If Ohtani becomes better in pitching next year, he will win Cy Young. If Ohtani becomes better in batting next year, he will win Hank Aaron. And of course, Ohtani will be MVP. That's gonna be the most historic performance for sure.
Shohei Ohtani deserves all the attention he's getting, he's doing something no baseball player has ever done, forget Babe Ruth, he only played in an all Whites only league never faced the best Black players of his era, only pitched 1 year, wasn't anywhere near Ohtani's physical abilities. Once in a lifetime athlete is right, but American media loves building people up just to tear them down, we'll get non stop overload of Ohtani until people get sick of it then any little wrong thing he does will be amplified all in the name of clicks and views. Many biased fans act like Ohtani is a good pitcher and an average hitter, and is overhyped because he is a two-way player doing something haven't been done in 100+ years only because no one has been even attempting. But the truth is that he is elite in both. Besides a combined WAR of 9.5, below are his stats this season: Batting (AL) 4th in HR 8th in Run 7th in RBI 7th in walks 5th in SLG 5th in OPS 5th in Total Bases *He also had an 18-game hitting streak that was the 3rd longest this year in AL. Pitching (AL) 4th in ERA 4th in Wins 3rd in Ks 1st in K/9 In short, he is a top 5 hitter in AL, with a higher SLG, OPS, and HR total than Jose Ramirez or Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and at the same time, he is also a top 5 pitcher in AL, with a lower ERA than Shane McClanahan, Gerrit Cole, or Robbie Ray. As some have mentioned, if you swap him and Judge, Ohtani would be the best pitcher AND the best hitter for the Yankees team. Think about how incredible and valuable he really is. Surely, he probably won't win the MVP this season, as Judge also had a heck of a season. However, claiming that Ohtani is average in hitting this season just how you are totally biased and clueless.
Ohtani dominated Astros. Astros dominated Judge. “Breaking 104 year old record which even PED players could not break” is more impressive than “breaking 40 year old record if not counting PED athletes’ record”
How? He's the face of the majors right now, and he won MVP? They've been comparing him to Babe Ruth - arguably the most iconic name in baseball history - for the past 3 years. The issue is that most of America doesn't watch baseball, and only cares about NBA or Football.

Did he say 'probably won't' ? When talking about Sho's MVP chances? If Judge gets MVP it's not based on merit. Sure Judge has had a great season (and seems like a class act), but Sho's season is demonstrably better, it's not even close.
If Judge wins MVP, this will be one of the greatest voting mistake ever. “WAR” is playing in Judge’s favor simply the fact that it never anticipated someone could be so good on both batting and pitching.

