OMG! This is a preview of what my family will be doing when I leave this mortal realm, Miranda. I need to start divesting my art supplies!! Love your Nana’s painting. Cool!🎉 ❤
Giveaway. That’s so lovely to have so many of your Grandmother and Mum’s artwork! My Mum and I started art classes together a few years ago and she found some of my Nan’s old watercolour supplies. Now I’ve lost my Mum too I’ve got the things they both used which feels really special when I use them too. What I treasure most is the art I have from both of them though & the memories of painting together with my Mum
Hi, Miranda! What a lovely lot of memories. Whenever you talk about sharing so much art with both mother and grandmother, you have that 'sparkly look' of joy, mixed, I think, with heartache, and I appreciate it that you share the memories as well as the materials with us. Good to see that you have a second pencil!!! You were incredibly stressed out about that 'one only' permanent, always ready art bag, and the pencil was the thing which seemed to stress you the most! As with the other person who commented, and as I think you know, I have that small art bag which goes everywhere with me, and the only thing I tend to need from it is the small, flat, squared ruler which came with something else and which I can't find anywhere online! Useful for a small bag, but also for working in that 4x4 sketchbook!!! Everything else is a down-sized duplicate. And I really have eventually learned to love the replacement for the elderly bum bag! My favourite things were those glass bottles. They look like those we used to have for milk, with a silver top (are they about half a pint / 250ml?), and the small ones, we have here for certain more expensive yogurt, or creme desserts (about 4oz - 125 grams). I love the jars, but not their contents, but my friend liked them when she visited, so I have some and use them for storing little things, or for still life, but yours are even smaller - soo cute! The other thing was the set of Fiskars cutter templates. I have five, and they are very old now, very well-used, and the edges are not so smooth, but they are still useable and useful - much easier than hoicking out the heavy Sizzix just for one cut out or template! In fact I have one on my work table for a Christmas project I'm working on! I have never been able to find the window frames, and having done another search online, can't find any of ther templates now! Hope you find the proper cutter for them. I read through the comments, and a lot of folks have spelt that word for the microns with capitals or ( ) . Do they still get entered in the draw? I've often wondered! 🤗🫂
I haven't found the cutter for the Fiskars templates yet but they are fun regardless. Yes, people who use the word either with or without capitals are still entered and even if they have the parenthesis, it will catch those too, as long as the word is spelled correctly. That's the important part - it must be spelled correctly. All one word, no space. Thanks, Mrs. B. Sorry it took so long to reply!
Giveaway. It's wonderful that you've been able to share art with both your grandma and your mom. And having some of these supplies will strengthen your memories as you use them.
She had some clear bins that are really neat, too, that I'm going to bring home next week. They'll be great for sorting and storing my supplies. And I like that I can see inside them. 😏
6:16 oil painting gives me Sandi Hestor vibes, I love it. It's so nice knowing all these art supplies will get loved and used, and all her paintings will be remembered.
I'm sorry about your grandmother's passing. I'm glad you had a chance to give the items a new home. I often think about my grandmothers, and one of them did incredible acrylic paintings of owls and landscapes.
Giveaway. What a blessing to have some of your grandma’s supplies to use. And the artwork, keepers for sure! I love the ocean scene that you both painted, cool to compare each other’s style and ability. ❤️
It's so wonderful to see you appreciate your Grandma's precious work and repurpose her treasures. At the same time it's so sad to know she probably hoped to use the stuff at some point but never got around to it. Some of the items are barely touched...not even open yet 😢 We should use our art supplies!!!
Welcome and I'm glad to have you! Yeah, sad that she had so many new and unused things. That's a good part of the reason I went on a permanent no-buy, but somehow I keep accumulating things, lol.
Really such a sweet & sentimental & useful “haul”! And now to integrate it into your studio! I know using my dads paint brushes feels special to me- I’m glad you have kept some of your grandmothers things- I bet she would be pleased! 💕 thanks for sharing
Giveaway - i use Micron fineliners All. The. Time. in my watercolor and mixed media abstract paintings 😊 What a blessing that you inherited such wonderful supplies from your grandma - but even more, the happy memories that these supplies kindle in your heart 🥰 Take care and have a lovely day 😃
I haven’t really been watching art hauls, but I was wondering how one would work on a no-buy and I’m glad I checked it out 😊. I love that your Grandma’s cherished supplies will still be loved and enjoyed. I think all crafters/artists would love that for their art supplies! It was lovely to see so many paintings done by your mom/grandma! The air brush supplies are fun; I have an air brush, but it’s for using food colouring and cookie/cake decorating 😅. So nice to see such a wide variety of items collected over the years… you definitely did the right thing in bringing them home ❤. I am sooooo happy/relieved your friend sent you a second pencil. I was worried after your obvious concern during the last video 😂,
I never thought about air brushes being used on cakes, but that makes sense. I should probably sell mine; I feel like I just won't use it much. But I'll try it out first just in case. I love having all these fun things from them. ❤️
Hullo Miranda, I shudder when I think about whomever is going to be cleaning out my studio and home as like most artists I do have supplies everywhere! You have a lovely friend who wanted you to know that your mechanical pencil needs are met! I have a couple of unused Aqua boards they are so wonderful to work on! I have cleaned them off and re-used after the picture I made was not as lovely as I wished. Now depending upon what mediums are being used will determine just how clean they get! I know that you will enjoy working on them and unless the watercolor paper has gotten wet or something to cause the sizing to go bad, even if it does gouache and pencils will work on it! Good paper just lasts and lasts! Thank you for sharing all of your hand-me-down supplies! Great fun!
Yeah, we do seem to collect all the fun supplies, don't we? I've used the AquaBord a few times, but it's been a while. I have a lot to get through, lol.
Giveaway. Wow what a neat assortment to be able to go through and all the memories that go along with it. TY for sharing it with us! She must have an amazing talent from what you have shown!
Giveaway 😊 what a great gift to have found all of these lovely things. Especially her paintings - when I lost my mum I found drawings she'd done when I cleared her things - they're so precious to have.
Good plan to take things home to see if you'll bond with them. You can always move them on to the thrift store, but you can pretty much never get them back if you pass them up. That's how I did it too, but full disclosure --> I still have most of the items, ha. My poor heirs will have quite a chore. Love the paintings. Your grandma was a talented artist and art supply maven! Enjoy
I found a couple of those sturdy orange stencils at the thrift store. I was inspired by thefrugalcrafter to use what I had. I got the squares and arches and I use them to separate my page into smaller areas.
giveaway that would be so kind of you to giveaway some of your Grandma's art supplies! :) My Gramma just turned 87 yesterday! I am grateful every year for her :)
What a fab haul!! And full of memories too, that's the best part, I don't know if your posting to the UK but just incase I'd love to enter the GIVEAWAY for the microns I actually have them on my wish list as I've never tried them before, love the fact that you, your mum and grandmother all painted together!! That's so special!! :D
