We have always been huge supporters of artists learning to benchmark their colors- it's the best way to objectively learn which ones deliver the best value! Great job!
Awesome - I'm glad you love them. I want to paint with them SO MUCH MORE! They are delightful. Good luck in World Watercolor Month - it should be a fun one!
I just finished rewatching your watercolor palette collection video, so I was more than excited when I saw you uploaded a new long video 🥰 the sharpie line fading sure makes the white pop 😂 I'm so surprised by rosa gallery and white night watercolors! Especially for their great prices. And I love your painting at the end 🥰 so vibrant and beautifully painted.
Hello Miranda, i love watching your swatches from the window to see how they fared next to their counterparts. You painted that flower so beautifully. And the dogs are funny and cute.
Yes, I need to go back through all my videos and make a lightfast spreadsheet so I can look at each supply quickly and easily. It's on the long-term to-do list!
Yeah like most people, I use journals / sketchbooks, so lightfastness is irrelevant. I'm not going to stick them open in a window facing the sun. No light when I close the book ... paint should last for several generations. Like cave drawing paint. Now, if I'm doing something that will be hung on a wall in sun lit rooms, a monument in the desert, or maybe a post card ... different story. It's good to know what is what.
Hi Miranda! So neat to see your 13.5 month lightfast test results! Those White Nights and Holbein acrylic gouache colors really held up. OOOh that Paul Reubens glitter paper! I adore the flower you created for the challenge. I have placed your video in the Flower Power Art Challenge Official Playlist. I am so glad you are part of my art family. Big hugs to you Miranda!
How do you like the craftamo brushes? Are they worth the money? There seems to have been real quality issues when the company first got started. And $60 seems like a lot of money for a set that includes a loose ferrel and stray hair.
I love the Sarah Burns gouache brushes, and I do feel they are worth the $60, but the Lindsay Weirich brushes do have some quality-control issues, so I would wait on those. They are an EXCELLENT selection of brush types and sizes, and only two of the 6 have issues, but I would still make sure the issues have been taken care of before purchasing them.
Always great to see how all of the products have fared in the sun. Ohhh the Marabu crayons! 😱 I’m glad Rosa Gallery paints are good, seeing as I just bought a set of them. 😂 What a lovely flower! I want to find that reference photo now…it has such happy colours. 😊
Those Derwent aqua pencils look really interesting!! Too bad they aren't available anymore. Your flower turned out really beautiful!! Tomorrow is the first!! You'll get to start opening your calendar! Have you managed to resist after the first??
Yes, the Aquatones are really interesting. I have resisted! But it's been easier because I've been busy enough and had so many unexpected things come up that I was distracted - whew! But not it's JULY and I get to start opening new envelopes tomorrow! Yea! I still want to tear into all of them, but the daily prompts should keep me busy enough for now. :-D
Thank you for this lightfast tests, Miranda. Great to know about Caran d'ache NeoColor II. But disappointing to know about the Dr. Ph Martin. But good to know. Thank you very much. And I love your painting ❤
I’m glad to see that the Rosa Gallery paints held up so well. Thank you for doing these tests and sharing the results with us. The flower you painted is gorgeous 😮 Since I can’t have it, I’m going to have to try painting it myself, but I know it won’t be nearly as stunning as yours.
You are treasure with these lightfast tests! Kinda sad about the liquitex and the aquafine inks, but they could have been worse. Your flower at the end is lovely! The green and cyan in the petals really made them pop nicely. I'm going to try for world watercolor month again, got C last year, so I only finished half before I was too sick paint. *crosses fingers*
I forgot to comment but I had clicked this one so fast! I love seeing your lightfast tests and I really love how your flower came out. I love the glitter paper too. Maybe this year, I'll actually use it for those xmas cards (I even bought the red envelopes to fit the paper folded!)
I love the hints of blue and green in the petals of your pretty flower power painting. I've been wondering how the Neocolor II's would fare in a lightfast test. Thanks for doing all the hard work for us. Several youtube artists seem to highly regard Rosa Gallery paints.
Very informative! Have you ever try black Inktense (preferably block or pan) instead of sharpie for opacity value? the black Inktense is 8 on BW scale and don't repel water as much as some markers/ pens and stay permanent.
I'm glad the Rosa gallery paints are so lightfast as they are beautiful and cheap and we help Ukrainian people making a living by buying them. Great painting, so lifelike and sweet. My flowers look a bit like extraterrestrial creatures, I'm afraid. Have a brilliant weekend, Miranda.
Thanks, Miranda! I love FC Gelatos! When I got back into doing my own fine art, after a very long hiatus, I had been using Gelatos for fun and with paper-crafting and fell in love with them. I then did a couple of small abstract pieces on art boards and they turned out great (they’re fantastic on art boards.) Unfortunately, though, bc of their lack of LF ratings, I knew I couldn’t sell any originals I created. I truly wish FC would make an artist grade Gelato. I think their gel formula, at least how they perform on paper and art boards, is much better than Maribu. Oh well…maybe I should write FC and beg. That surely would convince them. 😂

