Sponsored by Sophie and Toffee. All videos are filmed and edited by The Potter Collector. All opinions are my own.
The wax seal we made is actually the seal for MACUSA, not the Order of the Phoenix.
Sometimes I forget that Fantastic Beasts is part of the Wizarding World.
May I ask, please, Kenneth, what kind of overhead rig you use to film your craftmaking? Puh-leeeeeze? 8^)
Great video as always, Sir. I just wanted to check to see you received the bamboo wand I sent your PO Box. Thank you as always all you do for the Potter Collector community.
Cross stitch tip: The "thread" you were given is most likely made of six individual threads. Thinning your thread helps the holes not feel as tight so you have room to make the "x". Normally I only do two threads but for acrylic you might try 3 threads if 2 feel thin. If the skein is long, cut a segment before separating or you will end up with a tangled mess. The backsides of cross stitches always are messy but you can glue felt or fabric to have a finished backing. Loving these craft videos!
For the cross stich you want to think of it as a square with holes in each corner. Start at one corner poking through from the back, and cross over to the opposite corner, do an entire row of these diagonal stitches then come back and go the opposite direction to make an X across the "square". Also tie a knot in the end of the thread before you start. Hope that makes sense :)
P is for Paper, helping us all to put the *cross* in cross stitch! lolol
Thank you, that's genuinely super helpful! I'm helpless at the counted stitch crafts -- knitting, crossstitch, etc. I believe they require a mathematic brain that I just don't have!
#P is for Paper. I also appreciate the tips.
Yeah I’ve done cross stitch work before and done in a cross like an X in rows you wouldn’t see the resin mould as much but great first effort Peter
Cross stitch is my hobby, I love it so much! I didn't know you could do templates with resin, it's amazing! 😍 And I would love to explain how to cross stitch to anyone who wants to learn! 😁 But basically you aim to do an X for each point in the pattern 😉
This! And if you're doing it well there's no need to hide anything on the other side besides the thread ends. Also, you can use less embroidery floss by separating the threads. This is a neat box, thanks for sharing! I think you did great as a first timer without instructions. Diagonally! 😅
I really appreciate your honesty with your skill level and helping your viewers understand that these skills and crafts can be grown and enjoyed no matter if you’re a beginner or expert. So many people would have edited out any little mishaps or quirky bits and I love that you didn’t 💙
Hi Peter.
With cross-stitching, don't "travel" to far between holes, with your thread.....like where you went from the body of the sweater, across to the arm.
Either finish off the thread, by going behind a few stitches. Or, carry the thread, by slipping it behind a few stitchs. But, be careful not to pull your threads too tight. You want to have slightly "puffy" or full stitchs (also, without them being too lose, where the stitch could get snagged).
To keep the back from becoming too messy (and your back threads showing through to the front), to a minimum, work all crosses required, in a row. Then, go onto the next row. Thus, working across your piece, one row at a time.
If you are able to work with a number of threads hanging of your piece at any given time, you can do all colors in one row, then the next row, and etc.
It may be more convenient to work with one color, at a time, if you are a newby.
Hope this info helps you out, a little bit.
Thanx for sharing this new kit with use. 🙂
Love the new background Peter😁❤️
The wax seal and stamp turned out really well. This kit looks like a great gift for home activities.
The plants behind you look so pretty, especially the little magical friends hidden within, it’s fun to watch these little crafting type videos, like the puzzle and diamond art as well
For cross stitch you normally make an X. So you start at the bottom of the X then from the back go up a row and make an /. then you do a row and come back making the \ to make an X if that makes sense.
Cross stitch-you don't knot the back. You leave a small tail and sew over to keep it from moving. You also usually only use 2 of the 6 strands that make up the thread. That makes the stitches more delicate and easier to make that "x" pattern that is cross stitch. Hope this helps!
Tip: when you want firm something up so you can do a second layer or do not want one color to run into another, you can do a flash cure with the light for a few seconds. If you are going to continue with the resin crafts I suggest you get one of the small UV flashlights, they are good for quick cures.
Definitely a big A for effort on the cross stitching but you stitch a slant in one direction them come back over it in the other direction to make a xxxxxxx. If you hold about an inch of thread at the back when you start then you hold that flat across the back in the direction you will stitch and at each loop of the thread it gets secured at the back. To end you see it through the loops at the back of the row you've just completed. I've loved watching this new craft. Good luck Peter
It’s something different and unique… falling in love 🥰 with it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Agreed!
@@ThePotterCollector 👍👍👍👍
I am surprised Sophie and Toffee didn't include cross stitch instructions. I usually love their stuff but I am an experienced crafter and sometimes I forget what it's like to be a beginner. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Resin crafts are so beatiful love your channel and the fact that dobby is chillin in a backround🥰
I love how creative you got with the resin!! This morning I was hoping a new potter collector video was gonna come out and you put one out! So thanks!! Great video!!🔥
Since we are used to watch Peter in the library it feels weird to see some place else. But it was a great video. Especially seeing Dobby in the background the whole time!
