That was a real extended play treat. Thank you Brothers. I formed a band with my friend Al poliak playing gigs in Virginia Washington DC and Maryland. Al turned me on to the outlaws, skynyrd, the whole southern rock genre. I was hooked. We were called the Southern Sage Band. We tried to do Green Grass and High Tides and a number of other Henry Paul songs justice, but definitely fel short of this band. We did have a wonderful piano and keyboard player in Al. It's like that song by Bob Seger in days gone by video "like a rock" Where did the years go. We were in the happy Carefree days of Youth. Now 66 and at peace with God and Men through Christ, I still Celebrate life and appreciate this excellent piece of artwork and musicians talent.
Thank you for the comment. Southern rock music has always been my favorite. So much great music came out of the 1970s with these bands. Peace and God bless to you.
I'm proud to have lived the Southern life I have lived. I was working in the paint shop at the Belview Biltmore the first time I heard this on the radio. Damn, I'm old. I remember crashing at Frank's house in Largo. His mom was like the Shepard of us teens just trying to grow up. She was Ma to all of us. O'Keefe"s restaurant was never the same after Bill passed. Frank's brother Mike was a pretty good drummer too. He once said he saw what fame did to people and wanted no part. He had the best vinal collection I've ever seen though.
Boomer here…. I’ve seen these guys over 100 times. Wear a helmet, cuz when when they wind this mofo up… the freaking roof blows off of the auditorium. Thank you Hughie, Billy and Henry. You make an old man smile and rip out his air guitar every time I TURN THIS UP !!!!
At 15 years old I got the outlaws tattoo on my thigh. At 56 saw them again in ft myers FL at the Ranch Absolutely love them Outlaws forever and God bless
One of the all time greatest southern rock tunes brought to you by an awesome bunch of very talented musicians.... I really like the jammin' going on. This song seems hardly affected by all the personel changes and after all these long years it still blows my mind
The Outlaws down in Tampa town it's a mighty fine place to be...they got green grass and they got high tides and it sure looks good to me! RIP Danny Joe....God I miss the 70s and 80s and Southern Rock!
Its an easy place to get knocked off. BTW Henry Paul had a couple solo albums that wee pretty good. I found a cassette of one at. Flea Mkt in Richmond. Where else the Capital of the Confederacy. I miss the Rebel Flags at the southern concerts. It was OUR FLAG. Our history.
Really good Southern good old boy's rockin roll 😊 I believe this group has always been underrated in the music 🎶 industry 😮 these Rebels can hold their own with any other band 😊
The Outlaws Amazing Tribute of these great Guitarists ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best Southern Rock of all time a high quality sound power due to its three Amazing Guitarists Hugh Edward Thomasson, Jr. Billy, Frank R.I.P. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Good bless the southern boys Henry Paul ,outaws,hachet,lynard,38, can't forget Marshall Tucker live in boys we all luv u thank u for the greatest music I the world🤘
The most exciting 10 secs in Southern rock at 16.10 or thereabouts. Wheres my Blood press meds. My son who was born in 83, said "Theyre pretty good huh?" What a kid.
I'm so glad that not everyone is beating up on Henry; he was one of the originals, and I believe that he would rather be on the stage with Hughie, Billie, Frank, and Monte, like it was in the beginning. A lot of people say that Henry is one with the least class, but I believe that he has a lot of class act in him. If he didn't, he wouldn't be where he is now.
Extended thought. You guys did a great job where Huey Frank and Billy played. I was amazed how true to the first recording this was. Remember we learned all these licks without UA-cam and tablature just by listening and trying and watching at concerts
Awesome... Though I always sort of wondered if 15 minutes into this The Outlaws musicians were like: "Hey, how do we get out of this song?" "Right, did anyone write an ending?" "Not me... I just wrote all this great lead-in." "Dammit, somone figure out how to end this." "I agree.. my fingers are bleeding... I gotta stop!" "Would someone please figure out a way to end this? I am getting dizzy!" "Ok... let me see if I can wind this down... Oh crap, just went in another circle." "Dang, would someone find a way out of this, I just lost a thumbnail..." One of the great guitar and bass works of all time!
they really turned this into awesome guitar show everyone gets chance awesome! players! that was fucking amazing! gREAT JOB GUYS I TRULY LOVED YOUR PERFORMANCE!
Great song, Bought this Album in HS and wore it out! Sure do miss Hughie. Saw them one and only time in '07(Chula Vista, Ca), month or so before Hughie passed.
Hughie and Billy are greatly missed. They were both great players and no one really compares to them playing this. But Henry Paul has managed to hire some very good guitarists to play the Outlaws' songs.
The guitar playing really is some of the best I’ve heard but I can’t believe no one has mentioned the duet between the two. To see what looks like an ‘off the cuff’ playing and to watch them match the key, tone and style of the other is incredible talent. Just absolutely incredible
Monumental.Hughie,etc.laugh and clap in heaven every time you can play this song.Go see the Outlaws now somewhere and if you do not like them...I will be surprised.Look at the mutual respect they give each other.Someone asked Neal Schon of Journey how he could play the same music night after night..he answered because we love hearing our own music.
This was recorded down in Florida. They do a couple of annual shows every year around mid-December. It's part of their Christmas Jam. The band always invites friends of theirs which are part of the opening band up on the stage to jam with them. Two members(Jim Fish and Billy Crain) of the Henry Paul Band (a group that Henry put together for a few years in the late '70s) came up on stage to jam with them.
I've been a huge fan of country rock music since 1973 I was 13 back then. This Outlaws live GGHTF was one of the best live performance and song I've seen.
Green Grass and High Tides Forever An All Time Great ! I can't believe this was released in 1975 - Time sure goes to fast - The song lives on and nicely done live in 2016.