Thank you, I appreciate the comment.
It's really satisfying to see the results of this year-long project. What a gift to the art community. Beautiful painting, too.🤩 Thank you!
Thank you.
I just bought some rosa gallery pans after i watched one of your videos and i absolutely love them
And yes I'm doing world watercolour month 😊 I just completed the June doodlewash challenges too
Awesome - I'm glad you love them. I want to paint with them SO MUCH MORE! They are delightful. Good luck in World Watercolor Month - it should be a fun one!
I’m surprised how well neocolor 2 holds, yes purple faded but it’s not as drasticall as some craft paints. Good to know.
Definitely good to know!
Just a question, but aren't they supposed to be lightfast as another reason they're so expensive? Well mostly anyway. Have a great day
@@danielleb.7055 they do have lf rating but not many of them have excellent, most, I think, have good rating.
Rosa holds very well too, nice

Thank you - it was so fun and surprising to see the results, and I'm incredibly glad the Rosa Gallery and White Nights paints held up so well.
Lovely artwork :)
Thank you. ♥️
That flower is gorgeous. Lit up my day. Glad I don't have to worry about light fastness. All i do is play.
Playing is great. ❤️
Hello Miranda, i love watching your swatches from the window to see how they fared next to their counterparts. You painted that flower so beautifully. And the dogs are funny and cute.
Thanks, Diane! The flower was really fun to paint. All those pretty colors...
These lightfast tests are so interesting and helpful in deciding when to use an arty supply for wall art or presents vs sketchbook art.

I always find this series so interesting. I would expect the colors similar to opera rose to be the most fugative, but that's not always the case
Yeah, it's interesting how many rose-ish colors are holding up.

Yes, so many of them were surprising! Here is the link to the flower - it's so beautiful: pixabay.com/photos/flower-nature-flora-petal-summer-3140492/
I really like your flower! Interesting light fast testing. And you seem to have found the magic for the Hemi Gouache
Thank you and I hope so!

And I love your painting ❤
You're welcome (and thank you!). Yes, the most disappointing for me was the Hydrus watercolors. Sad.
Great lightfast test! Loved your flower, especially how you did the center, lots of depth to it.
Thank you.

Thank you - that's really sweet of you to say. I may start putting some of my artwork up in a store, but I haven't worked out the details yet.
Hello Miranda . I really love your creation for the Dena art challenge . Great looking art work. Big like from me !
Thank you so much 😀
Great video and it made me want the Rosa paints. Beautiful flower. I love that paper it’s fun to use for Christmas cards.
Great idea using it for Christmas cards!
Excellent job. Thank you for this. Cannot wait to see more tests. I’m really enjoying your videos. Much love.
Thank you! ❤️

It's such fun paper to work on. So pretty.
I love the hints of blue and green in the petals of your pretty flower power painting. I've been wondering how the Neocolor II's would fare in a lightfast test. Thanks for doing all the hard work for us. Several youtube artists seem to highly regard Rosa Gallery paints.
Yes, they are really fun to use, but I've actually only had the opportunity to use them just a few times. I need to change that!
Wow this was interesting.. and a lot of work. Thank you for sharing, Miranda! ❤
You are so welcome!
I love your videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Aw, thanks!
I’m not surprised that the Roman Szmal Hooker’s Green became more yellow. Their Hooker’s Green contains Prussian Blue which is not lightfast.
Yes.
Very informative! Have you ever try black Inktense (preferably block or pan) instead of sharpie for opacity value? the black Inktense is 8 on BW scale and don't repel water as much as some markers/ pens and stay permanent.
I have not tried that, but I certainly might now, thank you!

They are beautiful and affordable. I'm hoping to be able to use my Rosa Gallery palette tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Thanks, Miranda! I love FC Gelatos! When I got back into doing my own fine art, after a very long hiatus, I had been using Gelatos for fun and with paper-crafting and fell in love with them. They are delightful, aren't they? I'll have to try them on the art boards!
Incredible ❤
Great video thanks
Thanks, Karen!
Beautiful flower! What do people who visit say when they see the window from outside 😊
Thanks, Barbara! They often don't say much, but if we happen to walk over there, then I explain what's going on and they think it's pretty neat. :-D
First!
Time stamps would be so awesome
Good point! I'll try to do that in the future. Maybe I can get back to this video and do it here later as well.