Judge is amazing and yes he will win MVP but he is not as valuable as Ohtani. People take two way for granted but name one player that can be a cy candidate and top 5 hitter at the same time. In 5 to 10 years, people will realize how special Ohtani was this season but now we can all live the moment of 62HR.
If Judge wins it he and MLB will be ridiculed in the future for decades by rational people who look back and realize how ridiculously good Ohtani was this season.
Plot of most "analysts" : "Yeah Ohtani is GREAT, he is the UNICORN, he did things we have never seen in like "EVER", he is making history, he is yadee yadaa. But he doesn't deserve the MVP because other 20+ teammates suck (except Mike Trout, of course) so the team could not reach playoff."
As much as everyone loves him now, I don't think he will be truly appreciated until we have some historical context and we see more people try to do what he did and fail. We'll probably consider Ohtani the GOAT of baseball in 50 years.
I don't know if it's MVP or what, but if you like HR, HR, HR so much, you should quit baseball and play HR If you like HR so much, you should quit baseball and play HR derby every month. You should get in shape and train for the monthly tournament and compete for batting average and distance. I think that would be fun. Why do you think baseball is played every day? Because it is a comprehensive sport that involves hitting, baserunning, defense, and pitching, and the physical burden on the individual is lower than in soccer, for example. I think we've reached a point where we can't properly evaluate Shohei without rethinking baseball from scratch. If that's nasty, lazy, conservative people don't like him, then that's troublesome.
Say what you want. Breaking the HR record and being 1st on most of the hitting stats, yes, it is GREAT. Judge had a remarkable season. But Is this the FIRST time we have ever seen people like that? No. There had been a lot of great hitters in our days. Now Ohtani. Has there anyone like him before? ABSOLUTELY NOT. And people treat him like we've seen him before. "Ah average at both, not worth. Focus on one thing." Are you out of your mind? All these people saying he is not that great, clearly have never played a baseball and don't know what it takes to be an elite player on both side.
Not only is Othani a great player. Perhaps the most unique two way player we have seen in baseball since Babe Ruth. He is a great person to. I met him at the All Star game in July during on field workouts. I didn't get his autograph but I took a pic with him and he was just nice. Great guy.
Only major U.S. sport where playing both offense and defense isn't a two way player even though they all do both in MLB. See this all the time in young leagues. Hand him MVP Award every year rest of his career. Tune in for World Series! Then we'll have something we don't know outcome of and tune into.
This was the kind of player Rick Ankiel was supposed to be before he got the yips, and couldn't find the plate. Then, he got talked into becoming an outfielder to focus just on his bat, but you have to wonder if he never gets the yips how good he would have been as a pitcher/hitter.
Too little too late. Ohtani was the 1st player in history to qualify as batter and pitcher yesterday and MLB didn't deem this worthy of a highlight....what the actual f-ck.
Shohei should win back to back MVPs but Aaron Judge will win it deservingly! Next season if Judge doesn't break his own HR record and Shohei does the same he did this year, he will win MVP for sure.
I want you analysts to note a change in his pitching mechanics and I don't know why he does it. As part of his windup, when he lifts his left knee high, he's nearly un hittable. When he doesn't he looks fatigued and appears to be trying to steer the ball.
If there is a football playing both ways at a pro bowl level Or a all star hockey player playing both goalie and center etc etc I'm going to eat that up and watch I'm watching Ohtani not only so I can tell the grandkids what I saw But because I don't believe he will last long doing it sooner or later he will break down Where are you most likely to get hurt? On the mound and at the plate In a MLB where they are now cracking down on pitchers and foreign substances. I expect 60 homeruns to be a common occurrence I don't expect another Ohtani Why would anyone take a paycut, risk injury and not be recognized for it
Ohtani is doing the work of two pitchers and two hitters in the All-Star Game all by himself. Judge is, at most, one and a half. If he is great as a hitter, then Major League Baseball is at fault, not making awards for hitters. The MVP, as the name implies, is an award for the most outstanding player, not for Hank Aaron. Ohtani gets the Cy Young and the MVP, and Judge gets the newly created award for hitters. This is the correct reality.
Baseball is so screwed up, if the Angels had a better record and was going into the playoffs. There would be no doubt he is the MVP of the season, but we look at HRs / Batting Average + wins into the post season and not what ShoTime is doing, changing the game as a two way SKILLED player. Unicorn indeed🦄 … props to Judge & the Yankees , but they need to share this award
And the MLB campaign to secure the MVP for Ohtani moves to the off season. Good job MLB. Good job voters! Only if you had a hit piece on Judge, right? And for the fact tht ppl romanticize the home run and a lot of ppl will consider this the true single season home run record.
What shohei has done is incredible. Honestly they should both be co mvps IMO.
Judge has a higher WPA
@@Flowerz__ The biggest reason the will pick Judge is because he is American. The NA bias is strong in all prof. sports. NHL, NBA, MLB.

Ohtani = OOP(Only One Player)

