What's the name of that oil 🪔 that begins with B?
Thanks Paige! There are a few that begin with B - Bergamot, Black Pepper, Basil, one of the Balsams, Bay Laurel?
Benzoin? Had to google what it was.
Ah, Benzoin. It's a resin really, but I use a ready prepared pourable version. I find the scent vaguely sweet and powdery and it's often used as a fixative to bind more volatile essential oils. Used in aromatherapy, it is said to have a tranquilising effect, making it useful for anxiety, stress and, of course, insomnia.
@@sugarwelluk . Thank you ❤️
It i ok dont have all these oils available, do you recommend adjusting the grams of oils I add to add up to the total number of oil grams you used in the recipe? Or should I just add more coconut oil for example I do t want my lavender to be too strong for example if I don’t add the other oils. Does that make sense 😬🤷🏽♀️
If you are talking about the essential oils, that's entirely up to you. The coconut oil is in there to help dissolve the menthol crystals, which are readily soluble in oils in general. They will, in fact, dissolve in just essential oils or any carrier oil. I chose coconut as a carrier because it is solid at room temp, inexpensive and may just slow down how quickly the steamers dissolve in the shower. However, you do want them to be strong enough to give off enough vapour in the shower, so I suggest an essential oil/menthol (combined) content no lower than 3%. I hope this answers your question.
Hi could you use any oil or even fractionated coconut oil and would it be the same amount. Thank you ❤
Honestly, I have no idea as I have never used fractionated coconut oil. However, it's listed as an oil in recipe calculators, so I don't see why not as long as any potential lye adjustments are made.
@@sugarwelluk Thank you. I've made a batch tonight so I'll see how they turn out. No lye 🤔 as it's shower steamers ❤️
@@sharonturnbull2076 Sorry! I thought I was commenting on a soap video, LOL! I've not been with it lately...
Is the link to your site broken? I tried to follow and WIX said it isn’t connected to anything.
Yes, sorry. The website is offline. I'm redesigning the website and changing the domain. Not sure when it will be back up and running. If you email me at sugarwelluk@gmail.com, I can send you the formula I used in this video.
that intro music with “Relaxing” text is the least relaxing thing ever 😂 I am trying to get sleepy again in the middle of the night so that music blasting was hilarious!
Well..... you see, I was trying to contrast the stress against the relief, and screechy, throbbing dubstep seemed quite the thing.... Sorry.
Do you remove these from the silicone mold immediately or let them dry overnight in the mold.
Hi Karen! I transfer them to a room with a dehumidifier running and let them dry out for a few hours (or overnight) before unmoulding them. With the mould I use in the vid, I stretch it around a bit to loosen the steamers before unmoulding too.
I’m in US but I prefer grams. 😅
They're so easy to work with, especially when it comes to weighing very small amounts, sometimes even smaller than a gram, as you might need when experimenting making a small test batch of a cosmetic.
