Shannon, your house is really coming together beautifully!!! The only concern that I have is with your carpet. You can see creases in it. Has it been stretched already? If it has, it needs to be redone or those creases will get worse over time and your carpet will eventually get lumpy and shift.

Can I ask why you went with putting the kitchen upstairs? I have never seen that done before! Love seeing how proud you are of what you have managed to bring to life for Porter, it is truly humbling 🥰
The kitchen and Master bedroom is surprisingly small for such a big house. Maybe the size is an illusion? I’m building my dream house now (well for now dream) Kids are teen and almost teen. I wanted a huge kitchen so all of us can be in there together and lots of bench space because I have so many appliances. Our bedroom is big enough to act as a retreat aswell, with a bath in my ensuite. And the kids rooms are far away from ours lol Their friends and sleepovers drive us crazy, I wanted them to have their own space, they each have an ensuite and I’m thinking when they’re adults they’ll probably still be at home (houses are so expensive) so it’s private enough for them too. The only thing I missed was a dog bath. I recently watched The Block in Australia and they built dog baths in their laundries, it was such a good idea I wish I’d thought of it. It’s a beautiful home though, I wish you all the best ❤
i think the kitchen is looking bigger now that the cabinetry etc is being put in place, its not HUGE but its good for us :) it has a loooottttt of bench space too. and loads of storage in the island and pantry and above the benches along the wall. same with master bedroom - not huge but still a v good size - we prioritised space in ensuite and walk in wardrobe - didnt need lots of empty space in our bedroom as it would just get filled with mess, i wanted it more minimal with just bed and side tables and tv space - clothes etc going in a diff room lol so it hopefully will stay tidier :) the beauty of individuality haha

And it always changed at different stages. When they were younger we had 2 kids, 2 dogs and a cat on our bed every night! Now they fight over the bathroom so my daughters taken over my ensuite. When I was designing this house I was like nope, they’re getting their own ensuites. My kitchen is probably the size of yours, which I designed when they were babies and thought yeah it’s nice and big, but now it’s just not enough cause everyone is in here at once. Drives me crazy

no way haha its too cold most of the time where we live - even in summer it would take a while for it to heat up, and its not something we would want to spend money on to build/heat/maintain. prefer a spa which we already own and will move to the new place :)
do you mean bc of weather and water damage? we have a cavity so its all done really well and we also used aerated concrete panel underneath for extra protection. its changed lots now

But I don't doubt the plastering industry have upped their game in creating cavities to prevent that. Oh amazing! I work in the insurance industry so I'm extra picky with building materials haha
