Loved all the EGGS! The more embellishments the better they looked. We made a couple of them for the Christmas tree back in the day and had one hollowed out with angel hair in it. It had Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus in it. Our family dog licked out Baby Jesus. We put him back in. We probably just used old Elmers Glue.
Those 'eggs' are amazing! I'm 78 but don't remember having in our family. I do remember seeing small baskets with plastic flowers & animals glued inside. I never made any but think that is darling for kids at Easter. You are so lucky to have inherited these special items. Put them on display and enjoy every bit of them. Thanks for sharing!!!! I love your videos and look forward to them!
Thank you so much for your kind words. They really are a treasure to me. I found an easter basket to put my Easter Egg tree in. Let's keep our fingers crossed that my cats do not find it remotely interesting!
I, too, have embroidered pillowcases. I have one on the pillow I use at my Moms house and several in my linen closet here at home. They were all done by my paternal grandmother and are close to, if not older than 50 year old. They are on their way to becoming antiques. My grandma was so crafty. She knit, crocheted, embroidered and quilted. My dad was super with building or making anything, too. I think that’s where my crafting came from.
I'm sure you're right! Being a maker is definitely in your blood. It's so rewarding and relaxing. I consider myself lucky to have such an outlet. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Your "favourite project" is gorgeous... I love what you've stitched! Oh.. Dreaming of Mums... so beautiful! So fun to see your vintage finishes! OMG the easter egg collection is amazing! I have never seen anything like it!
I grew up and still live in northeast ,ohio. You brought back so many memories for me today from the lilac bush twigs in the house for Easter and the eggs to the pillowcases ,which were my first craft stitching I did at 10 yrs old. I Loved the Thomas kincade kits:) and how special to have some of Mom 's stitching. Thanks for sharing all of it.
Some borders I do first. On a big piece if there is a mistake you can move or enlarge the border to hide the miscounting. Going through your Moms things brought back so many memories of my Grandmother. I was the only girl in almost 50 years and she taught me everything she knew about sewing and crafts. I'm 70 & still using her craft supplies. More than I can use in my lifetime. I take to schools, churches, senior centers, neighbors, etc. I remember making the eggs. It was a craft. I wish I had some from back in the day. I still make Christmas ornaments with beads, ribbon, sequins, etc. I embroidered many pillow cases (and kitchen towells). Loved them. Thank you so much for sharing your memories ❤
Thank you so much for sharing your memories with me. It sounds like you were a very lucky child, too! We were truly blessed to have come from talented families and crafty Grannies!
I always admire your baps BUT THOSE EGGS! My grandmother taught me to embroider on stamped pillow cases just like those, memories. I hope you will make an Eastery tree, those eggs are wonderful. 🪡🧵☮️🐣
Thank you! I think I'll hang the broken eggs first, just to see if it grabs the attention of my cats. I'm hoping their being older and lazy will now be in my favor! Stay tuned!
Hey Heidi, Great video! Your stitching is beautiful! How wonderful you have some awesome things that will be from your younger years to remember those years by! My heart hurts for you because I don’t know how you got through this video with no tears! I shed a few for you! I remember the eggs but I only have one that belonged to my neighbor who was so talented in cross stitching and making the eggs! See has been dead for years but I miss her and my Mom everyday! So happy the house is almost done and that you have sold it! It makes it a tad easier when going through their things has been done! Now you can just have good memories!
Thank you so much for your kindness. I really appreciate your thoughts and your tears! It's wonderful to have the support from this community to help me through all of this. ❤️
Wow, your eggs brought back memories.....I grew up in Buffalo New York and at Easter time we would go to the Polish Market and they always had decorated eggs and, of course the butter lambs. Great memories...Thank you for sharing.
Valentiney IS word! Along with Eastery, Christmasy and Halloweenie 😂 Boarders and I have not been on the best of terms the last month or so ☠️ so glad to see another video from you. Have a blessed month and happy stitching!
I LOVED seeing all the haul from your mom’s. Those decorated eggs…absolute works of art. I can’t even fathom the level of concentration and care that had to be taken while decorating them…absolutely beautiful.
Thank you! Aren't they amazing. I haven't seen them in decades, and certainly not with the appreciative eye I have for them now! I would have smashed them all to smithereens before finishing even one of these. And, seriously, what kind of glue was used?! There is no craft glue out there today that would have lasted 50+ years without being yellow or crumbling.
Thank you for sharing your mom's stash and aunt's eggs. Very special mementos. Lovelovelove the colors in Dreaming of Mums. I've been eyeing that for a long time for myself, so I'm eager to see how yours progresses. I also appreciated seeing the closeups of the Cottage Garden Threads since I've never stitched with those, or even seen them in person. There are so many amazing market releases this year! I've ordered a few things, but I'm trying to be good and think about the things I already own that I want to finish in my lifetime. Take care.
