We had a Starling that the Mom kept kicking out of the nest. So we kept him, named him Floyd, learned how to feed the baby. It was a beautiful experience. I took him back and forth with me to work each day while he was still a baby. One day he said Mommy....we thought we were hearing things. Then he started saying Floyd and many other words. My husband taught him to whistle "Dixie" I taught him "Yankee Doodle". He had a very large cage with the door left open most of the time. We had a large container filled with water, he would get into it and had fun playing while he bathed♥ We purchased a small cage too, because we took him with us when we went on vacations etc. Floyd loved to ride in the back seat looking out the window just singing, whistling, and talking watching out the window. Some people that passed by noticed him and would wave etc. We looked up Sstarlings to learn that they are members of the Mynah Bird family...it all made sense then. He lived for about 15years. It was very difficult when he passed. He had so much personality and showed affection toward us. I still miss him so much, and it has bee many years ago♥♥♥
What a wonderful relationship♥️ Mine didn't have a chance really, to learn a lot of sounds or words. I raised one from no feathers to full feathers. I truly wish he'd of survived. I underestimated his jumping abilities as he wasn't flying yet. He jumped out of his box/best during the night (probably looking for me) and was injured. Possibly my cat or dog hurt him. I'll never know for sure. But I cried for so long after. They imprint you as their mum. And boy do they love you like one ..and NEED you like one🙃 I documented every week with photos and updates. I have a hard time looking back at them. I miss him still, my sweet boy ♥️
The Mouth is mesmerizing. His ability to make different simultaneously is mind blowing. Thank you for sharing your talented, smart and sweet bird with us ❤️
You were not kidding...astounding ability. I was mesmerized and visually riveted by the throat movements. It reminded me of the Lyre bird with its incredible mimicry. I had no idea of the starlings ability to sing, just of their flying patterns and iridescent feathers. Wow...totally awesome. Thanks for sharing this special bird with us.
And this is only half of it. Starlings have a language, but far most of it is beyond what a human can hear. What they come together every autumn, in large flocks filling multiple trees they literally have a meeting where they talk with each other. We are not the only species who can talk, also not the only intelligent species. It is flabbergasting what you can learn a crow, and what a crow can learn himself. Starlings can learn human talk like parrots can.
Yes, it is very humbling to know we are not the masters of speech, but a little starling can outdo human speech and with no lips, face, palate, teeth use. Just a voice box. Astounding! fyi - TEACH a crow, not LEARN a crow.
So beautiful, and very funny too....had me laughing here and there! What a beautiful song bird! Thank you for sharing your little feather-covered treasure with the world! I'm checking in from White Mountains of Arizona! Shalom! 💜🕊💜✡️✝️💜🕊💜🏞
That is an excellent repertoire, even for a starling. Funny to hear some human speech phrases too. Makes me start pondering if their repertoire is important to them the same way as our vocabulary is to us humans. I also wonder if it depends on their surroundings and how they live, if birds develop their repertoire depending on what is required for their individual form of life.
They were designed as biological drones to record almost all sounds to probe new planets life. The speech you heard is not crystal clear because the human was far away when the biorecorder was triggered.
It looks like we have the same exact cage! I wish I could order another one but they've been out of stock for well over a year, maybe two. Sawyer is listening very intently to his song😂 He loves it!
What a joy to see such a happy well loved bird. So adorable. I love this bird! It soothes my soul to be drenched in his song. Thank you for being so kind and loving. Hw would not be singing like this if there wasn't deep trust and love for you. He adores you.
I heard him make a robin’s song several times and a thrush at least once. Other bird sounds that I can’t name. Incredible mimic. I kinda feel guilty for hating starlings as much as I do. Oh well.
That’s a lovely birb you have 🥰 I have a nest somewhere by the kitchen window. I see them flying with stuffing for the nest. I don’t want to climb up there and spook them. Then I was sitting in my Jeep with the window down in my driveway, I get a very close visit from a hummingbird yesterday, I heard him before I saw him, just hovering, watching me. Then today I saw the nest, right above my Jeep right outside my window. 2 tiny little eggs! 🪺. Aww! They’re so adorable! I have no idea what to listen for. The starlings are fairly vocal. I’m not sure what to expect with the hummingbirds. And just think, our fence was blown down this winter with tornadoes, the fence guy pulled out his chainsaw to cut my trees down. They’re dead! I said NO WAY DUDE! It’s WINTER! These trees are FINE, and by Spring they’ll be full of life. Oh they sure are! I love my beautiful trees and who knows how many nests! It’s glorious! ✨🪺🥰🌳🏡🌴✨
If you listen carefully, you can hear the audio volume on this video resonate when he hits certain frequencies. Pretty cool, plus he's pretty adorable looking.
Starlings run in flocks and when eating seeds or grains will post guards that can have the whole flock in the air within seconds. They are very intelligent and aggressive.
Tengo el don de interpretar lenguas verneculas ,y esa criaturita le dice ,cuánta ama a su hermana mayor y que en su corazón no anida sino ella .....y por su puesto que le añade una bella y delicada sonata para ese gran momento

You were meant to be together ❤
Nous comprenons ,nous sommes passes par la aussi .Je retiens encore mes larmes d y penser en vous lisant .Nous ne pouvons pas les oublier .
The Mouth is mesmerizing. His ability to make different simultaneously is mind blowing. Thank you for sharing your talented, smart and sweet bird with us ❤️
Ability to voice simultaneous sounds is the main difference between a larynx (mammal) and a syrinx (avian)
Jeez! It's as if a whole sound effects library is played in sequence! 😂😂😂

Beautiful song by this little fella. Made me smile 😊
Michael Winslow would be impressed. The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects.
They do 90% of the sounds totally within the voice box! That’s so amazing! We need massive facial muscles and lips to do that
Lol gigglesnort
Is that why these young women are getting these ridiculous lip fillers lol, they look like Donald Duck. 😂

I find it very, very soothing to listen to your bird. Nature is amazing!
Those babies are extremely beautiful in the sunlight
I really don't know what to say. Except that I am in awe. So so enjoyable to listen to. Thank you so much for sharing your little friend's song.
My parakeets, hearing this performance of your Starling, responded to it with their own chirps!
Awe cute :)
There also distance with the dog barks. Incredible facsimile of not only the basic sound, but how the environment modifies it.
Beautiful, simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing!❤
he's singing his little heart out just for you.

I bet he's making sounds that are outside human hearing. Amazing!
They make me think of porcupines with those quills. Amazing repertoire.

I love when the neck feathers puff up.
I love his noisy passing engine sound
It’s almost as if he’s memorized so, so many sounds, that if he doesn’t let them all out, his head will explode
My cats are mad at me for listening to this at high volume, but I love it
It amazes me that no matter how down I might be, this little ones songs always make my heart smile. Thank you!💜💜💜
I could watch and listen to him ALL day. Have shared him with so many people!! Love that Mouth ♡

Que lindo pássaro e que repertório invejável!
Incredible. The dog barks etcetera are amazing because the perspective of them, eg where they were / distance at the time is THERE aswell.

Are they pests or something?
Well, El Lobo....perhaps your hatred of Starlings will dilute, and slowly bloom into love for them. Ya never know! 🎀💖🦜💖🎀
Man I miss dubstep
I love the way their throat feathers move around when they're making these sounds it's intense
Very impressive and interesting declaration. That bird means business.
Nevjerovatno.
Mora da ste veliki ljubitelji ptica.
Za ovo postići treba puno ljubavi i pažnje prema ptici.
Da, u pravu si! Ptica je obožava i sretna je u njenom društvu. To možete vidjeti. On pjeva za nju.
