I’m a pediatric occupational therapist and that super man pose is actually a reflex that stays with newborns until 5-7 months old and is called the asymmetrical tonic neck reflex (ATNR). When a baby turns their head to one side, the arm and leg on that side will extend and the other arm will flex and make that very cute super hero pose! It will eventually help with his postural control and stability and his overall fine and gross motor skills 😊
I agree, I was a childcare provider and used to see this during nap time 😴 (A 9 month old and 2 year old. I thought it was cute ☺️ and hilarious 😂 at the same time. 😂🤣
I'm a physical therapist assistant and was coming to the comments to say this too..also girl let Romeo pick somethings for the baby, the gold tones don't matter...
Large kitchen tables remind me so much of growing up in Italy and Germany where the table was the centre of everything. I did my homework there, my grandmother did her ironing and baking on it, we had meals and gatherings there. A kitchen island is just not the same. When I got my first flat I made sure the kitchen was big enough for a large old table😍 I guess all I wanted to say is that I love your table 😂
I was thinking that turn your onesie, one side out and so your cape onto the collar and then the fabric that you have from the pocket that you removed could you not cut it in a strip and sew it over top of maybe that wouldn’t irritate his skin as much. But that is gonna look adorable.
Yes! You could start a once a month sewing inspiration video! It’s something everybody should do! Repurpose and renew clothing before it ends up at the landfill. Loved this whole video content today! Thank you.
I have modified a lot of recipes to reduce sweetness. I took my childhood chocolate chip cookie recipe and subbed coconut sugar and reduced by 1/3 and switched to dark chocolate and we love them. Also you can look for recipes from European bakers as traditionally American desserts are CONSIDERABLY sweeter then other countries
Love creating costumes. Growing up my mom always made our costumes. For my daughter we used a combination of thrifted clothing, fabric and my moms sewing. My favourite was a witch costume made from a 1960s crushed velvet mini dress. It was the perfect full length for a 7 year old.
Oh my, are you going to have fun making all his future Halloween costumes. I can see your creativity has just been unleashed! That costume is adorable!
Your videos make me so happy. Ill move out from my college dorm soon and plan to make my little studio a cozy home, just like you teach. You're my role model, I'm tearing up a bit. Thank you so much for showing such a beautiful, peacrful and creativr mindset.
if you're new to sewing and want to try the gathering technique that macenna demonstrated, lowering the tension dial will help make the gathering part easier. just remember to put the tension back up to what it was before you put everything away or else you'll forget when you start your next project.
A second stitch line at the edge inside the collar of the onesie would have made the gather lie flat , keeping the cape out of the way so you don’t sew it. A zigzag stitch if you can’t sew close enough
Macenna, that was the cutest little costume! I know Super Cade will save the day and steal hearts of everyone he meets. For your sewing container you can use a tackle box. It has compartments that are adjustable, and you can lock it up so tiny fingers won't get pricked on pins if it's out being used. I like my tackle box and it keeps everything together yet separated.
Better post some pics or videos with your whole family in costume on here, for us fogeys who don't go anywhere near Instagram! Even a short would do it! Pretty please? 😘
I cringed when you used the same scissors for cutting fabric and paper. When I learned to sew (in the60s) we were told NEVER to do that or we would dull our sewing scissors. To this day, I follow this same rule.
Super Cade!! ❤ The arm motion is an instinct response that infants have, known as the “Moro reflex”. It is a built in safety mechanism in case a baby falls it spreads their weight/impact 🤓❤️
Or else just slide the parchment paper off the cookie sheet onto the counter. The cookies will firm up! Oh, use a food servers that look like mini ice cream scoops to scoop cookies or candy balls. They have all different sizes: 1Tablespoon size, 2T, 3T and others sizes. They are great for measuring out cookie dough and all sorts of foods.
😊 There is something, for some time now, that I noticed. Cade is wearing less clothing compared to what you and Romeo are wearing. Rule of thumb is.... if you're dressed comfortably for warm or cooler days baby should be as well. Just saying. Please don't take offense. You're wonderful parents and Cade is one lucky boy. Love you and all you do. I never miss an episode. Happy Halloween ❤
Babys are people and people have different temperature preferences. Our son never slept in a sleep sack, always rather wanted to be cold at night than warm, was sweating and turning red much quicker than we did.
I think Cade is probably dressed appropriately for the weather. I say this because MaCenna tends to wear heavy clothes in warm temperatures, and I think Romeo wears a heavier top and shorts.😂
