Damn. You guys are really something special. You guys keep doing things that most would consider impossible. Thank you for showing us what the human mind and body are capable of doing. I feel so lucky to have found your channel.
Wow thank you so much -- that is a really lovely compliment, and it makes us both feel very proud. We feel lucky that you found us, and voice your support in such a kind and eloquent way.
You two are just amazing! Having just returned from hiking Angels Landing, The Narrows in Zion, the loop in Bryce and Kaibab in Grand Canyon I am reliving some hikes through your videos. They are very well done and so beautiful. Thanks for sharing you adventures.
Haha Steve we've been following each other! We might go do Bryce soon too -- we have an idea for making a marathon out of several of the different loops. Meanwhile, super glad you can relive some of those adventures through the vids -- we sometimes grab a cup of tea on a lazy evening and do exactly the same thing! ❤️
I love that you guys attempt things that are hard, even for you. You also show us when you struggle but keep going. You both are strong with body, but more important strong with mind.
Yes! You totally understand, and put it perfectly. The mind is by far the more important thing, and these sufferfests train the mind even more than the body.
As one of those who can't do these things anymore (thanks a lot, Time!), I so appreciate your video posts, guys! Excellent adventure ... and fajitas, absolutely!
Haha yes Steven -- we crush some fajitas after these sufferfests! We're delighted as always to take you along on these adventures, and we will keep on doing it for as long as we physically can. Not sure how long that will be, but we're grateful for every single day. ❤️
You both never stop surprising us with your amazing adventures!!! Thanks for having those hearts of steel to complete your difficult goals, and hearts of love to show us only the best!!! The views are amazing!!!
Thanks so much, Orlando! We love sharing these adventures with you, and that kind of encouragement means a lot to us. You're getting us pumped to get back out there (but not until we recover from this one -- we're still feeling a little sore from it!!!).❤️
Thanks so much! This was one of our all-time favorite adventures -- looking that far down on Half Dome after just having climbed it was totally surreal. ❤️
My kinesthetic body is with you every step!!! Granite is incredible rock to hike/climb, and your footage is indeed over the top. And your voice is angelic! And of course Yosemite is drop dead amazing. Don’t know, just doesn’t get any better! Words can’t express. Thank you sooo much for the joy you bring. Always be safe and God bless
Mary thank you so much for those incredibly kind words. They brought a big smile to both of our faces. So happy that you are along with us on these adventures!! ❤️
Yes Brett!! Seriously stoked that you're starting that healthy journey! 1/4 of this would get you all the way up the Mist trail, next to both of those incredible waterfalls -- a pretty good first goal actually! And then, once you've done that, Half Dome!
Oh My!! That was amazingly beautiful....I've only seen Half Dome safely from the ground. Love coming with you guys on your adventures, like you said...I could never do this and those close to the edge views...Amazing!!
Thank you -- we are really happy to be able to take you to those places! So glad you're enjoying the adventures. It gives us a lot of motivation knowing that we're doing some of these really hard challenges for more than just ourselves. ❤️
Aw thank you so much for telling us that!! It truly makes us feel great, and like we're doing something right -- also delighted you're loving the music. ❤️❤️
Thanks Darren! Ya there are some crazy drop-offs especially from Half Dome, but truthfully it wasn't too scary of a hike because we didn't have to climb over those drops on loose rock or anything -- just look over them from solid granite, which is a lot safer! ❤️
Thank you so much -- really glad you liked it. We just had a ton of gratitude and joy on this one. We were sore after, but felt nothing but happiness during the whole adventure itself. ❤️
Thanks so much! We're having so much fun and will definitely keep on going. We have a list of future adventures about 10 pages long! And don't worry, as you can see from us hauling our harnesses for 25 miles and 8000 feet of climbing, we won't forget about safety. ❤️
You guys are incredible! Can't wait for your next adventure. Excellent video. Your channel gets better and better. Thank you for sharing with us. Be safe...
