May be a stupid question. Can we consider Gilt funds for short term of 2-3 years? As you said we may not see a sharp fall in NAV,can we exit if we see a slight curve of downtrend in NAV after 1 year of investing?

I'm looking to invest in a gilt fund. What things should be considered while choosing between a gilt ETF like LTGILT bees (expense ratio 0.1%) or some gilt fund like SBI magnum gilt fund where the fund manager is free to invest in any duration G-securities? Expense ratio of SBI gilt fund is 0.47% (direct, growth). Thanks in advance 🙏

Hi, you should have an equity and debt allocation that you are comfortable with (say 50:50 or 60:40). Index will do for the equity component. Sukanya Samriddhi has a lock in period of 18 to 21 years, so choose it if it that's ok with you. Some other debt instrument is also ok.