Oh! Reminds me when my son at 3 ish wanted to be a butterfly… I too have the too much gene. It had cardboard cut out wings with painted monarch colors and of course I devised a way to attach them to his arms so they flapped. lol
Homemade costumes are the best! My son is the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and my daughter is a baby bat. All thrifted and items we already had/borrowed!
When making gathers like that, put 2 rows of long stitches’ maybe even 3 rows of stitches to make gathers. Makes the gathers a lot more easier, even , and pretty. Been sewing since I was 5 and I’m 73 years old now. I also had a girl. I made almost all her clothes, including prom dresses. I loved making Halloween costumes. Very cute costume. He’s going to look darling.
I made my kids Halloween costumes every year. I loved it. So unique. One yr we all dressed up as a banana split... Each child had a color... chocolate, strawberry, van...brown syrupy looking hats w a red cheery on top... Then we dressed as banana's... adorable!!!
Cade is such a lucky little boy. He has such a talented mom who will be making his Halloween costumes for years to come! Super Cade is absolutely adorable! 🎃👻🎃
Ahahahaha! Little does she know, she'll soon know more than she ever wanted to know about alllllll the super heroes! And toy swords, and minecraft, and Legos. 😂❤😂
I have an 8 month old. She is wearing 18 month clothes. Very healthy, good eater. She is my second. My first followed the aging/sizes perfectly. I love the costume!
My son was a bat for his first Halloween 17 years ago! Black onesie, black trousers, faux fur circle for his tummy and an old black t-shirt of his dad's cut into bat wing shape and pinned along arms and shoulders. May have made ears, can't remember!
This costume is so cute! If you don’t want it to bother him, you could sew the collar right sides together around the collar with a top-stitch. Hope this helps! I love it ❤️
Do you make any holiday traditional food? We do a tamale day where we make 60+ dozen for the big family dinner, and then the rest are split up between everyone that helped make them ❤ Thank you for creating a safe, artistic and inspiring community to be apart of ❤
that sounds amazing! now that we have Cade and I'm getting more into cooking i want to continue some of the recipes my grandmother and mom made when i was growing up to continue the traditions!
@xomacennavlogs You can start new traditions too! When my brother had his first kid, my Mom created a new tradition that every Christmas we'd all wear matching PJs with a theme. We've had Dragon Ball Z, Harry Potter, Tiny tunes etc... Your family can keep old traditions while also adding new ones ❤️
The costume is so cute! I’m decorating for Halloween today and carving pumpkins with my kids. We usually decorate the day before and take it all down the day after. Nobody here in the uk generally does Halloween for more than a few days beforehand.
You might have been lucky with the red. My daughter is half Filipino/English. I put her in a yellow onesie as the baby. The health visitor went into a panic as the colour against her skin made her look jaundice. 22 years later still never wears yellow.
I think of you attached buttons onto the onsie or cape, and a thing the button/snap closure on to then you can remove it and reuse the onesie for other things 😊
You could Velcro a cape to Kensley’s collar or harness with a slit for her leash to feed through. You can do that for Cade’s belt too so it’s easy to remove if a hinderance.
I think you can fix the cape to the collar with the ribbon you use to do napkin holders. If you sew it on the inside of the onesie like a rectangle over the seam to the cape ❤
This is so extra lol my son is almost two, and I haven’t done a Halloween costume for him at all because he doesn’t know what’s happening. 😂 Not hating, it’s just making me giggle. True MaCenna fashion 😂❤
You might try sewing the cape with the right side towards the neck of the onesie so that when you turn it over the edge will be under the cape and may help it stand out a bit and also be softer at the neckline. Just reverse it from the way you have it now and the edge will be under the cape. Also I always take cookies out of the oven before they get brown around the edges. If you wait until then they will be overcooked and hard. It’s great to see you all enjoying the Halloween 👻 season 🎃. All the first times are so fun!
Since you've become so "pioneer woman" with baking you might consider making your own pure vanilla extract. It only needs the cheapest, highest proof vodka you can find and Madagascar vanilla beans (which can find online). It takes 3 months to "brew" and the older it gets the better it is. I made it last October for Christmas gifts and my family and friends LOVED it - they thought I was either the smartest person on earth of Martha Stewart. I use it all the time. It's been a year now since I made it and it's so good that I could drink it.
We normally stay home and hand out candy and chili, however this year we are headed to canton first Monday trade days. I did pack candy in motorhome incase kids in canton trick or treat. Cade is growing so fast. Enjoy his first Halloween 🎃