I sometimes feel bad for buying more goodies. But then I look at all the fun I've had going through my Mom's stuff. I wouldn't want my kids to not have the same fun! hehehehe
Heidi, I enjoyed seeing the Easter eggs! I've always wanted to do an egg tree. I enjoy your channel. I grew up in Mentor, OH and enjoy hearing about your OH trips. Thank You.
Fantastic video, as usual❤ Going thru your mom’s stitchy stuff was reminiscent of me 6 years ago. Our mothers were very similar-Ohio and Michigan moms share something 🙂but those eggs! Wow! What a treasure!
Oh my goodness you have some beautiful precious things from your mom and aunt. I'd definitely invest in ornament boxes to keep your eggs safe. I was excited to see that you started the Mums chart. I'm definitely going to do it because orange is one of my favorite colors and my mom really wasn't a flower person but she adored mums. It's the one flower we had abundance of when I was growing up. Great video- really enjoyed. I ordered tge Funky Chickens and the Squirrel. What's on the bottom of chickens is what we say in my house alot lol😅
The funky chickens were adorable! I can't wait to see people finish those and show us. Thanks for the tip about an ornament box! Perfect!! I really do love the mum charr. It's been fun to work on, so far! Thank you for watching and spending time with me!
Dang, girl! You have some BIG A$$ projects! 🤣🤣🤣 They are beautiful. I especially like the one by Rosewood Manor (Inspiration). Stunning! Can’t wait to follow your progress on these WIPs. You are so blessed to have these items of your mom’s. ❤❤ Take care and happy stitching.
@@pottymouthstitcher preach it girl! I love all your BIG projects. They are beautiful. AND you do seem to make progress on them. Love watching your videos.
I just completed Sweetheart Hill yesterday. I had started it August 2023 for my husband and my anniversary start. After a month I put it down. Picked it back up February 1 of this year since I kinda consider February the month of love lol. It turned out so pretty but there is definitely a lot of stitching in this piece. And of course I added our initials and date of our wedding. 8/13/1979.
Great Video, Heidi! I enjoyed seeing your projects - all beyond my patience, however, I can appreciate how pretty they are and that you are working on them. So glad you shared more of you mom's crafty things. The Simple Gifts bell pull is just gorgeous. If you haven't watched Two Tall Stitchers flosstube, you should. Carol (the mom) showed her finished Simple Gifts several videos ago. Stunning. And I have the P. Buckley Moss church cross stitch hanging in my living room. I didn't cross stitch that one, but I did stitch The Solitary Skater by P Buckly Moss which hangs beside the church stitch. You have great memories - enjoy them. Hugs❤
Thank you so much, Janey!! I do watch Two Tall Stitchers, so I will definitely go back to look for her finish of that piece. It is really cute. And a piece that is so close to being finished just begs to get a little love it needs for completion. Thank you for the tip! My Aunt Mary had the solitary skater piece, it really is beautiful. I always loved it.
Those eggs are fabulous 💖 You have inspired me to work on the easy part of the boarder for Let Love Reign to make sure it will match. I do not want to be close to done and have a bad surprise for 😂
Enjoyed seeing your pretty stitching as well as the fabulous finds from your mother's house. Being an old stitcher, I do remember all the things you showed today.:) Back in the day, I stitched mostly Prairie Schooler and I sure regret getting rid of my card stock charts that they did at the time I was stitching. It is always interesting to see how our craft has changed and continues to change.( Hurray for no back stitching!!) Happy Stitching and Roll Tide.:)
Another great visit Heidi! Loved seeing your WIPs and your new found treasures amongst your mom's stash. I feel your pain about pieces with borders .. I know I'm usually holding my breath as I complete the border. Hoping against hope that everything matches up correctly! Loved seeing your Egg collection .. I do remember blowing out eggs and then dying them back when we were younger. 😊 Looking foward to several pieces each from Primrose Cottage as well as Erin Elizabeth Designs as well as some other designers. They're all so cute! I don't envy any of the buyers this year at Market trying to get everything they wanted. Have a feeling several will sell out! Until next time .. Happy Stitching!
Thank you, Kathy! Since it's usually the border of a piece that lures me in, I guess it's only right that I agonize over it! It's the first big challenge to overcome! Enjoy your Market treasures!
Hello from Tennessee! If you're not wanting to keep the Thomas Kincaid stitching let me know. My husband lost his mom a long time ago and that was her favorite artist. I would love to surprise him with a stitched Thomas Kincaid! The embroidery pillow case pieces... If you'll give it a try.... It's so enjoyable! If I can get my act together and finally join the flosstube crew... I'll be showing some embroidery items that I've made and it might spark your interest. It's a lovely, stress-free hobby. No math required. 🤪. Your stitching was lovely to see and the eggs were just amazing! The new Tiny Town patterns and Blue Flower patterns are what I'm grabbing up first... Then I'm sure there will be Samplers and etc from the new releases later. Love you lots!
