Graphics and verbal explanations very easy to comprehend. Lovely terrain and buildings. Excellent weapons and soldiers. So easy to see what's what. Thanks for the Bolt Action action! Wonderful!!!
Thanks Chris glad to you liked it and my wife does actually help out now and again with random orders and moving but solo is good for learning the rules and thinking about tactical quandaries
You’ve got a great collection of miniatures. Clearly time is an issue for you but a tutorial would be worth considering at some point. More importantly I think you’ve nailed the editing and narrative in your battle reports. There’s no wasted time or rambling. Clear and concise and the videos aren’t too long. A good product all round, looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks Dylan great to hear and I hope my tables, terrain and efforts give others similar ideas or inspiration, like I got from watching the likes of Tabletop CP, Bring and Battle and Kitchen Wargamers etc. 👍
Thank you Mad Maximus and I’m the same when listening to others videos when they start rambling, so I made a conscious effort to keep it short and simple.
Brilliant video, gorgeous terrain, love the hayfields. Really enjoyed it mate, well done, watched on the big screen to soak it all in. You’ve really nailed these battle reports, entertaining commentary, crisp photography, sound effects and clear rule application, cracking job. Can’t wait for more👏👏👍🏻
Wow thanks Chris, knowing you’ve been doing UA-cam videos much longer than I have your kind words are greatly received and I thought your Horsa looked mint. Next video early October and I’ve been working on some British Airborne myself and might try and use them? I’m looking to see if my club (Leeds Night Owls) will do a Bolt Action game at one of the Partizan’s next year as I know you attended this one in March. They put games on at all the Leeds/York/Newark venues. Some years ago me and some mates put on an Arnhem game at Leeds Fiasco in 1994 using our 20mm stuff and I’d love to try such a game again in future but in 28mm
Excellent terrain and miniatures, I must admit that I was searching for nice bolt action terrain videos, so the algorithm must agree with me! 😂 All together a very good effort, thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Looks excellent- already a big thumbs up from us for the quality of miniatures and your table! I look forward to watching this properly over the weekend! Regards, Dan
The quality of your terrain, painted miniatures, and the presentation of the battle report are outstanding. Well done, sir! Subscribed and I will enjoy viewing your other Bolt Action videos!
Nice one and thank you very much. Not done one for a few months now as had loads on but should be in a better position to start again after November all being well.
This was truly enjoyable. Thankyou for the effort in creating it. I would love a video covering your miniature painting. As well an overview of rules for Bolt Action. Truly a great video. Thanks!
Thank you Todd and I’ve done some painting pictures stuff on Facebook ‘painting bolt action’ pages but I’m crap at doing tutorial videos as I forget to record.
Not sure how I had never seen this video but you have a great collection. The table looks great as well. Hopefully we see more from you. Very concise but cinematic editing as well.
Thank you Se4Dr4gon for your kind words its greatly appreciated and as with the many others who have commented, gives me confidence to continue and try and improve all the time
Thank you it’s appreciated. I used to use door mats for hayfields but found them a bit stiff, then the idea of spraying teddy bear fur came to mind as I had a bit spare from doing medieval buildings.
Love your AAR's because your Minis and Terrain are looking awesome. The short and fast reviews of the actions are enjoyable and exciting. No childish small talk, no boring checking for rules. Keep on going, you're doing a great work!
I just discovered your channel and finish watching previous videos and all of them are awesome. I'm just starting with bolt action but really enjoy watching some good battle reports while painting.
These battle reports are amazing! Your scenery and models are great and the games always have great narrative and feel very cinematic. Keep up the aweseome work!
Very good battle report. With the occasional shot giving more overview it was much easier to keep track of what happened. And the beautiful terrain... nice work!
Thank you John its appreciated and i hope to get a better process going so I can do more videos in the future. Glad you like them and thanks for subscribing
Lovely models and exceptional terrain. I'm nine minutes in and there's a couple of corrections. For the prep bombardment you roll only for the transport.
Thank you Jusztin and thanks for pointing out the error. I just thought with them being open topped transports the passengers would also feel the effects of the bombardment etc.
@@dazvanderyoung1911 passengers take the same number of pins as the transport vehicle. So, yes. They do feel the effects of the bombardment. Technically, they are off the table. So for rules simplicity, they just take the same amount of pins.
Thank you and I use cut up rubber backed carpet tiles painted and flocked. If your on Facebook go on the Bolt Action Terrain makers page and search my name and it will bring up various posts I’ve put on about how I make things in more detail including the roads 👍
Cheers John it’s appreciated and I’m working on another big building at the moment but am planning to buy a few 3D pre printed ones in November to add an extra village or two.
