    7:32 can i use a flat coil roofing aluminium sheet with a 0.45 thickness
    Because i dont think our home freezer has that kind of thick insulation aluminium that's up to 3mm

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  Місяць тому

      refrigerators and freezers have an evaporator with a lot of cold pipes that covers a large surface of the cold panels, some of them have the cold pipes directly inside the fridge.
      a peltier module has a very small contact surface, compared to the entire fridge, so to conduct the cold temperature to the entire internal radiator, the aluminum panels need to be thicker, otherwise it will be cold only near the peltier contact surface.

    Do you plan on installing fans for circulating the air inside? I mean, it will take some space, unless you use like a PC fan.

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  5 років тому +1

      hi. I will not install a fan inside the fridge. the cold radiator has a big surface, it covers 3 of the 6 sides inside the fridge. there is no need for a fan. the air will get cold, it will go down, warm air will go up, there will be an automatic circuit of air, until all the air is cold.

    Hi we are making a fridge like this for our senior project and we are adding wheels Handel and solar panel on it. What are the heat calculations for your fridge if you have any? also what is your opinion on our project? do you think that us adding innovations like this to the fridge will further improve it? And finally do you think it´ll be possible to add a solar panel to it?

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 роки тому +1

      hi. I don't have the heat calculations, because I improvised with what I could find at home. it's important to use the 12703 peltier units. if you want to add solar panel, it's very difficult. because you need a solar panel that could output minimum 12V and 6A for a few hours a day. this means that the panel's peak power should be double, so you need a solar panel with a peak power of 144W, or even more powerful. if you make the fridge bigger, you need more peltier modules, so even more power...

    • @juanito345
      @juanito345 3 роки тому

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 роки тому +1

      yes. but you need to calculate everything carefully. it will also help if you give it an even thicker thermal insulation, probably 2cm of extruded polystyrene will be better.

    So, I'm kinda stupid and couldn't be sure my watt-hour calculations were right. Do you have any idea of how much the mini-fridge will consume per hour?

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 роки тому

      hi. most of the time both of the Peltier modules will be powered, in this time it will use 6A - about 75% of the time. and when the temperature goes low enough, one of the peltier modules will be switched off - about 25% of the time, so it will use 3A. the average is 5.25A. 12V*5.25A=63W from the power supply. But the PSU doesn't have a 100% efficiency, most will have 80% or more. so 63W/0.8eff=78.75W from the mains. the anual consumption will be 78.75W*24h*365d=690KWh. so it's very inefficient :))

  • @osmanysotelo

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  4 роки тому

      I suggest you use the 3A peltier module. it's using less current -> it will create less heat -> the cooling will be better -> the module will be more efficient.

    I was thinking about a propane fridge modified to work with induction coil that instead of an open flame works with 5V or 12v inductor coil making it more efficient secure and portable but i am unable to make such device because my economy is not letting me ( a jobless man living in a banana country can't do much ) , the other thing i want to build is HHO stove with a PC Power Supply Unit because ( 12 volts 13amps are enough ) for Electrolysis with stainless steel electrodes and Sodium bicarbonate in water ( will not corrode electrodes ) and who better to do those than you to make the projects in video for all of us. I have more ideas of cool devices that i can't make all 5v or 12v appliances for home to go off-grid solar powered and i don't care if you build them instead of me my friend
