This was the first online tournament I played. Only got 1 win but really good intro and everyone was very friendly. Coming to cedh from competitive 60 card formats (modern/pioneer)
Thank you for sharing so honesty your punt. As a far less experienced (and less skilled) player, I really appreciate you being open about it. I get discouraged sometimes but hearing some of the best players talk about this stuff is super encouraging.
As someone who has played the deck a very long time. A lot of the points he made are really valid. The deck is super fun and can really reward you if you know your list. Also curious if you thought about snap in the deck as another way to win with e wit and blind obedience? Adding that layer in has helped me a ton with post combat wins. Looking forward to seeing more derevi tournaments from ya!
If you're going to do Deadeye loops. the UU/UX filter lands are a must. They can convert infinite GW into Blue. EX: bloom tender now can be any color with derevi+Deadeye. The fastest wincon loop with derevi however is Preston/Felidar that you can assemble very easily with BirthingPod/Prime Speaker Vannifar (can win t3-5 consistently when goldfishing). Lastly the ultimate way to win with Derevi is White Plume Adventurer. It can ETB into life loss/draw and is awesome utility all around. It also has the perk of being non-human so it can be found via kinnan. White Plume frees up a lot of slots most wincons would need 2-3 for.
I was so happy when I saw EDH Top 16 and you placed with Derevi! an all time favorite deck of mine. I wanted to ask if you have considered Scheming Fence from new capenna? Great early game tempo piece to give you a dork while shutting off opponents sol rings and moxs. You can choose your own mana vault and grim monolith to get tap 3 with no downside. Because it is an ETB not a cast trigger, you can call ranger captain to shut someone down and hold your own copy up. late game it has a ceiling of stealing a sisay to combo with bloom tender and faeburrow, steal a kinnan or basalt monolith if you already have kinnan, an enemy one ring. Najeela is a great steal. has been overperforming for me in my games. congrats on top 16!
My favorite combo here is clone plus chromatic orrery. Clone your derevi untapping the orrery, and saccing the commander to legend rule. You can then flash out derevi infinite times then draw your deck with orrery activations. The combo is super condensed and redundant and i think makes deadeye less desirable over another clone since he usually needs orrery anyway to convert to a win becase he awkwardly makes inf non-blue so it is hard to convert to a win. Food for thought.
I swear just when I think I’m doing something revolutionary you swoop in! First I had a Malcolm keddis seen you built already. Then tivit, I was building a thrasios yoshimaru deck similar to this build! Lets some of us cook my guy!!!??
Derevi these days is closer and closer to feel like a "Secret commander tribe deck" since you have more and more legendary cards that win the game with extra untaps that is actually hilarious. Og Sisay, Shorikai, Emiel, the one ring... you can even clone najeela lol
Round 2 Ob here, it was definitely a heck of a game! I was definitely sad that I didn't have Ob out for a combat-centric game. It was funny, as we moved to Magda's last end step of the game, I remember saying "This is where Ian bounces the Roiling Vortex." I guess I wasn't wrong lol!
Have you thought about halo fountain? I have gone won the game with it. Also, it’s super nice to untap a mana dork or anything with a tap ability. I play it even when I don’t have the win. If the remove it oh well. I also feel like charismatic conquerer would be a good add here.
another missing card that works with current list is Reality Shift. I took a similar list to "Knights" and won a game with emiel bounce loops with eternal witness and this. super niche, requiring at least 1 creature on the field of your opponents but will have them draw at 0 when you pass the turn.
Nice, man! I like keeping decks to 3 colors and this looks pretty fun. I miss playing 20+ creatures lol Edit: Gonna at least goldfish this. Having Derevi instead of boring ol' Thrasios makes this immensely more appealing. Maybe this will become my grindy deck of choice...
If my derevi focused on the super combo lines and one ring instead of just insane amounts of tokens, this would be the list. Now that I know about the one ring I think I might make a slight pivot.
@ComedIan MTG Great vid/ deck. I've been playing a deck like this for a while now but don't do CEDH/ Tournaments any more. What are your thoughts on swapping Eternal Witness for Timeless Witness? It has the same effect but at 4 cmc allowing you to find it with Derevi + Pod/ Neoform. It also has Eternalize which adds a very slight advantage if you have no recursion. I have been liking it a lot, but I'm not sure if the 1 cmc difference makes a difference in CEDH.
Congrats on the placement! Would you be willing to do a video on how to get set up for an online tournament? I have tried to figure it out but got lost lol
Had a conversation with Mons on discord a few weeks ago and he convinced me to start brewing Darevi, I will say that I was currently less than thirty cards different than your list, and by less I mean 24 cards different…
congrats, how can i talk to you about doing these online tournaments? been looking for tournaments to play online, much love! thanks for the awesome videos
Congrats on another successful event! I have a suggestion for your derevi deck and wanted to know your thoughts. Did you consider Acquire as basically a second copy of Tezzeret to get TOR?
Postcombat win can just be Emiel + Derevi + Kinnan for infinite mana, then flicker Witness to return any spell and win with Blind Obedience. You're already playing all of these cards I think.
some games end in a draw because time in the match runs out with no winner. other games are intentionally drawn by all 4 participant to avoid a loss, get a break, and guarantee a finish result. They only happen in the last round or 2 of an event depending on the size of it.
With 60-80 minute rounds and Stax or midrange decks, games can go long and draw. The last 4 round tournament I did, my friend got two draws . I've never seen intentional draws
@@ComedIanMTG An easy formula for draws off the ring is n(n+1)/2, where n is number of activations. It gives you a series that goes 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, etc for cards drawn overall from the ring! Doing those numbers reminds me just how broken the One Ring is.

