- Hello fellow wargaming and painting addicts!
In this video, I take a look at the Warlord Games and Perry Miniatures Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK) figures and briefly go over the positives and the negatives. Not a full "Army Showcase", but an infantry focused video for those wanting to take a look at the figures and how they scale up.
Thanks for watching! Keep those brushes moving!
Nice painted dak, now it appear the video for me, i like the warlord ones more, more details more action poses.
The Warlord ones were more enjoyable to paint. You can get them done with about 5 or 6 colors and painting them 10 at a time is perfectly reasonable.
I´ve always wondered about the Perry kit, thanks for this review!
Glad you found it helpful. I found the Warlord one to be a lot easier to deal with for assembly and painting and a lot more sturdy in regard to the barrels of weapons and the like.
I really like the Warlord DAK kit. Great figures. Totally agree on the prone guys. Too many with each sprue having one. The Perrys seem okay (and I usually prefer Perrys) but I think you get better value from them since they pack each kit with a ton of figures. At the end of the day, I'd still go Warlord. Their kit is just a fun one to build out. Thanks for the comparison, James!
The Warlord DAK was my favorite of the two too. I think it took me so long to get them done because I did the 8th Army first and they were so vanilla by comparison. But, everyone has their preference, so if you're a true scale gamer, you'd probably prefer the Perry ones.
Useful video- thanks. Can't say I necessarily agree with your conclusions, but it'll all about opinions.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for checking it out.
Cracking job James, good to see both sets painted, they look excellent
Thanks, Sean. For painting, I'd go with the Warlord DAK.
Awesome figures again of course ;)..
Thank you for the kind words. I really have enjoyed your renaissance regiments you've been doing recently. Keep up the good work.
Both sets are great and you did a good job with the paintwork. Cool figures with interesting, action-packed poses. Which set is to prefer certainly depends on personal taste.
Both are expressive and both look good on the table. Best wishes and a nice weekend, James. Joachim
Thank you very much. The Perry WW2 stuff isn't as nice as their Napoleonic range, but it will get the job done.
Cracking job on these ones, love the bases as well (love the maps on the ground, nice touch with the stone...), excellent!👍👍
Thanks, Phil. The little extras in kits really helps bring the finished models to life.
Thanks for the comparison James. Great stuff!
Thanks for checking it out, Mark.
Interesting stuff. Lovely looking figures James
Thank you Cal. They were fun to do.
Oooft asking the hard questions. Honestly I cant decided myself xD
Thanks for dropping by, JMacc. I have to give it to Warlord here.
Great video James, thanks for sharing, loved the Fort 🤣
Thanks, Alex. I hope you enjoyed it.
Where you painting those Perry faces in the dark, dude? lol. Toothpick paint brush syndrome. Loved the Warlord ones. The steel helments look nice and worn.
Priming miniatures with white glue again, eh? And other "pro painting" tips. lol. I was in my sister's basement for 3 weeks. The lighting was bad, the brushes were bad and I was in a haze of reverse culture shock. I had to mount them on quarters because there were no bases. But I was compelled to paint while I was there, so...
I agree the warlord ones are tons better. Fab painting m8
Thanks for the kind words, Nick.
Yeah, I don't like the scale of Perry's stuff for wargaming. I HATE drone figures! Great paint as always and have a great game this weekend!
Prone figures are only OK for snipers and particular weapon teams, squads no thank you. The game went well! The Hill was taken.
@@jvcpaints Look forward to seeing the battle report!
Very nice mate. Great comparison. I don’t like the prone minis either. I tend to not use them, except maybe for spotters. No ginger Germans lol?
Thanks, Leon. Sadly, no gingers...yet. Shoehorn one or two in when I get around to the bigger guns. haha
Good stuff James! They look ace :)
Thanks very much, Dan. I hope you're going to get your Brettonians on the table soon.
Perry v Warlord - two different design philosophies I feel. I am quite partial to the warlord “action man” vibe myself
Me too. I think the Warlord ones are just too much fun to paint and just look at myself.
Nice comparison James
Thanks Justin.
Very good Afrika Korps.
Thanks very much, Christoph.
Try Empress figures, character and more realistic than Warlord. Paint like a charm.
THanks for the tip. Someday I hope to look at other manufacturers.