彼は、他の選手の追随を許さない、いわば唯一無二の選手です。
Stats determines loser or winner; character determines inferior or superior. Ohtani’s benevolence, humility, and positivity are truly what make him the greatest of all time.
Ohtani and Judge are both humble players
This year there needs to be co AL mvps
@@charlescowden3843 FACTS AND TRUE. MLB should start have a consensus meeting with all voters coz it will be a embarrassing travesty if they don't even consider Shotime😀
He is gay... that's why he will not get equal pay.
The two analysts are both right, Ohtani is a player unlike any other. Yet the same Tom Verducci has been promoting Aaron Judge for MVP largely because he is surpassing the HR record in the AL. Stanton hit 59 in 2017. So is that HR accomplishment really that spectacular compared with the two-way excellence and MLB uniqueness of Ohtani?
It would be funny if later down the road Ohtani broke judges record this season. That'll be a heck of a storyline 😎
No but the baseball world isn't quite prepared for Shohei. He challenges people to think differently and the baseball world (e.g. "Moneyball") lives in nostalgia a lot of the time.
judge season in which he led the al in 10 offensive categories was much more dominate then stanton 59 home run season and it was not even close
Maybe because Judge has been better? The home run stat isn't and shouldn't be the determining factor, but Judge has other stats to back up his case
@@derekwang7330 If you read my original post, I made clear that I was criticizing the emphasis on HRs as well as pushing for the Ohtani two-way excellence that Judge can't compete with. Judge didn't win the triple crown, and too much obsession is on HRs. I like him and respect what he did, but I think Ohtani remains the supreme MLB talent and MVP.
When you love the game like shohei you can be anything you want
It'll be crazy... if 2021: strong batting, 2022: strong pitching, 2023: stronger both sides. 🤔
Ohtani talk if he is not satisfied with his 2022 season. So we can assume if 2023 is another record is comin
Ohtani is already strong on both sides. What you really mean is he will be at the top on both sides, and he will most likely be there next season.
@@Openwrt2023 He’s already top 5 pitcher and hitter right? Him being top 1-2 pitcher and hitter would make him a baseball god

Also catches ⚾️ bullets flying straight down the middle off the mound with quick reaction. I'm just waiting for him to take it to the next level and watch his hair turn blonde and spikey 😄 🤣
If they not going to give any award to this best baseball player just because he is not the best pitcher or the best hitter, it will be a shame in baseball history.
That's how the game is played.
MLB needs awards for 2 way players.
Ohtani is the real MVP for the entire MBL.
Comissioner's Award
Aaron judge is a walking leg 🦵 tripping an running 🏃♂️ around the bases. Shohei ohtani is a talented a triple H double ⚔️ 🐠 who can bat, pitch, an hit home runs.end of story love Shohei!! Good luck next year aaron judge!!
Many biased fans act like Ohtani is a good pitcher and an average hitter, and is overhyped because he is a two-way player doing something haven't been done in 100+ years only because no one has been even attempting.
But the truth is that he is elite in both. Besides a combined WAR of 9.5, below are his stats this season:
Batting (AL)
4th in HR
8th in Run
7th in RBI
7th in walks
5th in SLG
5th in OPS
5th in Total Bases
*He also had an 18-game hitting streak that was the 3rd longest this year in AL.
Pitching (AL)
4th in ERA
4th in Wins
3rd in Ks
1st in K/9
In short, he is a top 5 hitter in AL, with a higher SLG, OPS, and HR total than Jose Ramirez or Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and at the same time, he is also a top 5 pitcher in AL, with a lower ERA than Shane McClanahan, Gerrit Cole, or Robbie Ray.
People who claim Ohtani is an average hitter and pitcher are clueless. He is an elite pitcher and near elite hitter
Judge is MVP of Yankees, Ohtani is MVP of MLB
best presentation by MLB so far for Shotime. all they had to say unanimously together was that he is their 2022 AL MVP😀
NO CAP. i cant see this guy not being MVP. NO CAP
Ohtani for President!
アメリカの野球番組はほんと楽しそうだなぁ~。解説もすごく丁寧だ。
If he doesn’t win MVP this season, are there any awards he will win?
Comissioner's Award perhaps?
we need two way award at some point
you would need to trade 2 arron judges to get 1 shohei ohtani. he's the REAL mvp BY FAR. he's easily the best player to ever play ALREADY
By far? You're following baseball?
Love Ohtani shohei
Ohtani dominated Astros.
Astros dominated Judge.
“Breaking 104 year old record which even PED players could not break” is more impressive than “breaking 40 year old record if not counting PED athletes’ record”
love Ohtani
Absurd. This dude should be talked about like LeBron or Brady. Mlb has dropped the ball on this monster
How? He's the face of the majors right now, and he won MVP? They've been comparing him to Babe Ruth - arguably the most iconic name in baseball history - for the past 3 years.
The issue is that most of America doesn't watch baseball, and only cares about NBA or Football.
Don’t just talk about it then! Give Ohtani the MVP then..‼️talk…talk…
The media people are so enamored with HR. It’sso macho….flashy…we have had HR kings before.
Trout is a HR King this year too..he only played 120 games and have 40. If he played full he may be blasting 60+ too!! BUT JUDGE IS THE HR KING - THIS YEAR!! 2022. Thats it!
Heard some “analysts” say Judge is better baseball player than Trout⁉️
These Yankee people really know how to add on things not existing…
And you are so fixated on the home run stat that you don't even know that he is the leader in 11 of 12 batting categories by far
@@derekwang7330 Shohei creates new categories in MLB. Not existing ones. There are stats for hitting and pitching but not for combined. Its like all speak either german or french. While Ohtani speaks both.