Thanks so much, Myra! We're really grateful that you're noticing our efforts to improve and grow with the videos -- and looking forward to taking you on the next one! ❤️
Thanks so much! Very glad you saw this -- it was one of our all-time favorite adventures. We really are deeply thankful for the ability to do things like this, and delighted we could take you along!! ❤️
Thanks so much, Tim. We really have been blessed this year with the places we've gotten to go and the climbs we've been able to do. So glad you're enjoying them with us, and as you can see from us hauling those harnesses for 25 miles, we're definitely staying safe! ❤️
Thanks so much, Shea! We're having a whole lot of fun with this channel -- what a blessing to share these adventures with so many supportive, like-minded people! ❤️
i love your videos! you guys are very inspiring and i got the urge to do half dome with the cables down from your first video! i did the hike on saturday and it was amazing! got started before the sun came up and there wasnt a lot of people for a saturday! clouds rest is next and maybe one day do both in one day like you two incredible people!
Cole we are so stoked to hear that!!! Seriously, thank you so much for letting us know we inspired your first Half Dome, and maybe your first Half Dome / Clouds Rest double -- it really makes us feel good and like we're doing something worthwhile! ❤️
This is Ben again, you guys did it again. You made me wish i could be there in person. BUT, this is great to see both of you get that special feeling, that is now called a HIGH!!!! I'M HAPPY FOR YOU. Both of you are in top shape, and that is good!! What a view! Up there, Thank you, i loved it!! Be careful!!!! Ben.
Thanks so much Ben! Well, if you can't be there in person, we hope the next best thing is coming along with us. It truly does give you a high being out there doing adventures like this. Hopefully you felt a little bit of that too!
Thanks Martin! It really was amazing being alone on Half Dome -- and then even more amazing having Clouds Rest all to ourselves later in the day! Not even sure how that happened other than the fact that, as you well know, the hiking and running gods favor the determined! ❤️
Love it - you two are beasts and you magnify each other. So awesome! Funny timing for you to drop this one, as I just started planning this same combo, off season, but as a couple nights backpacking. Thank you so much for taking us along! 🙏🏼🤘🏼
Yes Mike!!! You are going to love this combo so much, and backpacking it sounds awesome. We never have luck getting permits, but if you can get the camping permit it'll be great. And if you can't, you can definitely do it the way we did -- just be prepared to be really sore the next couple of days!
Thanks Jakub -- it was very nice to meet you as well! I hope you made it down safely -- going down those stairs in the dark was probably the hardest thing we did all day. I can't remember if I told you the plans for our next big adventure, but it's coming out tomorrow and I think it's a hike you'll like a lot if you haven't done it yet. So glad you reached out to say hi! -- Adam
Did Half Dome in '08, I remember the spot where you dangled your legs off of the edge, I could not bring myself to look over the edge! You guys are awesome, thanks for sharing!
Thanks David! Ya I generally have no fear of heights whatsoever, but something about the long, sheer drop-off from that ledge almost made me a little dizzy. But wow, what a fun climb -- glad you've gotten to experience it as well! --A
Fantastic videography only surpassed by your hiking/climbing abilities. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure at Yosemite, the most majestic and intimidating Rock Formation on Earth.
Thanks George! It is really our pleasure to take you along. We've actually been finding that filming places like Half Dome -- especially Half Dome -- gives us even more appreciation for their beauty. Sometimes we just sit and stare and marvel at how lucky we are to get to be in these places, and that happened repeatedly on this one. ❤️
About .001 percent of people ( or less) in the world get to experience stuff like this. Such an amazing feat and proud accomplishment! You guys rock the rock!!
