Thanks for sharing this with us. To me it really seems like the hardest part of flying is understanding people on the radio when they talk so fast, especially when they're giving you a long list of instructions to read back to them.
I never understood this. Everything in aviation is so supersafe and redundant, and then there's this ridiculously noisy radio where you really have a hard time imagining what could have been said.
A lot of what they’re saying is standard stuff that they say every time. The pilots know what they’re saying and are simply expecting it. Like knowing the script while someone else says it. Lots of safety and regulations talk. Like a if every time you pull into a grocery store parking lot you radio in and say “approaching east entrance 20mi per hour, brakes working, elevation fine, no visual on incoming traffic, gas and engines fine, approaching the same parking spot you told me to approach 30 mins ago”. Then say that every time over and over.
Listening to pilots simply talk is a treat. Watching one operate and fly like I’m sitting next to them is just awesome. Really blows my mind all the coordination that goes on with one plane and various airspace’s let alone the thousands of flights happening all over at the same time
The visual of city lights and especially large airport lights at night is one of my favorite things about flying. Thanks as always for the excellent video.
Every time I see a night flight I always think of the pilots who flew the 101st into Normandy. The only thing they had was a compass to keep them on track. Brave heroes!
It's only cool if you think it's cool. As a teenage pilot in 1976 I had the privilege, as a paying passenger, to sit in the cockpit from 5 min after takeoff from Iceland to 30 min till landing at JFK. Afternoon flight. Pilot, copilot, engineer, and me. That's the day I changed career paths, never a regrett. But aviation must be in the DNA, my son is a helicopter pilot. It's up to you to do your thing, be you, be safe.
I like how they talked through the radio to ensure everything was right to take-off and always greet each other with "good evening" and, "have a great night". You don't feel lonely at all!
To realize that mankind has went from a horse and buggy to flying an extremely sophisticated machine in addition to manufacturing all the thousands of components to make this machine operate so smoothly is astonishing
“Oh! Greased it!“ 😂😂😂 Love night flying! You don’t have to cut out the middle of the flight. I think I speak on behalf of all of your subscribers in saying we would be very happy to see the entire flight no matter how long the video is!😃👍🏻📽🛩
Middle of flights is time to relax a tad. Not completely, but a tad. And you don't want hard evidence out there that some hard-nosed government type might jump on.
@gcam1611 Basically it's a landing so smooth, you don't even realize you've landed. Arguments will ensue over whether this is a good thing or bad thing. LOL
I really like that, to save time, you communicate all of the information that you know ATC is gonna ask for at once, and in turn it seems like he's doing the same and telling you all the info you need to know all in one transmission, instead of lots and lots broken up.
Another great flight! I love the way you recite every item on a checklist even though there may be no one listening. You're my instructor (sim only) my role model. Be safe.
Night flights are hypnotizing to me, I’m tall so it’s hard for me to sleep on planes but something about flying at night is magic. Props to you I would fall asleep.
Hi Max thank you so much for these videos! They’ve helped me so much in my road to getting over my fear of flying. Seeing you in complete control and the whole process of each flight is so reassuring and makes me feel much more comfortable being on a plane. Can’t thank you enough!
All the procedure a pilot has to know is mind boggling. I would not be smart enough to speak properly on the radio. I'm binge watching right now, great job!
I have been watching alot of aviation vlogs, and it's awesome see this man talk all commands as if there was a copilot, I guess it's just a reflex after a long time of doing the same thing . I love the video makes me feel like a virtual pilot.
Wow, that user interface of computers on pedestal is really cool thing! I love how responsible it looks like and how many features are which simplify routine tasks. Nice!
Dude this is the first video of yours I've seen, and I have to say, seriously great quality video. The go pro on the flex mount above the instruments is so on point. Also you buttered the bread so smooth. Huge respect dude. Liked and subscribed 👍🏻
Another great flight Max. I always enjoy your professionalism both as a pilot and in your microphone handling technique. It's always great to ride along in the right seat with you. Wishing safe flights always.
Always the epitimy of professionalism, Max, I so enjoy watching your videos, you are defrinately an inspiration to any aspiring pilots. I can tell you worked hard to get threre. Well done.
I am enjoying your videos as well as what went wrong videos. Your level of professionalism and care would make me feel comfortable taking a nap in cabin...
Ditto what Marshall wrote. Instead of a boring car ride home, Max does a night flight, with beautiful instruments in a super nice jet!. How you can remember everything the ATC tells you is beyond me! U Da Man!
Nice to see you getting some night time in the log book...cameras were fine...appreciate the different perspective and a night landing that was excellent...well done as always!
Love the night flight! I “felt” the nighttime difference too. I love your play by play too - even the battery start up explanation. (I’m not a pilot - but wanted to be when I was a kid but my eye sight is terrible). Thank you for doing what you do.
O yes, it is. Not only for you. When I did my first night flying lessons shortly after my ppl, my landings were , how to put it mildly, rather rough. No sense of relative height, „VFR“ very hard and only possible in very familiar regions along major roads, but it was kind of a preparation training for late landings after a VFR flight. It is awkward not to do this in IFR..
Love your and Premiere 1 videos. I’m not a pilot but it seems to me your plane gets moving fast and up in the air quickly on takeoff. Enjoyed the night flight.
I did a tour of the Portland ATC with my instructor early in my flight training 33 years ago. It was fascinating, I think people would like to see it if they would allow it these days. I know I’d like to see how things look in comparison to back then.
I go back 41 years. Did night flights w instructor from PNE, to PHL & back, also to an airfield w/o a tower somewhere in PA. But the most awesome one was piloting at night an A-36 Bonanza from IND to PHL flying over Pittsburgh in a clear night.
What an awesome skill to have. I remember messing around with MS Flight Simulator when I was young and one day I decided to do it right and go to MS "Ground School". Well....let's just say it wasn't very fun and it was really tough to master all of the technical stuff...I gave up and went back to messing around. I respect a commercial pilot more than I respect a surgeon (and I really respect surgeons)...
I don't fly and never have but watching you eases my fear (maybe not enough to fly) but if I was famous, I'd definitely want someone like you at the wheel for sure. You have confidence, and control over what you're doing. Excellent 👌

Thanks Rob! Definitely cool seeing the night sky and the environment around. Wish the cameras picked more of it up
Every time I see a night flight I always think of the pilots who flew the 101st into Normandy. The only thing they had was a compass to keep them on track. Brave heroes!
I flew the c-47 over the Amazon area. All we had was bad NDBs and a faithful compass. A few times the wind threw us off. What a three years adventure.
Yeah, you can only imagine what they would think of all latest Nav technology. Two extreme ends of the scale.

Ye it really is. Imagine if we could like teleport a roman or an old greek to modern times. They would be astonished by what we were capable of.
Thank you for being one of the FEW pilot UA-camrs to show use of checklist in every phase of flight. The use of checklist cannot be overstated.
Damn that is so much power especially when flying so light without any passengers. It took off like a fighter jet. Amazing.
