It’s almost like the moment you sit in the drivers seat of an Altima something comes over you and you’re automatically an “Altima driver” and when you get out you go back to normal haha 😂
I have a 2010 2.5 Altima with 155k - original everything. CVT has been flushed, not drain and filled, every 30k. The CVT started to overheat on hot days, putting it into limp mode. I learned that the dealer does not drop and clean the pan OR change the mesh and cartridge filter during CVT service. A buildup of metal slurry accumulated in the filter and on the pan, which can reduce the CVT's ability to dissipate heat from the fluid. At 150k, I had the pan dropped and cleaned, and both filters replaced due to the overheating. I also had an external cooler installed. I'm happy to say that it no longer overheats, even in 110 degree temps going 90 up steep hills in Oklahoma. This is the most reliable car I've ever owned. The CVT just requires extra TLC and maintenance that most owners don't care to perform.
I love my Nissan but this is the issue I keep on having. Happy to hear that some changes and regular maintenance can fix that. When you say you had an external cooler installed, was it easy to do yourself or neededsomeone to do it for you? Also, if you don't mind me asking, around how much did it cost to have the external cooler installed? Any videos or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
I purchased my sister a 2012 altima black on black leather with bose and rear vents. Car drove excellent. She crashed it so i purchased her a 2008 altima 3.5 v6 but woth no leather. She loves her car. Has had no cvt issues in the year and a half shes had it. She totalled the 2010. She better not totoal this 1 because im not buying another 1. She's SOL this time.
Nice, I’ve had my 2007 Maxima for just about 2 years now and its the best car I’ve owned, about to do some light mods after I get the body work finished
hey man! i’m 16 and really thinking of buying this car (or 2009) and i’m hearing a lot about the cvt engine. do you think it’ll be good as a first car?
@ bro r those 2 cars even comparable lol? volvo looks like a grandpa car…. & in my area, a well maintained altima is $5k. volvo is more? bad recommendation bro i’ll ask someone else
I’ve never been in this generation but it seems solid. If they hadn’t been notorious for cvt overheating seems it would’ve been a pretty solid commuter. However I’ve heard plenty of people in Nissan groups say they’ve gone 200k + original cvt.
It's great as a commuter as is. Long trips though, especially on hills, is when the CVT issues typically happen. However, if the CVT is well maintened regularly, about every 30-50k, it will be solid and not experience the notorious CVT issues it had :,) Took me a few years to figure this out lol.
Double tap the pedal at 35 mph and the revs go up quicker or switch to manual mode around 35 and let the 1st fesr go to redline then switch back to drive. Altima antics. It works though :)
@@DMCarReviews that means you didn't do it right or maybe you needed to do it at 40. This car was always hard to get it to rev quicker to 6k. I have a video I belive in my profile thst I have to find making the car rev a few hundred rpm earlier in the rev range. The versa I had in 2008 was much easier to do it and wayyyy more noticeable. By 30 It would sing at redline when I doubt tapped the pedal. I could ever barely get it right in this altims so I would just start off in drive then manual mode at 35mph then back to drive when the car was about to redline 1st gear.
2007 and 2008 altima is actually a bit quicker than the 2010. 2010 has 1mpg better on the highway than those years but the axle rstio chsnge made the 2010 rev slower. Ive driven both. The 2010 revs lower on the hwy also compared to the 2010 by a few hundred rpm.
@DMCarReviews no if you look at a 2007 altima on motortrend or car anddriver thr 0-60 is around 7.4 but the 2010 is around 8.3. It makes a big difference in the 0-40. Try to find a 2007. I promise you it's more rev happy and the manual mode gears are also shorter. 2nd gear ends at 60 with the 2007 but in 2010 the 2nd gear ends at 70mph. I'm not sure why you didn't test the manual mode. I usue to love flooring the car in 2nd gear at 40 then using manual mode to downshift into 1st. You feel a real nice kick and snappy instant downshift but then drop it back into drive :)
We have a 2011 3.5 SR. Revs don't pass 2k on some highway on ramps to get up to highway speed by the end of the ramp. I still wouldn't call even the 3.5 fast or very sporty but a good effortless a to b car.
Nope…Special Edition Altimas don’t come with sunroofs….I have one and know the only thing they added that stands out from the S trim are 16in alloys, fog lights, leather wrapped steering wheel, spoiler, audio controls on the steering wheel, and automatic on/off headlights
Do you know the asking price for that vehicle... without telling me to call or contact the dealer I'm asking you because you did not record the window stickers
Depends if he films it on a 100 degree day then it might not be lol but right now I have both 2wd and 4wd altimas in my driveway and the 2wd feels quicker but the awd gets from 0-15 quicker if brake launch but the 2wd goes crazy to redline if you get a good launch and will definitely beat the awd model.
The only thing that I hate about those Nissan is that the transmission which is a cvt transmission it be sounding like it doesn’t shift that it sounds weird 💀
@@JaeHunt nah but even if I drive it normally like max 3k rpm’s I hate how it sounds it be sounding that does not shift from one gear which is a cvt transmission
Depends on which one you get. If it's a 1-2 owner Altima with lower miles and great service records, most likely it will be great. If it's got tons of miles and no service records, then that will be a gamble. Overall, it is a very reliable car.
