This video is very good. Amazingly accurate considering you're not from here (?). I am a football coach and I work in Serbia in the same tier as OFK Beograd. I would just add a few more things that are contributing to the fact serbian football is disappearing as a whole: 1. People who run the clubs (boards) are in 98% of the cases people who are not "from football" - they come from other businesses and they make all the important decisions while having NO knowledge of how football works. Also, the boards are in 90% of cases in the governening dictatorship party SNS and are licking asses in order to stay on their positions. 2. Coaching education is abysmal. Licensing courses are being conducted by failed coaches who have no job so they try to force themselves into FSS (Serbian Football Association) in order to make some money. As a product you have terrible youth coaching, where less than 5% of coaches in our country work with kids the way they should. 3. FSS (Serbian Football Association) is run by a man that is on that position only because he is a close friend of serbian "president" Aleksandar Vučić and he owes him a favour. FSS president has no clue about football. Also, he is crooked. Almost 60-70% of matches in top3 tiers are fixed or at least the ref doesn't whistle 50-50. Fixing matches is probably the biggest problem. 4. Kids are spoiled. Never taught how to think and how to absorb informations. Never have their own opinions and then they become "slaves" rather than strong characters. Cheers, and thanks for a video that treats this topic. We are dying to be heard in the world about our serious problems!

As Serbian follower of this channel since 2016, I love to see videos about Serbian football. You made couple mistakes (incomplete map of Serbia, Russian letters, that Metalac crest belongs to club from Gornji Milanovac which is not related to OFK Beograd) in this video but the main point is correct and clear to understand.
I don't understand why there are so many illustrations in the Russian language. And why Kosovo is shown as an independent country, while Montenegro is not?! When it comes to OFK Beograd, the situation is rather depressing. It is the oldest and most beloved football club in Belgrade, by neutrals at least. Unfortunately, a few days ago, the legendary Petkovic died (not from COVID 19 though) and it seems as this legendary club is dying at the same time. It should be mentioned that while the club was living it's best years in the latest period, the president was a person accused of various frauds and crimes, being on the Interpol warrant list. The same person, Zvezdan Terzić, is the current president of Red Star Belgrade. Needless to say, politics and crime have a huge part in Serbian football (and sports in general), and nothing seems to be even close to change while the people in charge take the profit from it.
I also don't understand why Monenegro is missing. The history of OFK is really sad, but hopefully they will survive. It is very sad to see how the reality in all the countries of former Yugoslavia is nowadays. In Croatia is no competition anymore, Bosnia and Herzegovina's best clubs can't motivate the people to come to the games, FK Budocnost is to big for the league in Montenegro...so many problems and no chance to get out of this misery.
2:40 actually, the shield of Metalac you put is wrong because it is from another Metalac (from Gornji Milanovac) which will play in Superleague this season and has nohing to do with OFK.

Some Serbian teams will be gone, but new ones are born, like TSC in Vojvodina, really good run and professional young team. Like fresh air in Serbian football, they even got into Europe on their first year in the top Serbian league.
They were not “born”, they are bankrolled by Viktor Orban and the Hungarian gov’t as a community engagement tool to appease the ethnic Hungarians in the Vojvodina region. A modern day revival with political undertones has seen TSC thrive, and i disagree with the above statement by Cofi; they’re doing very well in season 2 at the top, he must be a Partizan fan! :)
@@ilijatrojanovic8619 I'mSerb but i'm finr with Hungarian gov investing in Hungarian community in Serbia, they built great football academy and their new stadium is under construction. I just don't like some nationalistic banners and chants coming from TSC fans, it doesn't represent Hungarians in Vojvodina province in good picture since most of Hungarians are real patriots both for Serbia as their homeland and Hungary for ethnic reason and they don't care about such political bullshit and don't want any divide.
carick235 I don’t disagree. What they’ve accomplished is very impressive and they have a top manager. They’re also trying to create a scene on the terraces which is always a pleasure to see. Nenad Lukic and Vladimir Siladji - to name only a few - have been some of the best players in the league, I hope to see them in the best 11 for 2019-20 Superliga, or at least one of them.

Logo of Metalac that was shown in 2:40 has nothing to do with Metalac associated with OFK Belgrade. It is a logo of Metalac from Gornji Milanovac, that played in Serbian 2nd tear in 2019/20 and is now promoted to our top tier.

