Hiking to ALL the Arches in Arches NP - in a Single Day!

  • We only had one day in Arches National Park. So, naturally, we decided to see if we could hike to all the arches in Arches NP in just a single day- over 20 miles and 2000FT of climbing in 100+F heat.
    There is just one main road in Arches, so our goal was to do all the hikes in Arches that are along this road. For those interested, this was our hiking route:
    1. Devil's Garden/Primitive Trail Loop: Includes Landscape Arch, Wall Arch, Navajo Arch, Partition Arch, Double O Arch, Private Arch, Pine Tree Arch, and Tunnel Arch
    2. Walk through the Devil's Garden campground to the Broken Arch Loop Trail: also includes Tapestry Arch, Skyline Arch, and Sand Dune Arch
    3. Delicate Arch out and back: includes Twisted Doughnut Arch
    4. The Windows Loop: Included North Window, South Window, and Double Arch
    5. Park Avenue - technically not an arch, but come on! You can't miss Park Avenue :)

      Us too, Bill! We sometimes rewatch this one just to remember how crazy awesome those arches are (though Adam's favorite thing is still that long narrow slot canyon he found!). And you know we would never leave out Park Avenue -- it's so sublime, and a great way to finish off a day of sufferfest trail running!

    Arches' day time weather can be absolutely brutal. It's extremely exposed and just soaks up and radiates all that heat. But one of my favorite memories of all time is a hike out to delicate arch in the middle of the night with a group of friends. And we just sat inside the arch and watched the moon and stars for hours. As a fellow Adam, I approve of your "shortcut." Distance is shorter, not necessarily time. :D

      Wow that sounds truly amazing at Delicate Arch. Tremendous idea. Can only imagine what it looked like in the moonlight. The shortcut was so cool -- a bit scary for a second at the bottom of that slot, but very memorable and unique. ❤️

      Thanks so much Tommy! WOW , watching you Two was like watching a Movie in fast Motion. Most hikers would only do two or three Arches a day even if they went out with a Temp of 90 much less 100 plus.
    You TWO were Blasting to see that many !!!
    When I am out , I am lucky to get one Arch with my Camera and tripod ,, then stop and go in SLOW MOTION to suck in all the Amazing Beauty they offer !!!
    Adam ,, I never had a Pop Tart till I saw you eating them ,, now because of YOU I enjoy them in on my hikes ,, Yes they are FUN and Tasty, but the hot tip is carry them in a reseal-able clear bag to mix the flavors or if you do not eat both at the same rime ..
    I Thank Both of YOU ,, your AMAZING AMAZON BEASTS, Great Videos !! .

      @LiveHardxLoveHard  2 роки тому

      Haha thanks Bob --- you have no idea how psyched Adam is that he's got you on the Pop Tarts! It's funny you say that about filming in slow motion, because though we often end up running on these adventures, filming them has also been teaching us us how to stop and take in beautiful scenes with regularity. Before filming, we sometimes used to just run straight through a given place, enjoying the beauty but not fully basking in it. Now we're always pausing for great shots, and find that it immerses us more in the beauty of a place! ❤️

The last time we were in Arches, I convinced my Mother and Father in law to hike up to Delicate Arch. Fantastic video! My favorite so far. The scenery is incredible. What a spectacular Park. Watching Adam is like seeing a kid in a candy store, who needs to be constantly reigned in. Elise, you are the perfect partner who is better at assessing the risk involved. But, of course, Adam always says "we can do it!" Here's my suggestion for a future challenge: traversing the High Sierra from east to west. I know you can do it!

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard

      Yes, Gar. Now you understand what it's like living with Adam. I think of it as living with a giant puppy, but a kid in a candy store is also accurate. 😂 So happy you liked this one. It was a really beautiful place to film and we were hoping that would come out well on the camera. Meanwhile, traversing the High Sierras is a brilliant idea, and a bucket list item for us for sure.

