    Our thanks to US Navy Lieutenant Commander Aaron "Vern" Vernallis for taking the time to show us the F/A-18 flight clothing and equipment discussed in the interview.
    Clearly the lighting, sound, even acting are not Oscar-worthy, but--hey--now you know what the flight gear looks like!

    What a great breakdown of the flight clothing! Do you slide your watch outside of the (flight suit or gloves) when you're flying?

    • @FighterPilotPodcast
      @FighterPilotPodcast  6 років тому +16

      I personally did not--I just left it under my flight suit sleeve and pulled the sleeve back briefly whenever I needed to look (there is also a time reading on the HUD).

    • @Cherishthegoodtimes
      @Cherishthegoodtimes 6 років тому +10

      Of course, didn't even pass my mind that you could read time off the HUD. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work! I'll be applying in December either Navy or Air force and the podcast is very helpful and motivating.

      My nephew is a naval aviator. He was a varsity sports (tennis) team leader, involved in community service projects, maintain 3.89 GPA, straight A’s in math, physics, chemistry, and computer subjects. No criminal records, 21/20 vision, within the BMI (Aka, not fat), workout 3 tribes in the gym. He was not good enough for Naval Academy, but he got full Naval Scholarships and Presidential Scholarships to Embry-Riddle Aeronuatical University, majoring in Aerospace Engineering.
      Highly recommend that you maintain above 3.5 GPA, be a sports team leader in high-school, vision 22/20 or better, not fat (ie, 15 pull-ups, 50 sit-ups in one go), no criminal records, and demostrate high aptitude for Math, Physics, Chemistry, and computer. If you want to go to Naval Academy, you have to be better than this.