4:26 But that isn't true? France exports just twice as many players but their population is 9 times bigger? Argentina's population is 40 million, too. They don't export more players per capita than Serbia, do they?
European football needs some serious kind of revenue sharing for the smaller leagues and lower flights. FFP may prevent some clubs from going bankrupt, but with so much revenue concentrated at the top end of the sport, it's really hard for smaller teams to compete or turn a profit.
France 67 million people - exports 1027, Argentina 45 million people - exports 972, Serbia 7 million people - exports 521. How is France and Argentina more per capita, what am I missing?
A video about NK Olimpija and Milan Mandarič would be interesting, how he forces success without any time for the players and manager to get a proper effect
Hey. In Belgium I saw your video on article. I saw a similar comment from a different country. Is this by your permission. The article company is Sporza
This is a very sobering piece. While many would see football as just a game it has evolved into a massive industry and like most, is severely affected by this pandemic and can have disastrous effects for many. It wouldn't be nice to watch those at risk clubs suffer then disappear. Although life involves loss it would be good for some kind of innovation/intervention to occur which saves some of thse institutions. Good content again Tifo.
Ofk isnt BSK! Bsk ad you said was dissolwed in 1945 and OFK was previously called Metalac and then changed name because the president of Metalac was a fan of former BSK. But that doesnt mean OFK can take BSK history.
The exports per capita seems very wrong. If it's just the number of exports on screen divided by population there's no way Argentina and France export more, but Croatia does
Lol you put logo of FK Metalac from Gornji Milanovac (town in central Serbia), which is playing Superliga now, it's not Metalac you mention in the video.
@@geraldclydeabella3350 Nah, they are in the hands of the state. So, when Tadic was president Partizan was strong, now vucic is dictator and Red Star is strong. They are fans of those clubs.
TIFO could you please make a video on the Ballon d'Or vs the FIFA Player of the year award? People always assume the Ballon is the best prize yet they've made so many dumb decisions and throughout history, the FIFA POTY award has been more accurate with their choices, for example: 1996 FIFA POTY - Ronaldo vs 1996 Ballon d'Or - Matthias Sammer 2001 FIFA POTY Luis Figo vs 2001 Ballon d'Or - Micheal Owen 2003 FIFA POTY Zidane vs 2003 Ballon d'Or - Pavel Nedved 2004 FIFA POTY Ronaldinho vs Ballon d'Or Shevchenko Clearly, just off these examples alone, it's easy to see that the FIFA POTY is more credible and reliable in terms of picking the best player so why do some many people still hold the Ballon d'Or to a higher standard?
Dear Tifo, thanks for great content once again. Please, one correction, hopefully the mistake was not on purpose: Montenegro, today also an indepentent state, comprised the Yugoslavian post war state next to the other 6 republics 👍🏻👋🏻
Re: UEFA solidarity payments, do the clubs get paid based on how much time they spent developing said player? For example, if the player was at Club A for 5 years, and Club B for 1 year, would Club A get more money from a sale?
The clubs get a specific % of the transfer fee for every year they developed the player. But the % changes with the age of the player (when he was developed at the former club)
The biggest problem with Serbian football clubs is that the state refuses to privatize them so they launder money by "massively investing" into Partizan and Red Star, while taking all of the money received from the competition money and transfers to themselves (since 2010 Partizan had made around 100 million euros in transfer profit, and at least 20 in European competition rewards, while Red Star has made at least 50 million from competing in Europe), but the Serbian state writes this off, by mentioning made-up "debts", and are "investing" even more into the two clubs. It was estimated that in the last 8 years 2.8 billion Euros have been put into Red Star and Partizan's football and basketball clubs, without many results (only Partizan Basketball Club reaching the Euroleague semifinals), with other clubs scraping to get European football and high transfer fees from abroad (except the only privately owned Serbian club, Čukarički Stankom, which is getting slaughtered by the refs every single season), the best example is my hometown club, Radnički Kragujevac, a club with a great academy which has produced, among others, the likes of Luka Milivojević and Filip Kostić, and the only Serbian club (along with RSB) to have played against Pele's Santos (which was a 4-4 draw), our home stadium "Čika Dača" a 15.000 seater doesn't even have floodlights so all games must be played during daytime, the club is currently mid table in the Serbian second division.
Not sure if its been covered but maybe worth looking at whats happening in LigaMX right now, the fifth most watched league in the world and fundamental changes happening
You did your homework well. In recent years there is a trend of big local clubs disappearing. For example, in my hometown (Čačak) there was a club, founded in 1926 called Borac. They were a top tier club, and even famously played against Ajax in the Europa League qualifying round, some 15 years ago. Because of their large debt, the club was dismantled a few years ago. Main sponsor said that the citiy officials are too corrupted, taking advantage of the club, and laundering money, and this was the reason they pulled out, and it was a big car company (Škoda). So, after the club was gone for good, they bought a local 4th tier club, and changed its name to Borac 1926, and now are making their way back to the top tier. Something like Parma did, maybe, only Parma's former players didn't go on a hunger strike in front of the city council because they were never payed, and have no legal basis to have their money, because the club that they played for simply doesn't exist on paper anymore. And UEFA's hands are tied. And the mayor won't even see them. And we can't oust the mayor, because elections are brutally fixed in Serbia. Hard times...
Really good! We, (ex-yu people), are so talented for football, but our scouting today is so sad and we are so corrupted. The most talented players still plays in 3trd or 2nd league while some son whose dad is rich or famous playing in Partizan or CZV.
Great map in 3:43 for people who understand German. :D Thank you for this amazing video, I would like to watch more videos about former Yugoslavian football.
Croatia has actually the same problems, our clubs r also run by corrupt ppl like dinamo zagrebs owner mamic sells a player officially for 10 mio. but puts 5 mio. in his pocket while the club thats representing the league is playing in an old stadium which is nearly destroyed. the best thing that could happen is an ex-yu league where the clubs have actual competition not like dinamo that won like 16 out of the 20 seasons :/
I have 33 years and luck to have witnessed 50 years anniversary of OFK.. and also 100 years.. They are not the same club, it's just very popular to claim history for which there are no more witnesses.. BSK and Metalac were active at the same time and no fusion was ever announced. Metalac had a fusion with Sumadija, and its true that some players and board members from BSK switched to OFK, but some also moved to Crvena zvezda, Partizan..etc. So everyone could have the same claim for BSK glory. But regardless of that forgery, OFK is third most loved club in Belgrade, with very rich history i Social Rep. Of Yugoslavia. Therefore, quite a shame for all the troubles they had gotten into. All thanks to the same people who added years to history books..
I know it is not their responsibility, but I'd love to see current players rescuing clubs like these. Kolarov could probably single-handedly save Serbian football.
he couldn't, he has money but not the political connections needed to do so. but if players like kolarov, ivanovic, tadic, etc. worked together they could do something
You did not mention Montenegro as republic in former Yugoslavia, and again, mentioned Kosovo which was part of Serbia in Yugoslavia and is part of Serbia still (no matter what criminal gangs and criminals at the helm of Kosovo claim today). Good video but little more research wouldn't hurt.
Good video, but you made a huge mistake with the states. Its not Kosovo, it Is Kosovo and Metohija and it is a part of Serbia. Secondly you also divided Vojvodina from Serbia which is ridiculous. And third, there Is also a state of Montenegro, which is also actually a serbian state but yeah it is independent from Serbia for now.

