Useful review thanks. My ex neighbour has a fully loaded one from new and I suspect they still have it. Expensive when new and misunderstood but becoming really appealing given it's resistance to rust, fuel economy and practicality. I'd absolutely consider one, values will only head up as no OEM would ever invest so much in a small car again.
I owned the 4 different engine types of the A2 , and would say the BHC tdi 75 is the one to go for , i ended up with ATL 90 Tdi , which has got the MYP gear box , and remapped to 120 bhp , it’s a very fun car to drive and has given myself many years of loyal service . It’s heading for 200k , and fully expected it to last for 300k Couple of points to add , wishbones are now failing on the later models , and anything with “interesting options “ from the factory are demanding strong money . The FSI is a really fun car to drive , but can be challenging to own if your not handy with the spanner’s and code reader … 1.4 petrol is rather “boring “ but well suited to shorter journeys around towns and city’s Having owned an AUDI A2 for nearly 19 year in one form or another, I would recommend them to interested folks , but with caveats , buyer beware ! Your buying a old car !
Good advice here! From what I read, the 75 is indeed the happy “across the board” best for most people. In all honestly it’s a fantastic package that was sorely under appreciated new. And even now! Values are indeed increasing for those with big options. They were expensive new, and throughout the years cut options to try and claw back Audis losses. So rightly, that’s affected used values. Overall I am pretty sad I sold mine but very glad I saved one from the scrap heap!
I’ve had mine since it was a year old Audi demonstrator. After 225,000 miles and nearly 19 years it’s not too bad but could really do with a really good refurb and conversion to an EV. The engine is ‘showing its age’ but still works, nothing broken with original gearbox and clutch. There is plenty of life left in it other than the engine. The fact that at 390 litres it has a larger boot than most of its competitors is proof of the engineering and design quality.
Drove an 1.6fsi for a few years, what a 🐖 to work on! Great when it worked, which wasn't often. Loads of niggles, engine management lights etc. Got booted into touch when the selector tower went 😆. I did like the qwerky design.
Good review Jason; liked it mate. Your video with you polishing the car turned out to be a cracking job. You really tidied up the paint!! Garage of Dad; You've bought another one!! I'll need to have a wee look at your page and see what its like. Might contact you actually. I need to source a bit of trim, but I'll drop you a message. Stay safe boys. John from EK.
I recently acquirede one aswell. Petrol one. When my mate said it looked like a DC sneak, I did a comparesan and he was right. But ya, they are tbh grate little things. Feel alot bigger than it is and drives like a big car, not any of that nervously feeling steering input as cars that size normally have. My opinion is that the A2 is what happens when late 1990's engineers take LSD, design a car with a amazing low drag, aluminium construction and forget to ask the design department what they think of the looks 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Jason. Thanks for the update on the A2. Good luck in your new job (whatever it is)?. Looking forward to more uploads in the future. Your dog appears to have a relaxed and laid back attitude. Just like yourself. 😉 See you in the next one. 👍
Hated my a2 at first but it's grown on me had it a year now and to be fair it's never let me down all I've done is service it and replace front shocks when got it... rear springs tomorrow as one snapped been great fun...my only bug bear is the lining in the roof I've carpet spray glued and tried double side carpet tape but it's dien again.. could of been the heat recently but who knows.. have you tackled yours yet or any ideas on a solution it's the cars only let down..many thanks enjoy your vids
Hi Jason 👋, thanks for the great information. Please can you share with us some links for upgrades and necessary information like how to get the power band increased. I'd like to have mine upto 150 hp. Is safe to go that high?
Hi, really liked your videos on the A2 :) Today I just somehow started to worry about the PD elements.. Too many FB posts reading on an owners club.. Do you think is it something that we need to worry about? Compared to a direct injection fuel system? Thanks in advance, Aron
I picked up my tdi 75 from ebay for a grand, unseen! Not been mot'd for 2 years but looked pretty mint in the pics, with a long service history. Needed a steering rack putting on, as it said in the ad but all in it was £450 to get it through the mot. It drives nice on twisty backroads ,and like you say is a great reminder of how much fun a small lightweight car can be! Previous car was a w204 c220 and the A2 beats it in so many ways even though its a lot older.

Maybe letting mine go soon
@@wayneblackman5747 it’s tempting to buy one just to tick the box I’ll admit.. I have no need or room for a fourth car but would fun!
Dunno if I'd part with it just yet anyway especially if going up in value

That is a cracking pup
I like the way every car is shaped like an A2 in the rear view mirror, because of the curve in the tailgate glass.
Great blog Jason.

I'm surprised more havent been EV Swapped, it seems like a no-brainer to me given how popular home EV Conversions are becoming!
@@TyredFormat , so am I.

Spot on with your review. Just bought myself another TDi and love it!

Nice haircut btw, Jason.
Haha Thanks!
I tried to persuade my wife to get an A2, but she said it looks like a pram, oh well!
Can you please share a link for the guy who did your remap and wiper arm? Thanks
It’s a chap off the A2OC forums called “depronman”