Thanks Doug! It was freaking amazing to look down on Half Dome after just having climbed it. Totally new perspective on the park, and all while feeling badass for executing an 8000 foot climb! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard badass is right. you both earned that plus a double cheeseburger and a chocolate shake when you got down in the valley :) That's if you indulge in such rewards when you finish your hikes. Another great video experience. thanks
Thank you Laura -- the views really were amazing! Even though we wanted to get down by dark, we ended up pausing and just sitting in a bunch of different places just to take it all in. Yosemite is just a magical place! ❤️
That was a tremendous hike you guys! Fantastic videography you captured! I love all the amazing views from up there! I saw some of the fall colors in your video too! Great job! 👏👏👏💪😎
Thank you so much Paul! I am obsessed with the fall colors and wish we had gotten to see some more... no trees on Half Dome :D Guess we just need to do some more fall exploring in the Sierras! -E
Thanks Paul! Glad you noticed the fall colors -- they were so beautiful on that trek along the river. And our other favorite shot was that shot of the bird gliding the Clouds Rest thermal with Half Dome in the background. Honestly one of our favorite shots we've ever gotten anywhere, and neither of us was even in it! 😂
Thanks so much, Travis! Delighted you're liking the music -- the best thing about making all our own songs is that we can customize them for exactly the vibe we want! ❤️
I'm so happy that we crossed paths on the trail to Clouds Rest. Of course I had no idea you guys were so awesome until my new hiking friend on that day recognized you. You both were so kind to chat with us and take pictures. We definitely accounted for a fair portion of your non moving time ( : Funny to see the raven in your video as he was hanging out right next to us on the top of CR hoping for snacks when we were there too. I had tried the CR hike two years ago and it kicked my butt. Now that I've checked that off my bucket list you've inspired my next challenge ... the double Half Dome and Clouds Rest.
Jack! It was really great to meet you guys -- and our raven friend! We had a great time talking to you, and are seriously stoked that you're going to do the double. You have to let us know how it turns out. And how sore you are -- we were sore for two whole days!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Worked really hard for an old man to be ready for this one (10+ hours a week aerobic) but definitely was sore and took two days off for recovery before getting back in my routine. Planning on the double in the Spring -- wish me luck and I'll let you know how it goes. Be well and stay safe!
those hikes are over 22 miles from the valley round trip, brutal in heat, I actually love these two because of the people you see. fun to people watch and meet some people, done it in winter alone too. I like the mob scene in the summer though, everybody is happy, plodding along.
Subscribed to your channel, love it! Wow! You guys are amazing!! I love the energy you guys give!! You guys are couple goals!! One day I want to hike as good as you guys!! Thanks for inspiring me!
Jazmine we're so happy you're joining us for the adventures! It means a lot to us that we're inspiring you to hike -- thank you for telling us that, because it really gives us motivation to keep going. Can't wait to hear about some of your adventures as you get increasingly ambitious out there on the trails!! ❤️
That's awesome! I've done Half Dome four times (with the cables up), and have done Cloud's Rest as a one-way trip from Happy Isles to Highway 120 (I think that was roughly 18-19 miles).
Thanks Scott! That sounds like a super cool way to do Clouds Rest -- we'd like to try that at some point too. Def recommend doing Half Dome once with the cables down, especially if you can do it early and on a weekday, just for the opportunity to spend time up there all alone. It's pretty incredible.
Did half dome last weekend - thanks to your guys video! Was going to do Clouds Rest on the way down but had no suncream and it was such a sunny day. Will be back in Spring to tag them both in a day!! Thanks for your videos!
Love it, Robert! Congrats on HD, and so psyched our video helped. And seriously, you will LOVE doing the double. Absolutely nothing like climbing HD, and then looking all the way down on it from CR. One of our favorite hiking days ever -- can't wait to hear how it goes when you do it! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard It totally inspired the trip haha, wouldn't have done it without your guys insight! I also made a little video of the day :P Such a nice way to keep a memory!
Our pleasure, Joseph! We really hope you get to do it soon too -- was truly epic going up HD first, and then looking down on it from CR. We'll never forget it. ❤️
Love from India ✌️✌️. You guys are great and inspiration for me, I wanted to train and do this stuff for couple of months now my didn't get enough confidence, but now I do and it's because of both of you guys. Thanks a lot and keep making these videos.
so epic!!! thank you so much for sharing! I've hiked half dome with the cables up but I am not sure I would be able to do it with them down haha you two always make it seem so easy.
Thanks so much, Audra! We're sure you could do it with the cables down too, but the important thing is that you've been to the top of that magical beast! What a place, right? Now we gotta get you up to Clouds Rest to see those views, which are def the most insane in the whole park! ❤️
That's fantastic, Jose! And congrats on getting permits! We always have the world's worst permit lottery luck, but have come to embrace it and just enjoy going places in the offseason! Anyway, the important thing is we all got to go to the top of that fantastic beast. What a place! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thank you! It was busy but not crazy cuz it was right after the 2018 fire reopening so a lot of people had cancelled. But I do like the cables down challenge👍
That was awesome !!! I so love to watch your videos, especially when I work out. Believe me when I see you guys hiking some of the hardest climbs it makes me workout harder.. LOL! Both of you are amazing people. God bless!!!
