Yeah they would've surely had good chances there too. Just adressed Euro 1992 since they were kicked out mere weeks before the tournament began.

nothing would happend because most of the players were from croatia or bosnia - and there was a war so those players wouldnt play for Yugo (Suker, boban, asanivić,vulić, prosinecki, etc)

I am going to give two separate answers.
    1. If they went as the FR Yugoslavia with the 20-man team named with Serbs, Montenegrins, and players based in Serbia, and were coached by that two-man commission the Yugoslav FA hired, I don’t think they had the depth to win. Stojkovic also had a bad season with Hellas Verona in Serie A.
    2. If Yugoslavia did not have those ethnic tensions rising and did not have a civil war, they would have won the tournament with consummate ease. Osim learned from the mistakes of that 4-1 defeat to West Germany at the 1990 World Cup and he became less biased towards Bosnians. When he had an even spread of players from different ethnicities, that team was stacked. He effectively would have had two starting XIs.
Potential XI: Ivkovic; Spasic, Jozic, Najdoski; Stanojkovic, Prosinecki, Katanec, Boban, Jarni; Savicevic; Pancev
Second XI: Omerovic; Vulic, Djukic, Bilic; Stanic, Stojkovic, Jugovic, Bazdarevic, Mihajlovic; Mijatovic, Suker
That's also not including Jokanovic, Asanovic, Boksic, and others from that era. Meanwhile, Osim stopped capping Refik Sabanadzovic after 1990.
When you consider that Yugoslavia won the 1987 U-20 World Cup, Red Star Belgrade won the 1991 European Cup, Savicevic and Boban starred for AC Milan in the 1994 CL triumph, and Croatia came third at the 1998 World Cup, you can see why people would think a unified Yugoslavia had the players to win international tournaments after years of underachieving.

I think Yoguslavia would have reached the higher echelons of power in Europe in 1992. By 1994 (world cup in USA), it would have been possible to see Yoguslavia in the semi-finals. I always, always think about the potential of what Yoguslavia could have done in every tournament. I was always impressed with the former Yoguslavia. It's a pitty really that the old country never had the perfect chance to soar high above many others.......although it did do really well in 1990 world cup and euro qualifiers 1991-1992.
    I lament those days.
I still watch old tapes of their games in the 70s, 80s and early 90's. I can arguably say that their 1998 world cup team lost by tough luck against the Netherlands. The Yoguslavs had the best midfield back then.
I also collect the profiles of their stars throughout the past decades and the brilliant (many) coaches that the old country produced.

YUGOSLAVIA..The Brazilians of Europe certainly will win the tournament of EURO'92 SWEDEN, WORLD CUP USA'94, EURO'96 ENGLAND & WORLD CUP FRANCE'98...

I think Yugoslavia had won the Euro 1992. The team was approching his peak in 1992 (with Red Star winning the European Cup without star Stojkovic in 1991). In 1994 and 1996 WC and EC they stood a chance to win. In 1998 Croatia became third on the WC with Suker, Boban and Prosincki. Yugoslavia lost in the last second against a strong Dutch team and because of missing a penalty. With Savicevic, Mijatovic, Jugovic. Mihailovic, and Stojkovic.
The old Yugoslavia united as before the war i the 1992-1998 years surely won some prices.
In the 1992EC Germany was over the hill with this great team. In 1986 second on the WC, 1990 World champion. In 1992 Germany was saved by Scotland who beated Russia in the poule. Yugoslavia stronger and more experience than 1990 and Germany over the hill i go for a Yugoslavia victory.

    What if?
Denmark wouldn't have brag for around 80 years (probably another 50 years before it happens again) to be the ONLY SCANDINAVIANS to have a cup in the cabinet! :-P
What if... Yugoslavia would have not only remained one country... but become one nation.... at least a couple of WC wouldn't have gone were they went.
Bad news: at Euro92 I supported Netherlands (after the Euro88 final... ) and the underdogs... Denmark!
Now the good news: Henrik Larsson is the greatest! Zlatan is good (best pro! You don't play at 40 if you are a 'standard' pro)... but too... strong against the weaks and weak against the strongs.
In Fantasy Football season 96/97 with friends: I won. I bought a striker hoping he would have scored more, but honestly I would have bought him anyway! The BEST EVER celebration for a goal at the WC: mimic an aussie football umpire signaling a goal! Guess the player! ;)

So what ? The Netherlands beat Germany in Euro 88 and lost to the Germans in 90. From a competition to the following one, it's not, sometimes, the same thing nor the same results.