Because Kosovo is an independent country. There.
@@Hephaestion96 Yes, but Montenegro too.
@David JR doesn't matter what the UN says.
And Vojvodina is indipendet acordin to the map from this video...
I've trained football at OFK Beograd when I was a kid. That club will always have a special place in my heart. It's so sad what has happend to it.
2:40 actually, the shield of Metalac you put is wrong because it is from another Metalac (from Gornji Milanovac) which will play in Superleague this season and has nohing to do with OFK.
OFK Beograd played in 1963 old cup UEFA semifinals vs Tottenham

Well done man, you have a true worldwide football knowlege .Impressive , keep it up with a good work ;)
Some Serbian teams will be gone, but new ones are born, like TSC in Vojvodina, really good run and professional young team.
Like fresh air in Serbian football, they even got into Europe on their first year in the top Serbian league.
TSC played first season well, but in 2-3 years will be back in their deserved place, just a lucky season
Tsc isn't new team, it's exactly more than 100 years old...
Videos on Valeriy Lobanovski, Ralph Rangnick, Juan Manuel Lillo, Jock Stein, Cesar Luis Menotti, Bilardo or a tactics video on Zdenek Zemen would be amazing if you could do them guys!
Logo of Metalac that was shown in 2:40 has nothing to do with Metalac associated with OFK Belgrade. It is a logo of Metalac from Gornji Milanovac, that played in Serbian 2nd tear in 2019/20 and is now promoted to our top tier.
Could you do a video about the situation in Bulgarian football where there're 2 CSKAs?

Could you make a video on why kepa has been so poor this season for Chelsea?
attitude i would guess , when a player refuses to come off he clearly thinks he is better than the team tactics / managers wishes this would imply he doesnt listen to training advice unless he thinks its beneficial to him which means he has to be truly gifted to be world class and most are not
Probably hasn't actually progressed since coming from bilbao
I am litearally impressed by your video, thanks a lot. There is a few wrong maps there, but since this channel isn't about history or geography, it is ok. However, the only thing I have to correct, sorry for that, is the thing that you have shown actually wrong Metalac. That is the emblem of Metalac from town called Gornji Milanovac, it exists today, even more it will play Serbian Super Liga next season.