Cynthia that makes us so happy to hear -- thank you! LOVE the idea of being your workout motivation. It's gonna motivate us to go even harder on these hikes. God bless you as well -- now go crush those workouts! ❤️
Love the video!!! Every time when I go hiking with my husband I thinking hopefully one they I can hike like you guys... I get more energy when I watched the videos. You guys are from God because no one can Love nature this much 🌠God bless you guys🌈
Thank you so much, Elvira! Your love of nature will definitely lead you to do these kinds of hikes, just like it has for us. We truly did feel blessed on this entire hike, just repeatedly looking around and feeling that blessing flowing through us. ❤️
What an awesome video!!! Thank you for taking us along. Something I will never be able to do. I sure do enjoy your adventures & look forward to them every week!!! Adam has his pop tarts but Elise what about those jelly beans? LOL🤣😂 Love your music Elise. You have such a beautiful voice 🎶 I’m in awe of God’s creation, just beautiful💟 Thanks again!!!
Aw thanks Debbie, you are always so kind and supportive of us! We were really happy to take you along on this one. We know almost no one is going to do it because it is just too long and hard, but it felt so enjoyable to know that you guys were there with us in spirit and got to see what we saw. E didn't bring Jelly Beans this time, and I was bummed because I wanted some! -- A
Ok….this is such a stunning hike! Thank you sooooo much for sharing it! Your accomplishments……and scenery……and narration, are second to none! The fact that you had Half Dome to yourselves in this COVID, over run era is incredible! That would be interesting to prussic knot the webbed dog harness I put on my dog and see if he is down for scaling Half Dome. Absolutely incredible! Safe travels! PS. Viva Tacos and fajitas!
Haha omg Alan the image in our minds of you Prusik-ing your dog up Half Dome is the best thing EVER! Please, please, get video and pics if you ever do anything like that. Meanwhile, we really did feel blessed to have both HD and CR summits all to ourselves. A lot of people ask us why we run on the trails, but there's the answer right there. Being the first ones to the top can be incredibly magical, and allows us to film the beauty for you guys much better as well. ❤️
What an adrenaline filled hiking experience. Lots of love and blessings to you guys from Nepal. Come to Nepal. We have lots of mountains waiting for your. Put Mt. Everest in your bucket list. xoxo
Oh we would LOVE to come to Nepal! We’ve actually got our eyes on a ton of amazing climbs there. Not sure if our bodies could handle that high altitude of Everest though! 😳
Haha! We love when people think we’re nuts! 😜 I also felt the same after doing Half Dome. I remember coming down and Adam being like NEXT TIME WERE GOING TO CLOUDS REST, and it seemed exhausting 😂 but I never turn down a challenge like that!! Worth it!
nice video that makes me want to do the half dome again... we just came back from Yosemite a few days ago and did the Yosemite Fall hike. Need to plan another trip back to it!
Yes! There can never be too many Yosemite trips. We could probably go up every weekend for a full year and never run out of hikes we want to do. Yosemite Falls is a great hike, but you should def do HD again too. There's just nothing else like it.
You guys are blessed for sure. What an incredible day hike. The scenery is flippin incredible 😍. The joy on yall's faces says it all. Love your videos.
Thanks Jason -- you nailed it. Blessed is exactly the word for how we felt the entire day. Not sure how or why we deserved a day like that with perfect weather and two glorious summits all to ourselves, but we will never ever forget it, or forget to be thankful for it. So happy to share this one with you, as well as all the others to come. ❤️
Thanks so much! Very glad you enjoyed this one -- it was one of the most joyous days we've ever had out on the trail. It just seemed like everything went our way, and it's so fun to share an experience like that with people who appreciate such things! ❤️
Now that you’ve guys have made it to the top of the great dome ! you guys should try it at night !! The sunrise is amazing from the top in the morning!! I was lucky enough to hike it during a meteor shower at night was probably one of the most amazing hikes I’ve ever had!!!