I've been waiting since the first
Resin pack came. Thanks a lot peter to bring this to us
You did well!! Try using black felt cut into the shape of the sweater, then use good glue and glue it to the back to cover the threads. It will be fabulous!!!
This is so much fun, thank you for these videos. Its so interesting seeing people try new things and a great inspiration
This was such a fun video!! Harry Potter meets crafting! 😄
If you dont want fumes while resin cures too fast...start your lamp higher from the mold ..it helps for less shrinkage too
Im glad you wear gloves this time!😻
What a wonderful idea for Christmas ornaments!!
This is just so magical and the aesthetic is PERFECT! I've been looking for some new crafts to do with my nieces and nephews so this is absolutely incredible! Thanks for sharing Peter! 💚
I'm loving the Sophie and Toffy crafts. I love all of your videos!
Don’t stress about the cross stitch - that looked super hard and fiddly. Cute things to make.
I've never commented like this, but I just really want to say thank you! In early 2020 you've introduced me to the Potterverse and the Wizarding world from the Bloomsbury Books Video, (and that's what bought!), You made me buy the wands and merchandise! And lastly and Importantly in these trying times, You've managed to make a smile on my face by you replying! Thanks Once more to the Greatest Potter collector!
So pretty and sparkly! I love it!
I think you did a great job on your first cross stitch. You are right if it was not clear the stitches probably would not show as much. But like you said....practice! Love your sun room too.
Love this video 🥰😍 you are extremely crafty , and dedicated, I wish I had more of your confidence 🥰 with cross stitching you were right , more detail instructions 100 % needed and when you do it you need to do a criss cross × movement like that with needle, I used to do it it's not as easy as it looks so well done for trying and doing you best 🥰 Cant wait to more of your videos , would be cool to see you do potion DIY or something like that 😍
Such fun. A great thing to do when you feel creative. Thanks for sharing, Peter.
Who would laugh at you?? It looks like you did a FANTASTIC job on the cross-stitch! :o I'm blown away by this whole kit. You also made that charm look so gorgeous - really nice work!
I love your videos. I have never been to Universal so I love watching your videos it makes me feel like I have been there.
I stay away from your videos because they'll make me jealous!!! I love this...and all the few seconds I see. Your shelf of books gives me lightning bolt heart eyes and all the jealousy! The money you have invested in your collection is gotta be insane!! Thanks for the videos! I will have to live my Potterhead obsession more through you than adding much else to my small measly collection. :(
For a first time cross stitching I think you did very well! Especially with no one there to help you out. The backsides are usually quite messy (the more color changes the messier too) so your thoughts on using a darker resin would probably be a good idea for another attempt! Keep up the great work!
Looks like you had fun 😃 great video it's nice to see you do something different and fun xx
Thank you Peter! You always make my day better.. been down all day until I saw your new post...
I love the wax seal and the charm sweater! Great job I craft a lot and have been wanting to work with resin. I love Harry Potter, so this is so Awesome, definitely gonna have to get these boxes. Thank you, Peter and great job!
U did this pretty well and this seems fun for people who like crafting
Im new in the community of collectors but im loving it here!
I found your channel a few days ago and I am hooked. I've been binge watching all of your videos and they are extremely entertaining. Thank you for all of the awesome content!!!
This is an amazing kit and idea to do in the future!!! Things like this are always fun to see and hope that one day I can do all these things with my fellow magical friends
My favorite harry potter youtube channel
Love when I am able to like a video before watching it completely.
Hi Peter when you are doing your next cross stitch for the bookmark do crosses instead of just lines it will fill the resin up better and hide the thread behind so that you can not see them. Hope this helps you out xx
Uh-oh, another crafting project. I'm still at the diamond painting right now. Haha! That's a good-looking charm you made. Definitely have to check out this reco. Thank you for another fun video!
How clever! This is such a nice craft - the sweater is so detailed! Good job on the cross stitch - I don't think mine would be so clear
I love Dobby in the back round
The wax seals are sooooo cool! I also have no idea how to cross stitch and thought you did a good job.
I can’t wait to try one myself Thank you for another great video! It always puts me in a great mood to wake up and see a new video from you 😁 I love how you always find the best pieces, like Dobby from Blockbuster last week, you have inspired me finally start my own collection. Thanks again for another great video Peter! 😊😊 also you are so good at the resin molds! They look all beautiful, I’m a crafter so I will be purchasing
I am glad that you enjoy the videos, Amber! You'll love these craft boxes!
@@ThePotterCollector Omg thank you for the response! I can’t wait to get one myself, I love Harry Potter and crafting so this is right up my Diagon Alley
Hey! This is a great idea that they’ve made. I work with resin almost all the time and my daughter and I are huge Harry Potter fans, too.
