Great recipe and very simple too. My philosophy on rubs is that however you want to go about it, if you wouldn’t eat the rub by itself, then you shouldn’t put it on your food.
@@GrillaGrills Zip Sauce is one of those mysteries that make Detroit famous for its food and legendary restaurateurs. The actual recipe for Zip Sauce is a closely guarded secret. But there are some universal ingredients shared among food experts. Most say Zip Sauce is a mix of butter, beef base, Worcestershire sauce, sometimes mustard and a blend of spices including garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper. The history of Zip Sauce starts with Mario Lelli, who owned and operated a high-end Italian restaurant along Woodward Avenue that opened in 1939. Lelli’s restaurant was a hot spot where northern Italian recipes reigned supreme. But what made it a household name was its steaks and famous Zip Sauce. People came from all over to eat at Lelli’s and savor the Zip Sauce. Its popularity grew to the point where other restaurants started making their own version. I just thought that as a Michigan Chef you might have had your own version that you could share with us Grilla Foodies.
Thanks Chuck, I've lived in Michigan for nearly 20-years and this is definitely news to me. (I'm not the Chef btw, just the social media guy.) I'll run it by Drew, see if we can find some, and have him try to make up a clone! We're doing something similar with the Chik-Fil-A sauce right now too. Really appreciate the in-depth explanation Chuck!
@@GrillaGrills Sorry, I thought you were Chef Drew. I've become a bit fan of your video's, recipes, and the products your company make. I just added a Primate to compliment my SilverBac. Another suggestion would be to see Chef Drew smoke a Chuck Roast.

Is it equal parts pepper to salt or 2 to 1
Approximately 2:1 with the larger portion being black pepper.
Can you do easy Carolina-style vinegar based sauce for pork?
Not a bad idea! I'll see if I can convince Drew to do this one!
Read Holy smoke book. Tons of good Carolina recipes
@@IzzyEatz I will thanks!! And I just bought the Kindle version to read on my iPad,
Thanks for the recipe. A nice Jerk recipe would be appreciated. Thanks
How about a raspberry chipotle sauce for pork and chicken
Sounds interesting for sure!
Can you do a "Detroit Zip Sauce"?
What's that? Got a link to an explanation?

They took the recipe down, way to go grilla.
Someday I’ll reveal my Secret Carolina Sauce that’s phenomenal for dipping, topping and basting. Gonna take some convincing though, 😁