Oh wow that sounds incredible! You are 100 percent right. We honestly hadn't even thought of it but now that you say it we really need to do it at night and see the sunrise from up there. It's going on the list!
Thank you, that is really great for us to hear! It is definitely our pleasure to take you on these adventures, and you are right to get back to Yosemite ASAP. We go more than most of our friends think is healthy, but they're wrong. Yosemite is always a good choice! ❤️
brings back memories from our trips to Yosemite and half dome a while back, so pumped to do it again sometime. Thanks for getting out there and showing us whats possible for a day hike. Super Ambitious :)
Thanks Grafton! We love hearing when these vids bring back fond memories for some of you. We've done a lot of hiking in Yosemite and if we had to recommend just one, this would probably be it just because it really shows off some of the greatest parts of the park. Glad we could share this one with you!
Thanks Gar! We were super lucky to get those views -- apparently the visibility hadn't been great earlier in the week, but it was totally clear and perfect when we went. We need a few more days to recover before the next big adventure, but we do have one planned that we're pretty sure you're gonna love! ❤️
Yes Rob!!! So stoked that you're doing it. Please let us know how it goes. We know you're going to crush it, but just want to hear your joy after you do!
Yes Katie!! Yosemite is just incredible, and really meaningful to us and our relationship in all kinds of ways too. So happy to bring you a different perspective on it!
Oh heck yes! We could not recommend this one more highly. It's obviously really challenging, even bordering on sufferfest territory, but you will not regret a minute of it. Still have incredible memories of this one! ❤️
I was having a bad moment of anxiety just now and was so happy to see this pop up in my feed! I'm an avid hiker who's been out of commission for the past 8 weeks due to a stress fracture, so thanks for the wonderful content, it really helps to calm me! :)
Oh no Lexi, we hate hearing that you're injured, but it really means a lot to us that we can be part of your recovery journey. We've both been out with injuries for extended periods of time before too, and so we completely understand the pain, frustration, anxiety and all the other emotions that come along with it. We promise to keep trying to bring you epic adventures to cheer you up and get you through until you can get back out on the trails. Hang in there ♥️
Hi Adam and Elise, beautiful, thanks for sharing your adventure, I'm not sure I could do that one, but I'm getting ready to go to Yosemite next week with my daughter. My friend who had the permits and everything ready to go for half dome with his family last month got injured and couldn't make it. I'm sending him this video so he can make the climb with you guys. Thanks !!!
Wow what a great trip to do with your daughter! Depending on how much she likes to hike, she might like Taft Point and Sentinel Dome (easy hike, but great views), or of course Yosemite Falls if she's good with all that climbing. And Clouds Rest coming from the opposite direction at Tenaya Lake is also totally do-able, and then you get that crazy view down the valley that we showed at the top there. Sorry to hear about your friend -- what a bummer after actually winning the permit lottery! But yeah, send him our vid and reassure him he can do it off season once he recovers! ❤️
Yes yes yes! We love the rush of climbing Half Dome, but when it comes to truly majestic views Clouds Rest has no equal. You will absolutely love it. And lots of ways to do it. You can come from the valley like we did, which is a pretty long hard hike, or you can come from Tenaya Lake which is only about half as long and less elevation gain, but equally beautiful. Either way, you definitely gotta get up there and let us know how you think it compares to Half Dome!
I live in Poland. We have Tatra Mountains here which I very love. But I live on the other side of the country, near to the sea. But what i'd like to say. World is beatifull wherever you are. You have an amazing adventure. Wish you the very best
Thank you so much, Sylwia -- it makes us so happy to know you are seeing our videos from all the way over in Poland! And you are totally right -- the world is beautiful everywhere. ❤️
Haha thanks so much! That makes us really happy to hear. And you're right about those snack spots -- this one was almost too crazy even for Adam. He was having a hard time eating looking down at that drop! 😂
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Heck yeah, I’m always down for a great hike. I inspire myself to do my own hikes. But you guys inspire so many to do their own hikes as well. I live in a place that gives me an opportunity to hike so many beautiful places. Most do not. Thank you for showcasing amazing hikes that most people might not even have a clue about. You two are shining stars in the hiking community on UA-cam. As always, keep up the great work.
