JvC Paints
Приєднався 30 сер 2015
This is my gaming channel which I use to browse, comment upon and hopefully post wargaming related videos. I see myself more of a miniature painter rather than a gamer as I only get to game about once a month....if I'm lucky, but find time to paint daily. I live way off the unbeaten track of the fairly beaten track and in being so isolated use UA-cam as a means to keep up-to-date with the games I play (primarily Bolt Action now) as well as what's going on in the gaming world in general.

M8 SCOTT US Howitzer Motor Carriage for Bolt Action and Chain of Command
Переглядів 115Місяць тому
Welcome back to the channel everyone! It's been quite a while since I uploaded any 28mm WW2 miniatures, so I thought I'd break that drought with this M8 SCOTT US Howitzer Motor Carriage for Bolt Action and Chain of Command by Tamiya in 1/48. The project has rekindled my interest in doing more US World War II figures and models just in time for the drop of Bolt Action Version 3. Pretty stoked to...

They look nice, but I wish you had more angles of the newer pieces in your army. That said, about what is most important this time of year no paperbags on heads or waffle throwing on to the ice so far. The new coach is pretty solid.
Thanks. I was getting a bit flustered trying to read through the rough script I had and was against the clock. I'll make sure to get some shots on the instagram or when I actually play a game with them. As for this time of year, I can't complain. Check back in mid April. lol
A great sets of Spartan soldiers. A lot of work, but surely worth all the effort. Great job, James. Best wishes, Joachim PS: I've sent you a email. Hope you've got it, otherwise let me know and I'll try again.
Thank you very much. I haven't checked my email since I stormed out of my cubicle on Friday. Feck that place. lol. I'll do it when I schlepp myself back in tomorrow.
Fantastic collection of figures buddy
Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked them.
I just ordered one! Can,t wait for it to arive!arrive! Review! Thanks for sharing!
It's a great set and the new figures are really fantastic. I reckon you'll like it. Word to the wise though; the decals for the M8 are for a Sherman, so you'll have to use a bit of imagination with them.
Epic paint, brother!! Time to buy some O'Doul's for those future vid! ;)
Thanks very much. I gotta go out and get some decals for the Halloweiner Spooktacular. It's a bit of nostalgia I think you'll like.
@@jvcpaints Can't wait to see what you've come up with.
すごい ひゃくごじゅう にんです😵💫😵💫
ありがとう ダイバーさん。150名軍はこの国で珍しいですよ。
Nice work James
Thank you very much Lucian.
Awesome brush work, James.
Cheers, man. I hope all is well out there and it ain't too cold yet.
@@jvcpaints No complaints, Autumns my favorite season. Also, I love my woodstoves. Cheers.
They are wicked! Gerard Butler would be proud haha
Someone didn't gt to the end of the video...lol.
Hey nice presentation and stellar work. Playing with those figures was amazing…… being plastered by those miniatures was great!!! Ahahha Great work as usual.
I was loaded out of my mind making that video. You know my work struggles and how everything always seems to boil down to a 3 hour period over one afternoon and it all ends up being a steaming pile of BS no matter what happens. Ugh. Hopefully we can drink all of Steve's carb-free beer in November.
Dude this army is sick! I think you have done a great job leveraging the command stands and making the "generic" plastic commands into true unique heroes. The army looks very Spartan, which I think is a good thing for the war-games table. I think "hop-lites" sounds a little more natural in English, but "hop-li-tes" is probably closer to the ancient pronunciation. That being said, I feel like it would probably sound pretty different in Ancient Greek anyways lol. Anyways great work this is an inspirational project.
Thank you for the compliments. I appreciate them very much. Yeah, I had been watching so many documentaries while painting that the pronunciation thing started bothering me. lol. Like "Principes", with the hard "c", I started thinking I should change how I say Hoplites. I'm on to Repbulican Romans at the moment, but will probably get back to Hellas at some point.
Cooool they look epic man! Gold is naaice
Thank you very much. Give my regards to the SpeedPaint Wizard! I've been looking over Japanese auction sites for a cheap entry to do some LOTR stuff. Any 3D print recommends?
@jvcpaints I've got an anycubic photon mono4k that's done me well these years. Medbury minis also great to print 😀
@@jmaccsarmiesofArda Cheers. I've been rewatching the films (even the hobbit ones) and your enthusiasm is a bit infectious. but, I'm dead cheap. lol. It's a conundrum. haha.
@jvcpaints Yeh it's a big up front investment but I've saved hundreds with it
Oh wow you have excelled yourself mate - they are so lovely
Thanks, Dom! I hope you get to 5K soon!
Beautiful painting, basing...and shields, your Spartan army is amazing!!
Thanks, Phil. I appreciate it. looking forward to one of your cinematic battle reports. :)
Excellent presentation of your Spartan army, James. And Yes, I’d love to see a video from you on painting 🐎! 👍👍
Cheers, Mark. I'm going to try and get a few horse painting videos going now that my mojo has kind of returned. I have to get these two I have on my desk out of the way and then I'll start with some.
Fantastic work James. Great looking army.
Thank you very much, Paul.
That's 300 men. Great painting work.
Nobu san, arigatou gozaimashita. 28mm ga chisakutemo, paint wo suru koto ha tanoshii desu.
They look awesome James,my hobby mono seems to be like a yo-yo at the moment
Thanks for the kind words, Justin. I know the feeling, man. I'm all over the place in that department now too. I don't know if it's seasonal, age, diet, crap I watch on UA-cam or a combination of it. It took me 3 days to put 10 decals on some tanks....
