  • Apologies there are a couple of blank spaces in this video - please just fast forward through them - they weren't deliberate :)

Thank you for this clear video wich realy helped me fixing my Husqvarna 500 computer. I bought this machine 34 years ago and sewed so many many things on it. Two years ago he got the first dripp of oil eversince I bought the machine. Now the power connection goes on and off each time, during stitching. I am going to try to fix it myself. I've never done it before, so I think I'll manage thanks to your video. Time will tell. Kind regards Madeleine

Thanks for the video! My wife has returned from the sewing store with here Designer 1 and the tech has said the power supply has failed and that was the end of it. After watching your video I think I will pull it out and poke around a bit. I'm not a tech guy but from what I see there does not seem to be too much with the power supply that is unfixable.
    Cheers.

i have a fancy Pfaff sewing machine which seems to have a loose connection at the power supply pins. It flickers when I plug the 2 pin cable into it - sometimes stays on and the machine works perfectly, sometimes not. Your video has inspired me to have a fiddle at it. I shall buy some Araldite tomorrow...

My problem turned out to be v simple: a duff power cable. Should’ve checked it first before opening up the Pfaff power supply!

hello thanks for this video my designer1 has been very loved for 11years and has exactly the same problem. when i opened mine the capacitor looks fine no signs of swelling ...should i replace it anyway? the board and pins look exactly the same condition as the ones in your video. So glad i saw this video maybe i can bring it back to life again.

It's been a while, I don't remember replacing the capacitor - I had to watch that part of the video again :) If your capacitor isn't swollen then it's probably ok. But they are not very expensive or hard to change, so "while you are there" maybe? Up to you.

Very cool video...thank you. Btw, the light should come on when the machine starts. It may just be loose or the bulb has failed.

Excellent job! Can I ask if you used a non-polarized cable as I have lost my polarized one and want to know if I can just use a standard non- polorized C7 cable?

I'm afraid I don't know for sure. I would be very very surprised if it made a difference which pin was live and which was neutral.

Thanks for doing this. That machine cost as much as a motorcycle when it was new, does that count? I have the model with slightly fewer bells and whistles and it's a fantastic sewing machine but Husqvarna no longer makes parts for it. I will miss it terribly when it goes.

My problem with my Designer I is that while sewing or embroidering the machine reverts back to the LOGO. It doesn't go off just reverts back. I am using a surge protector. thanks.