I felt vertigo ++++ watching Adam in 4K having his snack at the top of Half Dome and the sheer drop beneath! Amazing videography, as always! Well done on passing 20k subscribers too!
Heelloooooooo ! Ive been watching you both with my girlfriend, during the very long Melbourne lockdown, that you might have heard of. We wanted to thanks you for all the great vids ! And we are back running around our beautiful country as well, you are such an inspiration ! And you really gave us the motivation for trying out a lot of hikes that looks hardm and that we probably wouldn't have done before. Keep crushing it ! Dave&Shaz
Dave and Shaz, thank you so much for telling us that! The most motivating thing for us is believing we can be even a small part of inspiring others, so this comment really put some fire in us. We have heard about your lockdown, and congrats to you guys for getting through it and now back into nature. We've heard great things about hiking and trail-running in Australia, and are definitely planning to make it out there (down there?) to try it for ourselves! ❤️
I’m gonna do both of these peaks in May 2022, just not on the same day! Blessings on you two for living your best life now! You just exude pure joy on these adventures
We are so stoked for you to do both of these climbs! We've done Cloud's Rest from the alternate way starting at Tenaya Lake, and that is a truly special trail as well. The last half mile up to the summit is unreal, and something you don't get when coming from the valley floor. You'll know what I mean when you see it!! Anyway, so glad that our joy comes across in these vids, because how can you feel anything else when you're out there?
We did Half Dome last week with your last video as inspiration it was awesome. Gotta say, I think a single prusik with a carabiner lifeline at your hip is the way to go, especially if you have to wait for people on the line. So at each transfer point you clip above with the lifeline so you can rest and transfer the prusik. Then you can detach the lifeline and only worry about the single prusik. You guys fully inspire me !
Timothy we're so stoked for you -- congrats!!! And that combo sounds like an excellent combination of safety and speed -- love it. We felt comfortable with just the biners given our experience, confidence, and the perfect weather we had, but if we try HD in winter with slippery snow and ice we might very well borrow that technique from you. Thanks for sharing it! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard you should try both ways and see ;) The simple prusik inspired lots of confidence. Eg on the way down I was running face first, and didn’t take out my partner when I wiped out laughing. Anyway much
I was just there and brought gear for the cables down climb but got the first snow of the season so I had to stand down. There's adventure and then there's common sense! Late start bc I was LITERALLY the first person in the park for the first snow & my tires started slipping, but can't wait to climb it soon! No love lost though because the hike to the dome was gorgeous! You're timing was perfect & I'm happy to venture up there vicariously through you both for now! (The Mistry Trail down really hurt my knees - a total surprise as I hike every day! Those trails are no joke so bravo for this feat!)
Thank you, and very sorry to hear about the snow setback. But great that you got all the way up to the dome -- that can't have been easy in the snow! We really were lucky with out timing. This early snow is probably going to derail a couple of the Sierra climbing adventures we had coming up as well, but that's ok. We'll find some good snow-friendly adventures to do.❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard all good! I was bummed at first but I also did get fall & winter in one trip! Just a great excuse to come back to Yosemite! And your video keeps inspiring! Weather is the tricky element to outdoor adventuring this time of year but it keeps it interesting & exciting! Wishing you fun and safe adventures!!!
Another great video - thanks for the adventure and inspiration! You should think about extending your adventures up here into beautiful British Columbia when the world starts to get back to 'normal'....
Thank you so much, and we absolutely would love to do that. Adam is obsessed with glaciers, and you guys have some incredible glaciers up there -- not to mention some beautiful hikes in general -- that we would love to climb on and explore! ❤️
Thanks Chris! Well now that you're confident with Half Dome, we say it's time for you to do the double. You will for sure be sore -- we were suffering for two days after! -- but it'll be so, so worth it. Nothing like looking that far down at Half Dome after you just climbed it!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I can imagine. I usually do these two beasts of a hike separately. This gives time to talk with folks and enjoy the scenery. How long did it take you to do both? 16 minutes?
