Loving the A2 content, these seem such incredible value for vehicles so ahead of its time and probably no manufacturer would invest so much in to a small car, a commercial failure but technical triumph!
Love the A2 content. It's some of the most painful stuff to watch. Looks like the A2 spent some of its life rallying on dirt roads and that rear suspension was just sheer perfection 😱 Nothing seems easy on an A2 maintenance wise what with everything being shoehorned into such tight spaces. Top work fella!
It spent most of its life down in Cornwall so I imagine the sea air is what had taken its toll! That and a lack of cleaning underneath. Also, I did a bit of Google street view stalking and one particular previous owners address appears to be up a very rutted farm track. So that explains all the rally damage too!
I put Bilstein stuff on my TDI changed the car completely next was tyres old rubbers and leaking rims were a nightmare changed to Sumitomo BT100 great ride now...
These A2 videos are very useful. Mine’s done 225,000 miles, needs work and I’d like to keep it to convert to an EV at some point. So I just need it to work mechanically, the engine and exhaust etc minimally so. The cosmetic stuff such as seat and vents etc can wait :-)
I feel the same as you, I did on Grande Punto the front stocks which required to remove the windscreen wiper arms and the plastic low panel of the windscreen to access the top mount, who ever design this is an idiot.
Jesus pal I feel your pain. That bolt holding the wishbone is a stretch bolt and should be replaced every time. I believe the torque is either 50 or 70nm plus 90 degree turn, something like that, weight on wheels of course. It threads into the aluminium console so don't just hit it with an impact 🤣. Not sure about mot but on the mot equivalent in my country they only test imbalance of the shocks, if they are all equally fcuked, then thats a big fat pass! Are you an Aircraft tech by any chance, ACF50 on the job, have several cans myself courtesy of my workplace 😀
No, not that I notice. Handles great with the stiff shocks! Obviously if you want to go down the handling route you’re better off upgrading the ARB, and also fitting expensive coilovers. In this instance, I have cheap stuff coilovers that are more than capable of cancelling out any body roll
May or may not have been the washer bottle. And some have said it was also a completely full washer bottle. All I will say is, I have a good used washer bottle to fit now...
A few people mentioned this before, but ALL the brake pads up front have the retaining clip (inside and out, on both sides). So not much I can do there...
@@TyredFormat they all have the retaining clip but with a set of four pads u have two times two different retaining clips. the one i see has the flapped clip which has to be in the cilinder on both sides. one of those has the cable with plug . I fit those sets weekly fromn different brands, TRW Brembo and BOSCH.

It looks like it's been sitting in water most of its life. Underside excessively rusty. Hats off to your patience with this car.

I enjoy the A2 content...
Great video mate. I’ve opted for bilstein b4 shocks and vogtland 35/30mm springs for my 1.6 fsi se 😊
that hub nut/wishbone bush/rear shock combo is the holy trinity of accident investigator's dreams
please fix the headlining. please.
What an absolute ballache!!! Great job Jason and really enjoying the content as always!

Easier to buy a s/h i3 and keep A2 for long trips
Thanks for telling us that rattle was not something structural. I was wondering ever since the “intro.”
Great content 👌
I think you fit ford puma droplinks when you lower these (too late now lol)

I put Bilstein B4s on my TDI - it worked OK but was unremarkable IMO
Did you swap top mounts front or did they come with the kit fitted?
Great vid once again!
Has handling been effected by removing the ARB?
No, not that I notice. Handles great with the stiff shocks!

Quality video and the lower ride height will help improve the economy too! What did you pierce with the self tapper ? 👀🤣

@@TyredFormat legend happens to the best of us mate 🤦🏻♂️🤣

Acf 50 is just marketing
Nooo. I’ve used it for years!
