    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628 4 роки тому +11

      Yeah. I made a diy speaker box from an aluminum soda can and some pillow stuffing, and sealed it with hot glue to the point of no air leaks. This is an acoustic suspension design, and the pillow stuffing makes those sound better. Used a typical small 10 watt full range speaker driver. (Not a woofer, nor a tweeter, but can do both.), which I had mounted on the end you usually drink from, which was removed with a can opener. I was surprised when it actually sounded good, not unlike this. Literally took me an hour and a spare speaker driver to make.

    Absolutely outstanding work. I've looked at various diagrams without properly understanding it. Now I completely get it.Thank you Sorin!
    Modern manufacturing techniques mean even complex things can be manufactured extremely cheaply. Nothing here is hard to make in a modern factory, all the parts are so simple that Sorin was able to make a passable version out of literally nothing. I fully appreciate that speaker manufacturers use high grade materials to make really high performing drivers but, at its core, it's a very simple collection of parts. There must be plenty of profit to be made when selling a few of these drivers in a nicely built cabinet and charging £1k, 10k or even in excess of £100k in many cases.
    Anyway, Bravo Sir!

    Speakers are rated in reactance resistance. So 5.6 ohms is generally 8 ohms on a speaker. Also if you put a metal ring or sleeve around the outside of the coil that would greatly increase the sensitivity as this would pull the magnetic field across the coil. Good job.

    Some tips for speaker making:
    1. If stifer the speaker the more power it needs to get the same loudnes as a non stiff speaker
    2. Higher the speaker impedance harder to drive it to the max volume
    3. If your voice coil has smaler air gaph beneth the magnet, the biger will be the sensiviti (80dB

    Cool!!! it is necessary to make measurements with a "Measuring microphone"... I always thought it was difficult... especially (to choose an annular ferrite magnet, upper flange, thickness, inner diameter of the upper flange)... And with a neodymium core magnet, everything is simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!