@@diemman70 Haha well we actually did a lot of talking with folks too, because we kept running into really nice people who'd seen our videos! 😂 But even with stopping for all that and filming and scenery breaks we still got it done in about 13 hours car to car. Probably 11 hours of moving time.
Another fantastic video. I've done both Clouds Rest and Halfdome but not on the same day. I am stoked to try this with my friends. Thanks again for sharing this amazing wilderness experience !!!
Thanks so much Eric! So awesome to hear you might try this loop. It was tough but definitely manageable because aside from the HD ascent it’s all on well maintained trail. Would love to hear how it goes for you!
I made that Half Dome trip 30 years ago..with the cables up...but I tell you what...I climbed up to the edge on my belly to look over...looked over...and turned pale white and my buddies had to pull me back...I have been afraid of heights ever since. I literally felt like my body was going to stand up and jump against my will! Scariest day of my life! Great views and a great trek that I will never do again.. but it is beautiful up there for sure!
Haha Mike that is a fantastic story! Sorry to hear it led to a fear of heights, but glad you got to feel what it's like up there. Adam has no fear of heights, and even he was feeling palpitations with his feet over the edge of that crazy drop!!
Love this video! I have to get back to Yosemite. Climbed Half Dome with my son on a Boy Scout trip a few years back. I have gained some hiking experience over the past few years but know very little about climbing. I was anxious about the cable part and purchased via ferrata harnesses ahead of time. Money well spent! It gave us huge piece of mind. We obtained permits earlier in the year and climbed when the cables were up. Without the posts and cables down, I’d be more nervous even with a VF harness- Like the idea of adding prusiks. You’re both in insane shape - months of conditioning ahead of time is critical. I was in mediocre shape 8 mos before but several long hikes done in the months leading to the trip made the hike an incredible experience. The up and back between Yosemite Valley and HD was brutal enough - couldn’t imagine adding Cloud’s Rest same day. Thanks for sharing such a fantastic video!
Thanks Pat! Wow what an incredible thing to do with your son. And you are totally right -- if you have any nervousness at all about hanging onto the cables when they're down, then just add the Prusiks. Doing Clouds Rest right afterwards was really hard, but so worth it for the views down on Half Dome and knowing we'd just been up it as well. That combo made it one of our all time favorite hikes -- delighted to share it with you! ❤️
Hey! Just wanted to leave you two an update on this video! I ran into you two on the hike up to half dome and had been watching your videos the night before in preparation! You two are amazing and im so glad I got the chance to meet you on the one hike I've been dreaming of doing for so long! I made it to sub-dome but unfortunately with lack of energy in my legs and lack of food, I decided not to go up to the summit.. but that gives me all the more reason to come back to Yosemite and finish out the hike! Much love to you both from here in Hawaii! Keep doing what you're doing. (Also, going to hike Mt. Mauna Kea next weekend , wish me luck!)
Conor we are so psyched you made it to Hawaii ok, and as you know somewhat jealous because we love it there so much! Good decision about the summit -- that final climb is not something you want to do if your legs don't feel right. But like you say, you will 100% come back and do it, and it will be awesome. Good luck on Mauna Kea, and let us know how it goes!!
Thank you so much -- very glad you liked this one! And we believe that you will be here one day. It is the kind of place that calls to certain people, and eventually that call will bring you. ❤️
Thanks Bill! We felt so, so lucky to have such a perfectly clear day. It was really amazing all the way around -- to be all alone on both peaks, and to have gorgeous views through the whole valley. So glad we could bring you along on this one -- it was a day we're going to remember for a very long time. ❤️
That's awesome, Alejandro! There's no place in the world like Yosemite -- so glad you are enjoying its beauties, and also enjoying our videos. Lots more adventures to come!
What a beautiful day! Nice weather and you two are just beasts! I have done Nevada Falls but not Half Dome. Also, this is the first video I've seen of hiking Cloud's Rest. Great hikes and views! Thanks. If I never get to do these hikes at least I got to experience them with you two! I was so nervous when Adam hung his legs over the edge and gave us the downward view! Oh my gosh!