You should definitely jump into the Flosstube Family! I've had a couple others ask about the TK pieces. We will see if we can come up with a solution to make everyone happy! Do I already follow you on IG?
Oh, those brightly dyed teeny strawflowers! I remember those being stuck into little cacti in the dime store as if the cactus was flowering. We made eggs too, but nothing as elaborate as your aunt did. My Aunt Norma made a hole in each end of the egg with a large needle. I recall my cousins and I then putting our mouths on one end and blowing the insides out into a bowl with our ears popping. It took lung power! Scrambled eggs were for dinner that night! :D The shells we decorated using old Crayola crayons and a candle. We'd melt the crayon using the flame and drip the wax onto each pointy end of an egg to make colorful masterpieces. Oh sure, we'd get a little burned with hot wax at times, but one must suffer for art's sake! We also stuck various sequins all over Styrofoam eggs with teeny pins. We got those at the local hobby shop. I still have some my Mom and I made together at Grandma's dining room table. Fun memories!
The wax art sounds like it would be very neat to try...and a lot of fun to make such a mess! Those were the days! Thanks for sharing your memories. It sounds like you had an awesome childhood, too. ❤️
Wonderful floss tube! The Santa cross stitch I have that stitched. Still work on the backstitching. Got to get her back out and finish. Loved seeing your mother’s Stitches and eggs. I am from Cincinnati Ohio but live in Texas now! ❤
Theeggs are beautiful. So happy you have rescued them and appreciate all the hard work it took. I agree it would be fabulous if we took the pride in our homes and entertaining that women did back in the day. But most of them did not work outside home. I am also fi Islington my mothers proje ts mostly embroidery and cross het
Thank you for sharing brings back memories for sure, I just found not long ago a Thomas Kinkade kit my sister in law bought me in the 90's. My mother in law made painted eggs I'm sad the did not survive moving. You have gorgeous project's. I preordered for the first time Stacy Nash Caroline's sewing bag and Kathy Barrick cookie cutters #2, and Faith by Summerhouse stitch works.
Those eggs are so sweet! What I can’t figure out is how she cut out the ovals without the whole thing cracking. What a treasure. I used to do embroidered pillowcases before I re-found cross stitch. I have two sets on my guest bed right now. Enjoyed your video.
I can only think the ribbon, etc hid the imperfections. But I am with you, I've no idea how she had the patience for these. That generation was truly made of much tougher stuff!
The Amish project is from Told In A Garden, another design line of Marilyn Leavitt imblum. I stitched that too. The eggs are beautiful so much attention to detail! Amazing!!!!
I just loved the Thomas Kincaid fabric. I would use it to make a couple of wip bags. Your eggs are so special. I lost my mother in April 2021. She sewed all of me and my sisters clothes until I was old enough to sew my own. I got her old Bernina record 830 sewing machine. My sister made it sound like I got a really expensive item. I had to burst her bubble. I paid for the maintenance for my mom’s machine for the past 30 years as she would not. My mom didn’t do any handwork to speak of. I did find some pillow cases that look like yours. Printed and no stitching on them. My mom had dementia for the last 6 years of her life badly. She bought fabric and then cut it up. My sister was like look at all the fabric you got. I have tried to use what mom left behind but you can only sew so much out of scraps. I should have taken away her scissors and rotary cutter. I couldn’t do it as she got so much pleasure out of petting her fabric and cutting it up. She tried to sew and make receiving blankets and was not successful on her own but I would sit with her and guide her. Unfortunately we had to move from Idaho my home state to N Dakota two years before mom passed away. When I would go back she wanted to sew so badly. My mother encouraged my sewing and I learned a lot from her. I am so thankful for what she taught me. I have made a living teaching sewing and machine embroidery. I also sold machines and taught classes on the use case for sewing machines. I just started back into cross stitch during Covid. We had moved as I told you and I found a kit while I was packing for the move. So glad I did get back into it. I stitched one of those carousel horses up for my other sister. Enjoy the stuff from your mom and the great memories. What state do you live in ?
I really like the pattern called 324 by Works by ABC. I think part of why I like it is that it calls for small snippets of 324 flosses. It’s just such a colossal requirement that I have to have it. I have a full set of flosses by DMC so I’ll be snipping off a little bit from plenty of my permanent floss stash, otherwise I’d be telling myself when he** freezes over is when I could purchase and plan that stitch.
Oh my goodness! You hit the jackpot! Your mom has a great stash! You do too! I watched your kit parade video and I want so many of the things you have. I love Thomas Kinkade pictures and paintings. I would love to get the ones you have. I’d even buy them from you. ❤I’ll hav two see if I can find you on IG. I am not big on the social medias, but I do have them, I just don’t use them much anymore.
