Daniel, with BuyActivatedCharcoal.com, demonstrates how Activated Charcoal Powder is used in the food industry to remove unwanted colors from some foods, such as grape juice.
I would like to point out that activated charcoal is not sentient. It cannot distinguish between chemicals that we label as 'good' or 'bad'. It simply has a very large and porous surface area that traps larger molecules which color molecules tend to be.
I make my own extract and I have been looking for a way to get the color out of this extract because it would be much better if it weren't so dark and I'm going to try this and please God say you are the miracle I've been looking for
yeah its because of adsorption and not absorption, the surface molecules tends to attract the surrounding molecules in order to balance the unequal tension from the bulk inside.🙂
Thank you so much for sharing this video, I will be trying this product out. I am working on a project where I am wanting to turn tea brown water into a clear solution.
@@skeets6060 probably doesn't take out the invisible marker in the fuel, though once HMRC see clear, they may not be arsed to do the full titration test.
After the charcoal has removed as much as you want mix in an equal amount of diatamaceous earth. Mix well for some time. Filtering should be much easier and far more complete.
I used powdered and granulated hardwood charcoal. I stirred it into 12oz of a cocktail I was making. After stirring it up for a minute or so and letting it sit for a couple hours, I then strained it through a 4 micron filter (scientific paper). The liquid that came through was still black in color (instead of what it started at which was red) and tastes NOTHING like what it was supposed to. I'm looking to color clarify an alcoholic cocktail. What did I do wrong? How was grape juice so easy to clarify with coffee filters but mine so difficult with scientific filters?@@CharcoalHouse
I'm just curious and I know that this is somewhat off-topic but Charcoal or charred food is carcinogenic and has the potential of causing cancer when consumed. Is it really safe to consume activated charcoal?
I have big qty of Thinner which is having little reddish color due to rust in tin. How can i clean this by using activated charcoal. How much is needed for processing about 5000Ltrs. Where I can buy this at best price. Your valuable advice is highly appreciated thanks
Hi. I tried to filter some gin that I'd made that was slightly brown using a new water filter that I'd bought. I ran water through the filter first 5 times then tried the gin. However it made the gin much more blackly brown. Then I came across this UA-cam and bought some charcoal that was designed for spirits. It wasn't the but liquidy though. However it made it black in the test I did. I then used a coffee filter and it didn't work. Eventually I tried using more charcoal and it came out clear. So I tried with about 500ml of gin. It seemed to come clear but then suddenly went black and got progressively worse through the coffee filter. What's happening? Coffee filter paper not fine enough? Wrong charcoal? What?
My son is doing this as a science project. Its not working. We bought charcoal house activated charcoal powder, welches 100% grape juice and 2 coffee filters. Pleae advise.
It all depends on the application. For color removal as in this video, you will know when capacity has been reached when the color removal process slows to a halt.
We have a separate video on this. However, the short answer is there are two processes to activate charcoal. One is steam activation, and the other is via chemicals. Attempting this at home will likely lead to partial activation, and a subpar carbon. Buying it from a reputable company that can give you exact measurements as it pertains to surface area and purity would be cheaper and you'd be guaranteed a quality product.

Activated charcoal? I heard that bamboo activated charcoal is better for air purifying then the others types. do you know if this is true?

How is yours project going on did you get clear water let me know
Dos it works on red dye diesel
Good evening Dan, will this product remove chlorophyll from tinctures? Thank you, have a great night.
Ermmm..the one you are filtering is still being filtered as quite cloudy ??
You hid it with the other glass.
Will that work on diesel fuel?
Yes lol
Absolutely. Activated Charcoal can be used for diesel clarification. It also works for clarifying heating oils.
@@CharcoalHouse Soooo that would mean someone could take offroad diesel clean it and not worry about getting dipped?

@@skeets6060 no need to worry,
I use activated charcoal quit often. Good stuff.
agreed.
But madam after mixing charcoal filtering taking so much of time is there any easy way to filter
hello. what type of paper filter is that bc i havent been able to filter the carbon 😢

Hello, This was just two coffee filters stacked. You can use scientific filters with a mesh size of 400 or smaller, too!
For color removal, we suggest using a hardwood or coal based activated carbon powder. For this demonstration, I used our Hardwood Neutral pH powder.

Do you internationally? In Portugal you don't find activated charcoal.
can i use activated charcoal to remove color of oil ?
Could it take the color out of a coffee or tea ????
sure, if you like to do that, but better use bleaching earth, it can easily take the nature pigment out. we are manufacture for bleaching earth
Excellent

Hi, can we clean the fryer oil with this?
better use bleaching earth, if you need, send mail to tybentonite@gmail.com

wrong filter paper
Yeah you need a micron filter , preferably a butcher funnel with a vaccum
Do you know if this would work to remove red dye from red diesel
Mr Timm, actually the bleaching earth has more good performance

The grape juice has no artificial flavors or colors
How many times can you use the same charcoal ?

what do you use for your filter?

Charcoal House thanks so much for the context! Also, do you need to use a specific size charcoal? Is it ok for use in food?

what's the filter's micron size you used to filter your activated charcoal product?

Sir, is the blue color of kerosene oil removed with charcoal powder ?? I mean, can we change the blue color of kerosene to white?
hi, friend, actually you can just use bleaching clay , it will make the used kerosene to be more clear and trasparent and white
if you want more details, send email to tybentonite@gmail.com
What to add in charcoal so as it can be active charcoal

It doesn't work
Hello Dan , do you know if this wound work with lugol's iodine ? You see I make my own lugol's but I can't fined out how to make white iodine .
Unfortunately, no. Activated charcoal will adsorb the iodine, rendering it useless.