lol, yes, my baby does the same pose! It’s too cute
And the pose is also a reminder that all babies are super heroes and heroines!
I'm an OTA and was just coming here to say this!
I'm a physical therapist assistant and was coming to the comments to say this too..also girl let Romeo pick somethings for the baby, the gold tones don't matter...

Totally agree!
Sweet comment.
The little pants need to go under the onesie to solve the belt problem and I think all the super heroes wear tights :)
I agree! All super hero’s wear their underwear on the outside! Lol
My thoughts as well!!
Was just going to say the same thing. The trousers deffo need to go under the onesie.
I was thinking that turn your onesie, one side out and so your cape onto the collar and then the fabric that you have from the pocket that you removed could you not cut it in a strip and sew it over top of maybe that wouldn’t irritate his skin as much. But that is gonna look adorable.
Maybe a black legging under the costume 😊😊
My son's first Halloween was "Super-Aidan" with a red onesie and gold cape 24 years ago : ) Great idea!!!
omg!!!
Omg I have a super Aiden!!😂

I always love seeing baby's first halloween costumes, Super Cade is such a cute idea 😭❤️

It’s fun listening to him. He sounds like a happy baby. Hugs MaCenna❤
Oh my, are you going to have fun making all his future Halloween costumes. I can see your creativity has just been unleashed! That costume is adorable!
Can't wait to see how Cades costume comes out. He is going to look so cute!! Kinsley, too

Soooooo adorable!!!.Super Cade and his hero dog Kensley!!!.I cannot wait to see the family in costume!!🩷
I’m I crazy or did MaCenna just dress her son like El Chapulín Colorado! 😂😂😂 I’m DYING!!!
HAHAHA I didn't even think of this!!!!
I was literally thinking the SAMEEEE 😂❤️
😂😂😂😂❤
I thought so too from the thumbnail🤣🤣🤣🤣I was like how does she know him???
Super Cade is such a cute idea for your family halloween costume! I love that Kinsley is his side kick
When making gathers I was taught to use two threads in case one breaks.
For Kinsley you can sew a cape to a harness!
The spooky music and creaking in this video was perfect! 👌
I love hearing cade making his little noises. So cute, I love the costumes 😍
I Love homemade Costumes 🎉 you’re such a good Mamma!! I always loved making costumes for my kids. It was so fun for me 😊
I cannot wait to see Cade in his costume! You’re having so much fun being a Mom, I knew you’d be great at it! Great vlog MaCenna!! 🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wonderful ideas! Can’t wait to see Cade and Kinley dressed up. And mom and dad too!
The pants can go under the onesie!
Love your videos, sending you love , light and happiness from Ireland 🇮🇪, where it's 2am, just fed my baba . ❤️
thank you so much!
OMG! Super Cade is going to be the cutest super hero out there! Can't wait to see all of your costumes! 🧡🧡

Oatmeal cookies are always soft when they come out of the oven. Let them cool on pan and as they get cooler, they will firm up.

I think maybe you’re reading too much into it and babies overheat easily. Given that SoCal is still very warm I’d say he’s dressed appropriately 😊
I LOVE when I forget it’s MaCenna day and so I am pleasantly surprised to see her!! 😂❤
Oh! Reminds me when my son at 3 ish wanted to be a butterfly… I too have the too much gene. It had cardboard cut out wings with painted monarch colors and of course I devised a way to attach them to his arms so they flapped. lol