The terrain, figures, and narration were all great. If you did some vids on terrain builds that would be good for those of use who aren't very good at crafting.
Thank you James and a few have asked for terrain vids and I’ll see if I can do one before the next battle report. Probably roads, hedges, cornfields and haystacks
Fantastic. My favourite bolt action bat reps! Watching them for the second time Are you planning on doing anymore? Would LOVE to see a tutorial on some of your terrain too (have you got any info in the carpet roads?) Thanks and hopefully see some more soon! 😊
Thank you very much Andy and I’m busy with quite a bit on at the moment but am looking to do another Bat Rep around the end of August all being well. I have on one of the videos done a little intro on some the terrain building techniques, only basic though. I will look (time permitting) to do a few video shorts on terrain including roads if I can in the next couple of weeks.
Great job with this video. I would only suggest that you slow down a bit, and explain how you calculated things in the tables for the newcomers who have not yet memorized it all.
Cheers Don and I am hoping to do another Bat Rep before Xmas and will try and slow down in my delivery and explain a bit more as I’m aware myself that I tend to talk quickly 😂
You. Skinned. A. Teddy??!! Great idea for the cornfields although I seem to have a picture of a crying child in my mind! Couple of things about HE - there was a FAQ that clarifies shots to buildings which of course I now cant find! Units get the being down/small team bonuses to hit so the spotter would be a lot harder to hit. Not sure what mark Sherman you're using but they have the HE 2" bonus on HE on 75mm guns.
Fantastic battle reports and fabulous scenarios. We'd love to see tutorials on how you build all the terrain and houses we see in your games. By the way, how do you get the cobblestone effect on the road? With a texturing roller?
Thank you Roberto and apologies for not replying sooner. The roads are cut up and painted office style carpet tiles. If you’re on Facebook go onto the Bolt Action terrain makers group and I did a ‘how to’ guide on there. Looking at doing a ‘how to’ video late October 👍
Tom I’m a member of the Night Owls and joined last July. My work shifts are crap but I’ve had games with Mick, Adam and Darren so far. Some of my stuff is on the FB page and I’m aiming to do a display game with the club possibly for next Fiasco but certainly for Recon. Also aiming for running some games from the garage in the summer with Mick and a couple of others and videoing for You Tube. Going to try and get to the club on the 15th Jan 👍🏻
@@dazvanderyoung1911 Ah thats good to hear that you're a member. Unfortunately I might be back to Scotland by the 15th but would certaintly love to grab a game sometime in the future and see those minis irl. Too pretty just for youtube haha!
I base mine for two reasons. First it protects them in transit boxes if they slide around. Secondly I base wheeled vehicles because it makes the whole thing stronger, particularly important for plastics. I base tracked vehicles for consistency with the wheeled vehicles.
Thanks Techsaint and as for basing I echo Sam’s comments however mine although based are not permanent, as they are only held in place with magnets so I can actually remove them for some games 👍 If your on FB go to the Bolt Action pages/groups and search for me there (Daz Van Der Young) and you’ll see some photos of how I base them with magnets for the best of both worlds.
Cheers Kameleon and it’s something I’ve been toying with but sadly work and family life have stopped me cracking on with quite a bit the last few months. Hoping to get another Bat Rep done before Xmas if nothing else 👍
Beautiful board/terrain! But I must say that panther wanted to die staying put after passing its order test with 2 pins and shooting instead of retreating to cover!
Graphics and verbal explanations very easy to comprehend. Lovely terrain and buildings. Excellent weapons and soldiers. So easy to see what's what. Thanks for the Bolt Action action! Wonderful!!!
Wow thank you its lovely to read that, very much appreciated.
It’s giving me some encouragement to solo game. No historical games around here. Please keep them coming.
Thanks Chris glad to you liked it and my wife does actually help out now and again with random orders and moving but solo is good for learning the rules and thinking about tactical quandaries
Sorry thanks Bob that should have read. (I’d just been typing a reply to Chris who runs The Great Mim YT channel

Beautiful terrain and models. Do you have any terrain making tutorials?
Thank you and as it goes I’m looking to do a how to video in late October all being well.
Really great video! beautiful miniatures and terrain. Where did you get the buildings from? they look amazing
Thank you Mercenary Miniatures and most of the buildings are scratch built using foam board, cardboard and plastic card etc.

What advantage for the Panther to remain static on the oipen road and not take partial cover behind the farmhouse ?
Sometimes when I’m playing and videoing my mind is more on video than tactics which suck at the best of times hahaha
