Travel back to the centre of Victorian Lincoln on Broadgate

Today's video is back on Broadgate in the centre of Lincoln, and includes a wonderful old colourised photo that I believe dates from the late 19th century? As well as a rare motorised vehicle free view it also shows two of Lincoln's most neglected old buildings, that would have been pretty new at the time of the old photo...
Lincoln’s Constitutional Club is on the left of the video. This Grade II listed building, dating from 1895, was designed by William Watkins in the Flemish Renaissance Revival style that he also used in other prominent Lincoln buildings that have been in previous videos. It has taken on several forms during its lifetime - a gentlemen's club, various bars and nightclubs - but despite being a staple of the city's architectural footprint, it has been sitting empty for years. It went on the market in March 2020, around the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and more than four years on, a buyer is yet to come forward?
On the right is the Oddfellows Hall, that was finished in 1897 and has been home to Ruston Social Club, offices including William Mortimer, and most recently as a hostel. It was also where we had a wonderful Ceilidh on the evening of our wedding in the 1990s! It is not classed as listed but is located on the edge of a City of Lincoln Conservation area. Several plans have been put forward to convert it into residential flats, but at this time I'm not sure how advanced they are?

This is a interesting one. I always think broadgate seems like a bit of a ghost street. I think the dual carriageway doesn't help really

It's all about channelling traffic through the centre of Lincoln these days unfortunately :(