Great video. Thanks for talking about this.

A video about NK Olimpija and Milan Mandarič would be interesting, how he forces success without any time for the players and manager to get a proper effect
It probably would be beneficial that some bigger clubs helped a bit financially to keep serbian leagues afloat since serbia produces that much talent.
Hey. In Belgium I saw your video on article. I saw a similar comment from a different country. Is this by your permission. The article company is Sporza
3:36 - 3:45 Sounds like Portugal... but the clubs here sell to the big ones who them sell them to foreign clubs with an higher price.
Yes, I think if they took it, they should have the old shirts and logo as well.
found my new fm save i guess
Make a video on johan cruyff playing styles as a player
The exports per capita seems very wrong. If it's just the number of exports on screen divided by population there's no way Argentina and France export more, but Croatia does
Keep it coming, love these video ideas!
Lol you put logo of FK Metalac from Gornji Milanovac (town in central Serbia), which is playing Superliga now, it's not Metalac you mention in the video.
Very, very good effort, apart from a couple of appalling mistakes with flags, but we'll get over it.
Great effort, in the end!
It is sad that clubs can't be privatised. Jadranska liga could help strenghten all sides and bring back great football to this region. IMO
Does Red Star and Partizan have privatize?
@@geraldclydeabella3350 Nah, they are in the hands of the state. So, when Tadic was president Partizan was strong, now vucic is dictator and Red Star is strong. They are fans of those clubs.
same things with romanian teams...Steaua Bucuresti ,champion of Europe in 1986 ,just promoted now in the third league ,they were in the 4th league
TIFO could you please make a video on the Ballon d'Or vs the FIFA Player of the year award? People always assume the Ballon is the best prize yet they've made so many dumb decisions and throughout history, the FIFA POTY award has been more accurate with their choices, for example:
1996 FIFA POTY - Ronaldo vs 1996 Ballon d'Or - Matthias Sammer
2001 FIFA POTY Luis Figo vs 2001 Ballon d'Or - Micheal Owen
2003 FIFA POTY Zidane vs 2003 Ballon d'Or - Pavel Nedved
2004 FIFA POTY Ronaldinho vs Ballon d'Or Shevchenko
Clearly, just off these examples alone, it's easy to see that the FIFA POTY is more credible and reliable in terms of picking the best player so why do some many people still hold the Ballon d'Or to a higher standard?
Pls CORRECT this map, Kosovo is part of Serbia, officialy by UN resolution of 1244, Kosovo is part of Serbia, that state is recognised in UN.

A dark, dark video. I still find transfer fees more pleasant to look at when they are small.
If im not mistaken it does work this way. Money is divided based on years spent developing at a particular club.
The clubs get a specific % of the transfer fee for every year they developed the player. But the % changes with the age of the player (when he was developed at the former club)
Many clubs in Bulgaria could also disappear in the near future.
1991 uefa champions league final was a match that change serbian football
0:43 It's Montenegro not ,,Kosovo,,
Titos twins - Partizan and Red Star - have a monopoly over Serbian football. Club that you did not mention is Vojvodina- Novi Sad.
So sad that 74yo Petković died in Belgrade after complications from a burst ulcer RIP :(
Really good!
We, (ex-yu people), are so talented for football, but our scouting today is so sad and we are so corrupted. The most talented players still plays in 3trd or 2nd league while some son whose dad is rich or famous playing in Partizan or CZV.
U might wanna check that map of yours, i think u are slightly off 😁😁, beside that, good video
Is anyone going to talk about the map at 3:40 min, that says murder sea instead of northern sea and death sea instead of baltic sea, but in german?
easter eggs
Great map in 3:43 for people who understand German. :D Thank you for this amazing video, I would like to watch more videos about former Yugoslavian football.
Croatia has actually the same problems, our clubs r also run by corrupt ppl like dinamo zagrebs owner mamic sells a player officially for 10 mio. but puts 5 mio. in his pocket while the club thats representing the league is playing in an old stadium which is nearly destroyed. the best thing that could happen is an ex-yu league where the clubs have actual competition not like dinamo that won like 16 out of the 20 seasons :/
This is a brilliant topic, hands down the best channel on UA-cam
Great video, but too many russian background pictures :)
Great video
U split Serbia in 3 parts. Why? You got many things wrong about 92-95 war.