I have to say that as you were adding the resin to the wax seal handle, I was concerned that you didn’t pour any UNDER the magnet so that it would connect to the already poured and dried handle. (Plus, sanding it a tad bit would help it adhere, as well.) And Yes, resin takes some time to get used to and good at. It’s super fun once you get the hang of it. 😃
Those cross-stitch mold are super cleverly designed! Thanks for posting these kits. I’ll be getting my daughter some soon! Thanks for the codes!!!
I'd love to purchase it once I'm able too. Looks a lot of fun and it's really cool that your doing stuff your not used too. Was fun watching.
Love watching your videos! Thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks for being here, Glenda!
That was so awesome, you did a great job.
Great crafting Peter with the kits ,amazing, dobby looks at home
Cross stitching is my absolute favorite hobby
Whenever I did cross stitch, I divided the thread and used 2 strands and did a criss cross pattern. UA-cam it...but, for your first attempt, I think you did awesome!
i swear i saw dobby move...he blinked..watch him closely
Beautifully made
I think it looks amazing!
Dobby scared me 😭 I wasn't expecting him to be there lol
Aww Dobby is not scary. Dobby only wishes to craft too! :)
The resin items to make is very interesting. I’m not a fan of cross stitching or anything in regards to knitting or sewing. Kudos on your first attempt. I’m sure mine would be worse 😵. I would prefer boxes that didn’t have that in them. It will be nice if they offer other stamps to make so people can use like the houses and other HP themed things. It’s a pretty cool idea for sure.
You did an awsome job your friend phil. I am goning to see dumbledor. Movie thursday night i am excited cant wait you did awsome
Ooh different studio, nice!!
I love this! Gonna go check out their website
Lol I love it this is so cool thanks peter I really like the way you did your crossstitch thanks buddy
Cross-stitching should make an X in every pattern, but it's good you're learning new things to do! A for effort!
Man I wish I had the funds for this box and the bookend mold😍😍
Love the reusable box
The box is amazing!!! It ships to australia 🎉🎉
This was awesome and you are awesome ❣️❤️❣️❤️❣️
I just love this.❤
Hi Peter! Awesome video today!
Sooo satisfying... 😊
I had to ask them about that seal. Sophie and toffee replied quickly and said it was navigation star (compass rose?) on the mauraders map.
Oo this looks really good! I was wondering if you could do more Resin :D
This definitely looks like a potion class🤩
Just looked them up! Box itself (not subscription) is $111 USD but I guess subscription is $63 for quarterly subscription, which sounds like the better deal really!
With all your excess resin colors, put it in another mold and cure it at the end so the colors will mix together a bit.uv resin is so expensive ..i dont waste a bit.i got myself a jellybeans mold..one drop of resin fills them so i made a bunch of all colors!
Super fun!
i love resin crafts!!!
Peter, you did good!!..
ive always wanted to buy a Sophie and toffee harry potter resin box but I had always been late and got there when it sold out😭😭😭
!!!!!!WHEN WORKING WITH RESIN!!!!!
Please please wear gloves, a ventilated room to work because the fumes are strong and are bad to inhale, if you have proper mask even better. If you are new to resin, eye protection is also something I would recommend, if you happen to get the resin in your skin/eye immediately rinse. Don't clean the resin remains in the sink, its not safe to do so.If you work with UV, uv resin does shrink a bit so keep that in mind.
You did a great job with your resin. ❤️ There are UA-cam videos on how to do cross stitch. 😉
Thank you for sharing your crafting, that was a good try at cross stitching as a cross stitcher myself cross stitching is very easy all it is, is all making X’s once you get the hang of it it’s really mindless like I said very good try I hope to see more of your creations. Thank you again
I love how stressed you were because of the sun. UV Rays don’t go through glass. So if your windows are shut no uv will get through :)
Awesome video!
Well, crossstich actually says what pattern of stiches you need: a cross. So you go diagonally stiches in one direction and then back in the other, so you get little crosses :) and I realise that this probably doesn't make any sense xD anyway, still looks great :)
Third one yesssss❤❤❤
Most cross-stitch has thread cover the entire piece which covers those threads on the back.
Hi im from philipines i alway watch your videos
I always just stamp the wax quickly but then I use metal seals.

Me: *INTENSE POTTER COLLECTOR HAPPY SCREAMING*
I have a question about collecting: My Patronus is a weasel. I can find all kinds of otter things, but am coming up short on weasel items. I've even looked for non-HP weasel things (gasp). Any suggestions? Thanks!
As someone who does cross stitch (actually working on a Harry Potter project right now) I do give you an A for effort. But I think you need to look for an online tutorial next time before attempting again. And yes you probably should have done the resin not clear.
Can someone in the comments (Or Peter himself) tell me what to do? I just got my Slytherin robe in today and the arms and the robe itself are too long. Could it be fixed at home?
I love crafts
Woooo! Fans from singapore!
I love your videos!
Thanks Emma!