Judge is +28HRs, +36RBI, +43runs, +17hits more than Ohtani....but....15-9, 2.35era, 219Ks > 28hr, 36rbi, 43runs, 17hits......IMO Showtime MVP!

MLB is all about American and white players. American want white players to win it fist before non white or American
Try overhyping Ohtani and realise you’re not doing that enough. This young man is that good.

Sports don't understand the meaning of MVP anymore.
As much as everyone loves him now, I don't think he will be truly appreciated until we have some historical context and we see more people try to do what he did and fail. We'll probably consider Ohtani the GOAT of baseball in 50 years.

2 of the best players in MLB and Angels can't manage a winning record. I feel bad for Angels fans.
I cannot imagine even trying to throw that many sliders in one outing. Sheesh!
Sheesh. Ohtani is nuts
Great guy.
I'm jealous!
Only major U.S. sport where playing both offense and defense isn't a two way player even though they all do both in MLB. See this all the time in young leagues. Hand him MVP Award every year rest of his career. Tune in for World Series! Then we'll have something we don't know outcome of and tune into.
Crazy no one talking bout Ohtani like they do with Michael Jordan
This was the kind of player Rick Ankiel was supposed to be before he got the yips, and couldn't find the plate. Then, he got talked into becoming an outfielder to focus just on his bat, but you have to wonder if he never gets the yips how good he would have been as a pitcher/hitter.
Too little too late. Ohtani was the 1st player in history to qualify as batter and pitcher yesterday and MLB didn't deem this worthy of a highlight....what the actual f-ck.
I wonder if he'd be open to going to Seattle. If the Mariners have room for him of course.
Hell nah he is not going there no way jose
Shohei should win back to back MVPs but Aaron Judge will win it deservingly! Next season if Judge doesn't break his own HR record and Shohei does the same he did this year, he will win MVP for sure.
I think the only way he shouldn't be MVP is if his pitching numbers were worse than last year but they're somehow even better...
I want you analysts to note a change in his pitching mechanics and I don't know why he does it. As part of his windup, when he lifts his left knee high, he's nearly un hittable. When he doesn't he looks fatigued and appears to be trying to steer the ball.
If there is a football playing both ways at a pro bowl level
Or a all star hockey player playing both goalie and center etc etc
I'm going to eat that up and watch
I'm watching Ohtani not only so I can tell the grandkids what I saw
But because I don't believe he will last long doing it sooner or later he will break down
Where are you most likely to get hurt? On the mound and at the plate
In a MLB where they are now cracking down on pitchers and foreign substances. I expect 60 homeruns to be a common occurrence
I don't expect another Ohtani
Why would anyone take a paycut, risk injury and not be recognized for it
Shohei Ohtani equal Proud of Japan
Because the betting odds are -15000 in Judge's favor
They don't think Ohtani is MVP because they know how biased the American MVP voters are.
And the MLB campaign to secure the MVP for Ohtani moves to the off season. Good job MLB. Good job voters! Only if you had a hit piece on Judge, right?
