Wow those figurines are awesome! very accurate, you even got the Sikh turbans correct and their uncut tied up beards. Very nice. My grandfather a Sikh soldier fought in WW2 against the Japanese in Burma, nice to see the representation.
Thanks very much! The sculpts are 100% not me, but I also really appreciate the detail on them. A few of them had teeth too, so the look like they're screaming charging forward. I don't know if that came out in the video. The Chindits, Burma and the jungle IJA are all someday projects.
Thank you, Dom. It was like a trip to the dentist every time I looked at them for awhile there. I'll have to get the DAK done before they hit the table. We'll see.
ノブさん御覧いただいて誠にありがとうございました。いつか35スケールでボルトアクショーン軍をプラモデル好きな日本人のために作りたいなんです。 Thank you so much for watching, Nobu! Someday, I want to make a 1/35 scale Bolt Action Army for all the Japanese modelers out there. :)
Thanks, dude. The TYW stuff is OK. Some of the figures are great looking and then others are like really bad sculpts. The cannons are pretty solid though.
Just saw this James. I think it's brilliant that this army gets some representation. They don't get enough recognition for the help they gave during both World Wars. Well done.👏👏👏👏
Cheers, Al. I had a lot of fun doing up the figures, but I wish that there had been more head choices. I wanted to make sure the Bren drivers also had the Sikh Turbans to complete the army. Sadly, British or Commonwealth Armies are going to be on the back burner for a while until Tamiya re-issues the Bren carrier. I've done up at least a dozen of them and they are about $6US or so compared to the $25 ish that Warlord sells.
Great paint as always and thanks for the plug, brother. If your secret travels find yourself in the Lone Star State, let us know. We'll get ya fat and drunk on Texas BBQ and beer.
Thanks, Lucian. Yeah, I thought about the crusader for a bit, but kits come and go here and that one has vanished. I've been driving my little car for 15 years and never had any problems with it that were an issue with the car. Flat tires a couple, but it's dependable.
Thanks, Anthony. I didn't like the Matilda builds. The Bren Gun carriers were OK. I think this is the 4th or 5th Commonwealth army I've painted and I'm going to take a hiatus from them for a while.
Thanks. It seemed UA-cam was the only place I could let that steam out as no one else would know what the hell I'm upset about. I'm glad this army is done and in the books.
Cheers, dude. Thanks for pointing it out. I don't know how I messed that up, but I can't say I'm surprised that I did. lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
I don't know if this project was cursed, but you made it across the finished line. These look fantastic. Beautifully done, James, as always. Looking forward to the next one!
Nicely done. I presume its one of the campaign lists from the Western desert book to allow you to take 2 tanks? There are a number of tournaments in our scene that have stopped using the lists from campaign books. However I can't see too much of an issue when some other "Armies of" book lists let you take 2 tanks.
Thanks, Ken. I'm not sure about the list being a campaign list or not. I picked it because of its title. I did notice some of the new special national rules were a bit cheesy, so I had to take another free unit as it was the cheesiest. Usually I take vengeance as you can sneakily pre-measure and then use some math to figure out how far your other units are away from the enemy.
That is a very impressive Commonwealth army. Well done! You got alot of project´s on your hand there, looking forward to see those TYW cannons & crew, what range are they from?
Thanks very much. Unfortunately, I have no idea which manufacturer made the TYW cannon and neither does the person I'm painting them for. He said he had them in a box for over 25 years and just wanted to get them done. The reference he sent me was pretty generic. When you see them, and if you recognize them, let me know. They are a little bigger, I'd say more 32mm than 28mm.
Nice Sikhs. I have them in the pile of possibilities for 3 years now, but never was in the mood to paint them. Maybe they will get their turn this year, your video was inspiring.👍
Glad you liked the video and got you thinking about them. The box is a lot more versatile then what I did. I went for maximum cheese for the lowest points. I think the lt. mortars would be a nice addition if I were to do them again.
Really enjoyed your content and understand your struggle to complete a project. I've built a lot of Tamiya stuff and found if I found something quirky, it was me and not the model. Nice to see another "1:48" scale modeler too. If you're in need of some Bren gun for the Universal Carriers, you have a few options. Cut out the arms of extras on your spruces...or you buy some metal ones from CompanyB Models. They do a nice 1:56 scale meatal for a reasonable price. As a Chain Of Command player, you content is still inspiring and motivating to maybe do a Sikh force.
Thank you very much! I've got a Company B model coming up in a project that is just over the horizon and it was a good build. I did do their IJA Paratroops and they were kind of hit and miss. Chain of Command looks like a fun game, but the rarity that I get to play kind of dictates that we play Bolt Action because we all know the rules and it's never a serious affair as it is 50/50 gaming and just bullshitting. I mean, I'm usually 5 beers deep by turn 3 and then we're deciding which Misfits or ZZ Top CD to play next. lol
@@jvcpaints Tracking! Chain of Command would sound like a serious game, its just a better representation of squad/team movement and relies on command and control. Our games here are mostly movie quotes...especially when I field an American Armored rifle platoon, and I have the Warlord Games Kelly's Heroes figure...whoof whoof. The Brigade Games stuff seems anemic and works great for putting them in vehicles and what not. As for part of a squad/platoon, they could look a lil out of place with manufactures.
Another very nice army, great job. I'm looking forward to see future projects, whether they are ancient or WWII. Go check our blog, the guest star from your Gauls video will feature as the new addition to our collection
Thanks, Ginzio. Your brother told me the figure is now on the blog. Last I heard, he was painting some Ronald McDonald Napoleonic Swiss or something. I'd like to see those too.
Thank you very much! I primed them with Mr.Hobby Mahogany surface primer (It's a primer that is sold in Japan). I find that priming in brown really helps speed up the process for a lot of WW2 armies. I hope that helps.

Cracking job, splendid brown/green shades!!
Thank you very much, Phil.
Fantastic work on the small scale. Thanks for sharing
Thanks very much.
beautiful job on these troops
Thank you very much. It took a long time from concept to today.
Fantastic army James despite the ball ache. They’ll probably be amazing on the table to make up for it!
Thank you, Dom. It was like a trip to the dentist every time I looked at them for awhile there. I'll have to get the DAK done before they hit the table. We'll see.
Nice work as always. They're very very small but absolutely realistic. Must fun to see.

Look class man! North Africa is defos my fav theatre.
Thanks a bunch, dude. I'm taking a break from the desert for a while finishing off a 1940 German Army and then the 1944 Warsaw Uprising guys.
Awesome paint job dude! I’m curious about the 30 years war stuff.
Thanks, dude. The TYW stuff is OK. Some of the figures are great looking and then others are like really bad sculpts. The cannons are pretty solid though.
Cracking job James, they look brilliant mate
Cheers, Sean.

Thanks for the book, too. I don't think I'll be heading into that hemisphere this year, but I could do with some bbq and beers for sure.
@@jvcpaints We'll leave the light on for ya and save a rack of ribs.
Super looking army, if you add a crusader will look awesome, Japanese cars are the best, i have one. Cheers James.

Thats a great looking force..

Very cool army James. Must of had to put some work into the tamiya vehicles.

Thanks, Josh. The curse remains to be seen. But, I know that the expectations I had for them got totally inverted along the way. lol

Great looking force! I love the Western Desert stuff
Thanks very much, dude. Someday, hopefully, I'll have the Warlord DAK to go along with them.

Great looking army !! Haha F the desert 🏜!