Was it proxy friendly?

Please do a primer or a deck tech on this so I can understand it’s wincons better

Congrats on the t16! Love these vids. This deck looks wild
wild it is 😅
Congratulations! Absolutely love these recap videos.

Very cool. I’ve been wanting a turbo one ring Derevi list for weeks. I brewed something similar but like your list better. Way to brew
Super inspiring list! We all know that Ian can top16 with a ham sandwich, but sometimes that sammy turns out to be a gourmet cuban! Incredible!

Really considering building this as my next deck. It looks like a lot of fun to play and a lot of great cards in the list.
This man can’t be stopped ❤❤ Congrats on another top

Factorial is only multiplication, you meant series at 2:31. 10 factorial is 3628800, if only the one ring was that broken...
oops lol
Was going to say the same thing =) it is always hard to point things out like that without coming across like a pedant, though =(
Congrats on top 16 have you seen SCG-con Pittsburg that had some super interesting decks in top 16 especially top 4

This is awesome i love it. I enjoy playing an Emiel deck but not having blue is really hard

Looks awesome! But i'm a little confused on the wincons, can someone explain?

Love this deck. Looks similar to my pet Arixmethes deck. Thought about running lotus field?
One thing that I've been thinking with the one ring is running scheming fence maybe really good in derevi
This is actually really compelling
I know this vid is a bit old but any thoughts on Nadu + Shaman/Nomads en kor in Derevi?
**Pulls off mask from Scooby-Doo Villain** gasp Sissay?! it was you all along. 😢
Congrats Ian! Bird Wizard for the win!!!

Is scorching ruins not worth it? Would think it would work better in this version of the deck having so many rocks.
You might have mentioned this and I missed it but what would you cut for Angel's Grace? Awesome deck btw!
Any idea?
@@fungalgg2831 Personally, I would take out ephemerate, BUT I am nowhere near this level of deck building so idk.

Ah nevermind you mention it later in the video 😂
As someone who has played Derevi for about 3 years, this list is fantastic. Would a copy of white plume adventurer be a solid win con as well?
I could definitely get behind that :)
So extort works off Emiel activations?
The secret of cEDH is how fun it is 😊
What did you think of korvold winning the tournament? Will people start respecting keeping their dockside count in check lol?
I think I talk about it a bit in the breakdown that will come later this week :)
The deck is decent but way worse of dockside count is low
good for u buddy! Gonna do any more list requests?
always open to it
is there a discord these tournaments are played in? I would love to join in some cEDH tournaments
discord.gg/4KjCPt8b
I have a question kutzil it's only for the silence??
Yeah 100% but cards like that are insanely good right now
Nice job
What is it with drawing all the time on cEDH? Can somebody explain that to me? Feels like collusion. like what's the upside downside here?
some games end in a draw because time in the match runs out with no winner. other games are intentionally drawn by all 4 participant to avoid a loss, get a break, and guarantee a finish result. They only happen in the last round or 2 of an event depending on the size of it.

Part of it is the current tournament system isn't designed for multiplayer
Living plane + (OG) Eleanor Norn … that’s how my derevi wins
❤❤❤ Nice!
deck looks fun haha
If ephemerate is so meh maybe that should become your desired angel's grace.
10 factorial is 3.6m. that is the wrong function. You need the gauss formular to calculate ring draws.
oh dang lol
@@ComedIanMTG An easy formula for draws off the ring is n(n+1)/2, where n is number of activations. It gives you a series that goes 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, etc for cards drawn overall from the ring!

Its not 10 factorial its 10 summation. Sorry math teacher couldnt help it.
