Meet the villagers who’ve taken over an old town hall
Danny and Sophie explore inside the once derelict Georgian mansion, which is now home to businesses, charities…. And a drag queen’s wardrobe!
Preservation Society Limited bought this beautiful Georgian mansion, Grade 2 listed, from Rotherham Council. Built in 1770, it was the town hall for Wath Upon Dearne from 1892 until 1974 and was declared redundant in 2014. Together with the charity Wath Hall Limited, their six-year campaign to secure it for the people of Wath succeeded in the Hall’s 250th anniversary year, a remarkable achievement!

Champion! Absolutely bang on with regard to the importance of preserving these wonderful buildings, and this lovely Georgian manor house is no exception. I see from your film that some of the interiors, particularly upstairs are still in close to the original condition, which is great.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Yorkshire, and all concerned for this, I've never spent any time in Wath, so it's nice to have an insight.
I think Athena handled waking up in that spooky corner much better than I would have done.. 🌟👍

Haworth is a lovely place in west Yorkshire alot of history there especially the bronte sisters give it a go alot of people visit Haworth they also do a 40s weekend and 60s in the summer which attracts people from all over and is very busy

Get to bread throwing on may day its brill all community gets together they have a festival in middle of wath with stalls and morris men nip in spoons then up at 12 to church for bread cakes been lobbed its a good experience it happens every year