Great work! Spartan conversion looks awesome.
Cheers, man. I'm a total Victrix convert now. lol. That said...the Republican Roman cavalry are an absolutely pain in the ass to get to sit on their horses flush. lol
what size is the skdfz/1. 1/35 I really like the model.
Thanks for checking out the video. All the vehicles are Tamiya 1/48 scale model kits. The Sdkfz are the Rommel ones with the radio antennae left off. They were difficult to get when I made this and finding them now "in the wild" at hobby shops is pretty rare.
A fucking painting machine! Well done, brother.
Took your title from last year. lol. I'm working on your Halloweiner buddy. haha
Wow! that is great progress man, especially in a busy month! They look GREAT!
Thank you. I hammered out the Romans really quickly and the new Warlord stuff paint up so well. I think it's the 2nd most productive month I've ever had.
Nice
Thanks Lucian!
Look great as always. I have about a hundred romans I’m thinking about painting up, they have been sitting around for awhile
Thanks, dude. Black primer on the romans, drybrush white for the chainmail and then a detail brush for picking out all the leather and buckles and stuff. Do the shields separate and don't worry about painting what the shields will cover. You'll have them done in no time. I think I was bashing out 6 a day and then prepping the next 6. It was super quick. Like 2 weeks total. Still need to base them. No that hockey is back on, Sundays have me for 6 hours in the morning just plowing through stuff. Wait til you see the Spartans, sheckler.
A good progress of a very successful work, James. Best wishes, Joachim
Cheers, Joachim!
84 minis painted is really good! Awesome work! Legio! Aeterna! Aeterna! Victrix! I love the Romans! Shame on you for gaming in the middle of the challenge. Ha ha! Who would do that!?! 😆 Thank you for joining the paint challenge! Next year we will do this again! Take Care.
Thanks for having it! I knew I was bending and contorting the rules, but it was all about the painting. I'll make sure to give you another shout out when I get the Romans all based and actually done done.
Outstanding work!
Thank you very much!
Do you think the American infantry could pass as paratroopers in winter coats? I’d want to try and make them look like easy company at Bastogne from band of brothers maybe. Thanks!
For sure they could pass as Easy Company. I think all you'd have to do is the spade on the side of the helmets without the helmet covers and you'd be golden! They don't have a lot of equipment like bayonets and spades, but heaps of weapon choices. Probably one of the best kits Warlord has done and super fast to paint too.
Fantastic progress, James! Well done!
Cheers, Josh. I got carried away with the Bolt Action stuff as soon as it arrived. I think I'm down to the last Fallschirmjagers now.
Great work my friend!
Thank you very much.
Fantastic work m8. Your snow ❄️ bases are awesome
Thanks very much! Loved those Thousand Sons of yours!
They look amazing buddy. I think your German Para’s look better than the way warlord painted theirs, maybe the blue shade they used? Anyway they all look ace. Romans look on point too.
Thanks, Anthony. Yeah, the Warlord FJ looked way too cartoony in that blue. The Victirx Romans were so fun and fast to paint. I can't recommend them enough.
Ver good work James.
Thank you Christoph. I really liked your GoT Fire and Ice guys. The black and yellow looked great.
Congrats! Great work on both time periods!
Thank you very much, Evil Stu. :)
Holy crap, dude. I don't think I could do that many in a year! Don't worry about the rules. I still think WFB 7th as new. lol.
WFB 7th ed. was the watershed moment of gaming for me. Them were the days!
They turned out great 👍
Thank you!
They look superb mate
Thanks, Justin!
The blue worked great for shading the white uniforms and I also liked the effect on the boots. Helmets with or w/out covers are excellent, and the ginger haired soldier was a brilliant touch. Very nicely done James. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks very much , Mark. You need a ginger guy in every army.
Great vid.
Cheers. Thanks for checking it out.
nice work🙂👍
Thanks very much. I appreciate it.
Nice tutorial my friend. Great video all round
Thanks, Steve. I appreciate it.
Brilliant work James, great tutorial
Thanks, Justin.
Fantastic tutorial, James! Thanks!
Thank you, Josh. I'm glad you liked it.
That is impressive brush work. Good details on those fallsh too. Waiting for my panzer 4 rubicon for over a month now. iT is soo good and soo rare that all are sold out.
Cheers, Lucian. I'm waiting for a book I bought on Amazon last month that was to be released on the 1st of this month and it is still missing. I know the feeling. How are you going to do up the PnzrIV?
Stunning paint job...and winter atmosphere, cracking job!!!👍👍
Thanks very much, Phil.
Amazing brush work and a great effort, these new figures are ultra amazing, the detail on the figures is warlords best work yet.
Thanks very much. I have to agree that the details on these figures is exceptional and Warlord is moving in the right direction with their sculpts. Comparing them to the original German Infantry they did for Bolt Action 1ed. is like comparing apples to oranges. Way better now.
Nice one.. Not heard about the FACTS of a ginger guy in your army, thats interesting. Is it only one or at least one ginger ?
Thanks very much. I make sure every army has at least one ginger guy in it, however I tend to sneak more in if I can. I'm sure I had a reason for doing it when I started doing it back when I was a kid, but now it's just habit. lol
Excellent job James! No homo ❤
nice
Thank you.
Very good tutorial James. Greetings Christoph
Thank you very much, Christoph.