What a wonderful video !! So sweet for you to share all of your mother's projects. You also were cracking me up in regards to what hangs on the wall never gets changed. Same here. 😊 Loved seeing all of her egg creations. Wow. Very detailed work. Thank You for sharing. ❤
Thank you! I enjoy other people's decorations...bc I'm too lazy to go into much detail! Maybe that will change when I get some of my stitching finished. Now I need to find homes for the pieces I brought home.
Hey Heidi! Boy were there a lot of great new market charts. My favorites were those stinking cute Stacey Nash animals…that little Hazel the squirrel….❤ Pre-ordered the Annie Beez green pears and Down in the Valley plus too many other things! Condolences on the colonoscopy….😂 Ive heard the prep has improved and yep….love me that magic drug too. I remember ladies making the Easter eggs …too fiddly for me (says the cross stitcher with a 300,000 stitch HAED in progress 😅) Your eggs are very pretty and what a wonderful remembrance. Your timing was perfect….needed a distraction as we had to put down one of our little shih tzus today. Thanks for another great video! Lori❤
Oooh, I'm so sorry about your furbaby. I'm glad I could be of some distraction/comfort. Lord, 300K stitches? Bless you! I'm sure it's amazing though. So many new charts to choose from! It'l be like Christmas when my pre-orders roll in and I see what I ordered! lol
@@pottymouthstitcher I am excited to see my preorders too! Can’t wait to find out what I ordered twice because there is always at least one pattern! 🤣🤣🤣
I just discovered your channel. I would love to start keeping track of my projects and am curious where you found the project cards. If that Thomas Kinkade is like one I did it’s actually an embellished kit, where you only stitch certain parts of it. They’re beautiful finished. Is possible be interested in doing another one.
I had my first colonoscopy done this week too and I have to agree not that bad. Love the “milk of amnesia” sleepy med they give too. Never slept that good in my life lol. Love all your videos! Where did you find the project tracker with dates on it?
@@pottymouthstitcher ... not soon, but some day. I am on a Quaker roll right now. I'll ride that out and see where I go next. I have a ton of Blackbird patterns I want to start, and some fabulous WIPs to finish!!

Thank you, Connie! (That was my Mom's name, too!) You definitely need to finih the Santas piece! It's adorable and timeless!
Thanks for sharing the eggs!
My pleasure 😊
Theeggs are beautiful. So happy you have rescued them and appreciate all the hard work it took. I agree it would be fabulous if we took the pride in our homes and entertaining that women did back in the day. But most of them did not work outside home. I am also fi Islington my mothers proje ts mostly embroidery and cross het
Thank you so much!
New sub here. I LOVE your videos and stitching. Thanks for sharing your progress.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found me!
Oh no! I'm sorry the eggs didn't survive. I was truly amazed more of these weren't beyond recognition.
Amazing!!!!
Thanks for the info! I'll have to write that down for future reference. It's a very cute piece.
Good idea about the project bags!
@@pottymouthstitcher if you need them sewn up for you let me know.
We are headed East sometime in the next couple of months.
I just looked up the 324 pattern. It's beautiful!! It reminds me of Cardinal Points, with the rainbow coloring.
Thank you so much!! I'll catch up with you soon about the TK pieces!
Rosewood Manor Spring Quaker!!!
@lorielle1395 🤣 I probably did too! If so, y'all will benefit!
Check out the globetrotting stitcher she just finished the one you tucked away. It is so pretty.
I definitely will!
I just discovered your channel. I would love to start keeping track of my projects and am curious where you found the project cards.
If that Thomas Kinkade is like one I did it’s actually an embellished kit, where you only stitch certain parts of it. They’re beautiful finished. Is possible be interested in doing another one.
I actually made the cards with the basic info and goal lines myself. The tracking cards for the dates were from SWard on Etsy.
💜☮️
I like your project cards..can you tell us where to get them!!
Thank you! I made them myself. I have the file on my work computer, but I can send it to you!

🥰🥰🥰
I had my first colonoscopy done this week too and I have to agree not that bad. Love the “milk of amnesia” sleepy med they give too. Never slept that good in my life lol. Love all your videos! Where did you find the project tracker with dates on it?
Thank you so much! I found the dated ones on Etsy in a shop called "SWardDesigns"
Heidi, are you using Called for or DMC for Consider The Lilies? I love all of your WIPs!!!!
I am using the called for floss for the Lilies. Thank you so much for watching! Are you starting the Lilies soon?
@@pottymouthstitcher ... not soon, but some day. I am on a Quaker roll right now. I'll ride that out and see where I go next. I have a ton of Blackbird patterns I want to start, and some fabulous WIPs to finish!!
@margaretyoder3007 oooh, Blackbird! So many wonderful options there