When I was there it was in September and the temps were not as hot as what you two endured! Probably in the 80's. Also, Delicate Arch with the steep bowl I had to hike around to get to the arch. I was very careful not to fall there! You two scare the heck out of me the way you both run around on the rocks! Unfortunately we are not that lucky to live in Breck. We live in Florida. Last year after Arches we drove to Breck and we fall in love with it. We went there for a winter trip since then and we are going back again at the end of august. I’m still in the planning stage of where to hike. Open to ideas if you guys have any. ;)

      We've heard that the lakes trails around there -- esp Mohawk lakes -- are incredibly beautiful, and that the views from the top of Quandary Peak are insane. Those would prob be our first two choices!

      Us too! It's endlessly fascinating to think about how they were shaped over eons of erosion, and how so many could occur in one place!

    I have run the loops in Bryce Canyon National park. This one was awesome! So beautiful! Best to save that for other seasons lol. Another hike no permits (I think still the case) is white mtn. Keep road to the top! Can camp at grand view night before. Love your videoes. I am starting your abs one. That one was great too. 👍

      Yes Cheryl! We've run Bryce as well -- such an incredible place. And we actually did do White Mountain a few weeks ago, along with a couple bonus ridge traverses. Didn't camp, but drove up at dawn and it was gorgeous. So happy you're liking the videos!!

    That is awesome. It was raining when we were there. Always took the back trails. Favorite arch was Mesa Arch in Canyon Lands at sunrise. I'm sure you did that.

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  2 роки тому

      Wow, rain would make that rock so slippery. Definitely would have been harder to do some of the scrambling we did. But sounds like you had fun regardless! We have done Mesa Arch before for sunrise (didn't have time to make it to Canyonlands on this trip) and agree it was definitely gorgeous. That whole area of Canyonlands is really something special at sunrise.

    Every time I think that you've made a great video, you outdo yourselves. 100+ degrees? A great accomplishment.
    Thanks for a great adventure. Arches and Canyonlands are old haunts of this old Geologist.
    The Entrada Sandstone is almost as beautiful as Elise or as iconic as Adam. I hope that you guys celebrated with a beer in Moab.
    If you are still out there try the Shaefer trail. I rafted Cataract Canyon many times........just love that country.

      You seriously had the best job ever -- going to so many cool places and getting paid for it! We're back from that trip already, but Shaefer trail looks dope and we will definitely put it on the list for next time, because we're getting obsessed with Utah. Meanwhile, we not only had celebratory beers but also some fantastic Mediterranean food in Moab -- the dining options there are not bad at all!

      @@LiveHardxLoveHard After sweating out on a 20 mile hike in Moab heat, I like to devour a bag of Cheetos! Gotta replenish the lost salt. Seriously.

      @@LiveHardxLoveHard Appreciate the reply! There are tons of great trails in Canyonlands Natl Park. Check out the map. Also check out Upheaval Dome on Google Earth (the people thin out by mid-September, so might make for a good video).
      Yes, I did a ton of seismic imaging work in the area in my younger days. Many of the big rock folds that you see are a result of salt flowing over millions of years; or volcanics (The La Sal Mts south of Delicate Arch; and Abajo Mts due south of Moab are volcanos).

    Wow, what a treat this one was! Seriously, I live for your guys videos, lol!! I learned what an Adam-cut is, and Elise said ‘vertiginous’ again, lol. I live in AZ, hike all the time, and have hiked in extreme heat conditions (in Phoenix all thru the summer, hottest I did was 117, yes I’m nuts). You must be acclimated to it, but looks like you guys did great, as usual. As for suggestions, if you’re thinking about the PNW, you might consider the Olympics. Take care and be safe!

    • @LiveHardxLoveHard
      @LiveHardxLoveHard  2 роки тому +1

      Whoa 117 is crazy! Bet you went through a lot of water on that day. Adam once did a very short run in 128 in Death Valley just to say he'd done it, but he was red in the face for like 3 hours after. So glad you're liking the videos, and the Olympics is a great idea. We've been wanting to head north and do Rainier anyway, and Olympics would fit in perfectly with that trip.

      Wow Dina we're really honored that you've seen all our videos! (Sorry for how sloppy some of the earlier ones are -- we were just learning as we went). It means so much to us that we can make you feel like you're hiking even on days when you're stuck inside -- that's really what it's all about for us is just sharing the joy of the adventure with people who love the outdoors as much as we do. And of course, Elise is SUPER psyched that you're liking the songs and lover her voice -- that definitely made her night!❤️