Macenna, what can’t you do?!?! Everything always turns out so perfect 💕
She amazes me!
Gorgeous then and now! Thanks for sharing.
There is double sided sticky tape for fabric to keep the fabric folded and it’s soft so it wouldn’t irritate baby’s skin hopefully.
Red and gold .....IRONMAN!!!!
I made my kids Halloween costumes every year. I loved it. So unique.
One yr we all dressed up as a banana split...
Each child had a color... chocolate, strawberry, van...brown syrupy looking hats w a red cheery on top...
Then we dressed as banana's... adorable!!!
You were made to be a mom. I love watching how you both interact with Cade. I can’t wait to be a grandma.
How adorable is that costume!!!!
Such a cute costume for Super Cade!!❤
I can't wait to see the complete costume! What a cute idea!
I decorate for Falloween in September. I put up fall and Halloween together. No lie. It's just so much easier.
I'm loving the Halloween music in this vlog!
Cade is such a lucky little boy. He has such a talented mom who will be making his Halloween costumes for years to come! Super Cade is absolutely adorable! 🎃👻🎃
MaCenna ! You did beautiful Halloween costumes for your baby I love , thank you very much to sharing🥰🥰🥰
My Mom made all of my costumes and it’s still one of my favorite memories to look back on.
Girl, what can’t you do? You are amazing!
Ahahahaha! Little does she know, she'll soon know more than she ever wanted to know about alllllll the super heroes! And toy swords, and minecraft, and Legos. 😂❤😂
Yep, so true 😂
Lifelong seamstress here. When gathering pull the bottom (bobbin) thread.
She went to fashion design school..just saying 😅
And?@@PHcute
@@blip902and she knows nothing
@phcute Well, now we all know that YOU don't support other women. 😕
I have an 8 month old. She is wearing 18 month clothes. Very healthy, good eater. She is my second. My first followed the aging/sizes perfectly. I love the costume!
This is too much, I’m dying at the cuteness
You should be Wonder Woman!! You actually are one❤
YOUR KITCHEN IS SO GOOD AND DREAMY , SO EXCELLENT
Would love to see a thrift trip for new moms! (goodwill has the best baby clothing usually brand new with tags!)
My thrift store has really good baby clothes. I always get my niece and nephews clothes from there.
My son was a bat for his first Halloween 17 years ago! Black onesie, black trousers, faux fur circle for his tummy and an old black t-shirt of his dad's cut into bat wing shape and pinned along arms and shoulders. May have made ears, can't remember!
Macenna, I love how you halloweened up that entry table. I also love Cade’s costume. ❤
Watching you make that costume the comics nerd in me was cackling - Superman's mom made his costume for him.
OMG, Super Cade outfit is going to be so cute! Can't wait to see you all 4 dressed up!!!❤💛🖤🎃🎃
This costume is so cute! If you don’t want it to bother him, you could sew the collar right sides together around the collar with a top-stitch. Hope this helps! I love it ❤️
What can’t you do, MaCenna? This is so precious 🧡
Aww the cutest little costume ❤❤❤
The costume is so cute ! SuperCade will save Halloween !
I still remember my children’s first Halloween ( ages 47 and 40). Cade is going to be so adorable I can’t wait to see the family pictures👻🎃🤖👾👽
Do you make any holiday traditional food?

Cade is going to look SO cute in that costume! Also, your new pot looks fabulous with the tea kettle.
Oh my goodness, he’s going to look so cute!! I remember making my daughter’s first Halloween costume. Great memories made!
You sounded completely insane when you were talking over the music about your web webbing on the paintings it was wonderful❤🎉🎉
Happy Halloween MaCenna!!!! I can't wait to see Cade in his costume!!! And Kinsley!!
"Did I? Or did you?" LMFAO!!! I love your vlogs so much girl!
hahahahhahah thank youuuuuuu
The costume is so cute! I’m decorating for Halloween today and carving pumpkins with my kids. We usually decorate the day before and take it all down the day after. Nobody here in the uk generally does Halloween for more than a few days beforehand.
Will you be going back to the cottage for the holidays? 😊
You might have been lucky with the red. My daughter is half Filipino/English. I put her in a yellow onesie as the baby. The health visitor went into a panic as the colour against her skin made her look jaundice. 22 years later still never wears yellow.
Yes! I second @Britbabe53: pants or tights under the onesie! This is TOO CUTE 🥰
Cade is going to look adorable in his costume ❤
I think of you attached buttons onto the onsie or cape, and a thing the button/snap closure on to then you can remove it and reuse the onesie for other things 😊
This Halloween is going to be so fun for you guys ❤ love all your idea's!
I was just looking for your video !!!!😊❤
You could Velcro a cape to Kensley’s collar or harness with a slit for her leash to feed through. You can do that for Cade’s belt too so it’s easy to remove if a hinderance.
Super Mama! ❤ Keep the sewing videos coming
Good job, mama! His costume is great! ❤
I see a kids Halloween party in the future. Lots of fun for Cards childhood.
Can’t wait to see the Halloween family photo👻🎃💀🥰
I think you can fix the cape to the collar with the ribbon you use to do napkin holders. If you sew it on the inside of the onesie like a rectangle over the seam to the cape ❤
Wow I wish I had you here to do my home for the holidays.. your so creative.. TEACH ME !!! lol
Too cute, love your videos, happy Halloween 👻👻👻
Love love! Can't wait to see your costumes!!!❤❤❤
This is so extra lol my son is almost two, and I haven’t done a Halloween costume for him at all because he doesn’t know what’s happening. 😂

True MaCenna fashion 😂❤

We normally stay home and hand out candy and chili, however this year we are headed to canton first Monday trade days. I did pack candy in motorhome incase kids in canton trick or treat. Cade is growing so fast. Enjoy his first Halloween 🎃
