Just noticed my 10 ga. Butt connections were very hot and the relay itself after a 20 psi pull. I've got a 30 amp circuit breaker in hand. Now would the circuit breaker be better than a 30 amp fuse before the relay and 10 ga. Pump wiring out of that ?
If you've moved your battery to your trunk, you might as well use a relay very close to your pump and use the original cables to trigger it from the original relay at the front. Just eliminate the original relay and crimp the switching wire to the cable leading to the new relay.
Just wired my b230ft Volvo(havent fired it yet) and its very reassuring to see you using a lot of the same practices and Amazon parts parts successfully
If the fuse is at the front of the car on the relay and the power is being pulled from the back of the car at the master kill switch or battery what happens if a power wire gets cut and shirts out? Is there a secondary fuse to protect the wire running from front to back? I’m getting ready to wire my car and I’m not sure how to run the master power cable from the kill switch to the front of the car, and I want it fused so I’m not burning anything down.
Hey man if i could get some advice about mine so i had just got a relay kit that looks like yours it came with a circuit breaker tho and i had everything wired up it worked fine and then all of a sudden went to start it like you said and the relay just clicks when i turn the switch off and so we tried to put the wire that goes to thd fuel pump to a switch cause thats how it was before i got the relay and theres still nothing going to the pump
@@Calvin-Nelson I ordered these came in a nice package box for sure ! It has the connector pig tails but can you get the bigger female ends so you can do your own wire ?
ah yes class with the nelsons
Love it. You should have the title cover that it's not just about the fuel pump system.

Excellent video as always Calvin! I've been digging their 200A relays but those 70's look pretty sweet!

I'm sure a lot of people will find this useful. 👍
Yes. More how tos.
keep them coming.......
I blame relay failures from internal contacts (or points) developing high resistance.
Loving this new tutorial type stuff.
About to rewire a whole car that’s been swapped.
Had a friend that worked for Honeywell, he used to come up with breaker's that would plug in place of the fuse and I thought they were the best.
that sounds like something that was used in aircraft.

We normally don't run a master fuse and just try to be smart about the routing, but they make high amperage breakers if you are looking for that.

Maybe the pump went bad? Hard to say
@@Calvin-Nelson Yea thats another thing we have to look at see if it went out
What Kind of wiring is that? PTFE? FEP?
Oh wiring. I don't know. It's the kind that is oil and gas resistant.
Where do the relays come from?
Amazon
@@Calvin-Nelson Lol. Where on Amazon?
@@riffraff9000 type in "70 amp relay". A whole bunch will pop up.
