I used body suits as a bottom/first layer instead of standard singlets, I couldn’t stand seeing the singlets rolled up when I would change my daughter lol. I liked that they kept the nappy snug too.
The bottom zipper is a life saver!! I loved button ones more than i thought i would. I think it was because i could open just at bottom, like the bottom zip.
My daughter hated being swaddled. From day one she slept with her arms above her head and still does at 9years old 💕 your looking amazing Shannon, hope you are keeping well 💙 xo

Gowns are really helpful.. my son wore gowns when he was a newborn and it helped with the late night changes ☺️

You’ll get the hang of things pretty quickly. With clothing it’s normally 1 more layer to what you’re wearing. They way I’ve dressed my 3 is comfortable, if I would feel uncomfortable wearing something I wouldn’t put it on them. If you’re cold put something similar to what you have on, same with when it’s hot. You got this mumma 💖
I am absolutely OBSESSED that you’re showing a more realistic price range side of baby clothing etc. So much more relatable! We love a bargain!
Use a merino long sleeve bodysuit under everything against his skin during winter , palmy is super cold overnight so 3 layers was the norm for us , merino bodysuit then normal bodysuit then onesie and a WOOLEN hat , no synthetic wool it doesn’t keep them warm the same x
KEEP THE TAGS ON YOUR BABY CLOTHES, and all reciepts! It was so helpful for me when my son was really little, like under 4 months. Its hard to guess what they're going to wear or not wear. I ended up returning some clothes and getting other things that I needed.

I always have dogs and what I did when I have my kids, while I was in the clinic, I send my husband home with the baby used clothes so they get use to the scent.
So when we get home they already were familiar with the baby's scent and was very easy.
You should do a tutorial based on one of those fun colored earrings. Those are absolutely stunning!
I love seeing all the little clothes....so adorable. You will figure it out with dressing a baby - I always found it helpful to remember they are just like us but little....dress them for the season. It is always helpful to have extra blankets and such to keep them warm. Don't stress over it - you and Hamish have this and will be great parents. You will figure it out as you go!
Hey Shannon! Fellow palmy peep here and a mum of two. Congratulations on your lil man! Generally rule of thumb for dressing baby is one extra layer than you. So if your wearing two layers baby would wear three etc. Hope this helps!xx

Cute cute cute. ^.^ although you may be surprised how much stuff you have brought that you do not need. Keep it simple xo :) one thing I do recommend is a baby bath bed that sticks to the bottom of the bath. Stops them sliding and you dont have to to hold them and try to wash them

My son is 9 months old now but he loved the SwaddleMe swaddles! Definitely his favorite before we transitioned him to no swaddling. You can definitely put a little sleep suit under it ☺️
I was like you with the layering! (Also winter baby) had no idea! One day my midwife came over to see how we were going and she was like ok please put more clothes on him… 😂 woollen singlets were my lifesaver for winter ❤️ my grandma and nana knitted me so many! Very lucky ❤️
Hey Shan just an fyi... but baby factory clothes tend to run a little smaller and dont last as long such as mobi minors.. at farmers the little bundle brand & mily milo runs small, teeny weeny is ok but will still not last as long as bonds. Wonderbabies nz or NZ sale has great bonds sales for onezies. Amazon has great things from Carters and anything else you can think of especially baby sleep gowns that are cheaper and come in 3 packs. Wubbanubs are a really cool item too, pacifier with toy attached. Am currently 30wks with my 3rd.
Holy smokes that's lots of clothes. We just had few pants,few shirts and pj's and it was plenty. Just washed often.
Oh my goodness! Those clothes are the cutest! Especially the ones with the panda bears!! I love them!
Also trademe had beautiful soft knitware new and soft by many talented nz knitters. I adore babies in classic knitted cardigans and wrapped on shawls. On and the booties cuttteeeee. I have a boy and I still dolled him up in matinee sets which consist of booties, jacket and bonnet.
In winter you can do singlet, socks, hat, onesie then swaddle. For reference I'm in the same region as you and that's how I've dressed my other 2 babies. On my 3rd baby now 😊

im soooo glad your pup is doing well after his surgery!!! my older dog ( will be 15 in may) is recovering currently from a surgery he had on tues. hes been scary all week till this morning hes finally acting more like himself!! :)
Baby Caterpillar have lovely merino baby clothes. My boy lived in the wee nightgowns in the cooler months. They have a drawstring bottom which makes bum changes super easy and keeps their little feet warm.

I believe in one of your other videos you mentioned he was already measuring on the larger side…my first was almost 10 pounds at birth and never fit into newborn size. Didn’t even fit in the outfit we got for him to come he in the hospital in. We had purchased so many newborn size and he only fit into 0-3 months. Just a little tip 😉 lol also, maybe it was just my two sons but because they were longer at birth the pants with the feet never fit right for them. So happy for you. Loving the baby hauls!!!
Farmers do the BEST merino and often do buy 1 get 1 free or buy 1 get 1 50% off. Love to Dream do amazing swaddles they have summer and winter ones, but quite often you switch between them during any season. You can put them in 1-3 layers of clothing depending on how hot or cold.
Kathmandu has some great Merino 💙. The pandas are adorable. I always remember being told that in summer add one more layer than what you’d wear and in winter add 2 . Worked well for both of mine and they were born in Summer, Autumn
My daughter was a winter baby they are supposed to wear one more layer than you are wearing.
So id put cotton short sleeve body suit then long sleeve merino suit then a zip suit on top and depending where we were she would have a cardi
Honestly newborns grow so fast, they don't need much clothes at all

Domes are better for poonamis ;) otherwise you have to put their legs back in and unzip from the top to get them out, something I didn’t know until I learnt from experience! Haha

Idk if you get best and less in NZ but they have such cheap cute clothes. Also in regards to how much to wear my friend told e always 1 more layer than what your wearing and I never had an issue
You don't need a branded swaddle and you don't need to try out different swaddles. What you need is an experienced midwife who can show you how to properly swaddle your baby with a decent wrap or blanket which you likely will already own. Learn this and you will never look back.
yeah both of my closest friends/family this didnt work haha they hated the swaddles - i'll just donate what baby doesnt like
Not true, different babies like different things and different mums like different things and you don’t know what will suit until you actually use them

Honestly you are not gonna need all them clothes. Also tip you should look at weights on clothes not months they are wayyyyyyyy off babies also don’t like being dressed so just a under shirt mostly or a onesie you think you will dress your baby up you won’t.

My son was and is dressed every day ! Loved putting him in outfits as a tiny one. 🥰 I think it’s just personal preference!
She's bought clothes in varying sizes from newborn - 12 months and beyond... so she will use them.
And as for babies not liking being dressed and just having an undershirt and a onesie, that's just not true.
People live in different climates - weather is a major factor. We live somewhere where you can experience four seasons in one day so baby can need up to three outfit changes a day. Same if you have a baby that's spewy, or having incidences.
More clothes means you're also not washing the same clothes every second day and if she has more babies in the future she can reuse the clothes she has now that are gender neutral.
Let her be excited as a first time Mum and don't tell someone what they do or don't need.
She's a first time mum. It's something you have to learn on your own. Some mothers are actually bothered to dress them up. Priorities lol.
Please be careful with your puffiness, obviously your midwife will be watching you carefully but it can mean something more serious. Talk to your midwife about Preeclampsia, being swollen and this puffy early in your pregnancy isn’t a good sign. I had it with my first I thought it was normal so never said anything so please be careful

Baby factory have great baby clothes and when they are ilder like singlets and jammies. Soo gd. Until they are about 5:)