Joseph, if you were nervous imagine how I felt out there watching him! I'm crazy but not THAT crazy ;) So glad we got to show you Cloud's Rest. Half Dome is the star of Yosemite, but Cloud's Rest in our opinion offers the best views in the park, so to get to see that all in one day? Really something special!
Joseph I was nervous too! That's the first time in a long time I've felt a little queasy looking down from a drop, but it was just SO far down, and such a straight drop off. Whoa. And you're right, the weather was perfect -- we got really lucky with that. Very glad you liked this one! -- A
Hey guys, I have been to the summits of both Cloud's rest and Half Dome several times but never in one long trip! I am putting that one on my bucket list. Once again I must compliment you on your cinematography. You really capture the awesome beauty of that place, and the feeling of being there! There is no other place in the world like that part of Yosemite. It has been too long since my feet have touched the granite of those monoliths. I can't wait to go back. Elise, your music is wonderful. Keep it up!
Yes David! We are delighted to hear you're going to do this hike. It was really revelatory to climb HD and then look so far down on it from CR -- just gave us a totally different understanding of the beauty and symmetry of that part of the park. You will love it. Meanwhile, so glad you're liking the music. We've been working hard on it and have two other songs that will be in videos soon! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard To celebrate my 40th birthday (21 years ago) I trail ran from Tuolumne Meadows to Happy Isles, which was about 40K. On the way I went over the top of Cloud's Rest but opted out of Half Dome. You are right, you do not want to hike down the mist trail in the dark, which I did at a different time. Scary! Looking forward to more new music!
Yes!!! Yosemite is so amazing. ❤️ Thank you very much for letting us know about your health -- we're sorry to hear that, and very proud that at least we can take you along virtually on some of these really crazy adventures. We will keep on doing it until our health eventually fails us as well, and then we will take some awesome cruises and watch whoever's doing it next!
Love the video you guys are in a league of your own. The wife and I have done Half Dome via Glacier Point to illouette to upper Yosemite. Next year we are going to do clouds rest starting from Tuolumne Meadows
That's awesome, Larry! We've done Cloud's Rest that way and absolutely loved it -- wanna try HD from Glacier Point like you did, too. Yosemite is so freaking amazing -- it's impossible to ever get tired of it! ❤️
what a surprise treat to see,, my last trip to Yosemite i went to clouds rest n dome...u two are serious athletes,, i stayed over night at clouds rest b4 permits ,, my only concern was getting my car broken into ,,it was safe ,,wish they had security parking...i thought u said the cables were down but ,, there they are ...how long would u say it takes for a fit person to scale half dome ,,, w the cables?very impressed .. all the best ,, staysafe ,, im predicting another california video.... your fan base is climbing...thank u both 4 sharing your adventures ,, u touch every one who sees your videos w your warmth love positive energy....
Thanks so much! That's awesome you did CR and HD as well. We really want to stay overnight at CR and see sunrise from there, and may try to do it this winter. Cables down just means they take away the supports that make them handrails and lay them flat on the granite, but they're still there to clip into them. It honestly doesn't take long to go up them, especially with the system we use. Maybe 5 minutes, plus another 5 minutes just to sit there half way up and think about how great life is and beautiful Yosemite is! ❤️
Thanks so much! Yeah, it's one of our favorites yet too just because it's pretty hard to top the exhilarating feeling of climbing Half Dome, coupled with the unparalleled views of Yosemite perched on Cloud's Rest. Seriously, make a Yosemite trip a priority! You won't regret it 😃
you two rock, as always! I did this same trip, but I took 3 days, camping at the summit of each one in between! Not sure how I missed this one of yours earlier though... :(
having climbed the dome many times both with cables up and with cables down, I think it's actually easier with them down because you have the weight of the cable helping keep your feet "on the ground!"
and the snack spot? YASSSS! I took a photo (back in Kodachrome days/pre digital) of my feet hanging off the dome. My parents at the time were developing the film and looking at my journey pictures and my mom had to leave the room when she saw that one!
Haha that's a great story, Jeff! We have the same problem with Adam's aunt. She can't watch some of our videos because she gets too stressed. And totally agree about the cables. We always feel safe if we have good handholds (and the cable certainly qualifies!) and don't have people up above who might fall and take us out, or drop something or kick a rock off that becomes a deadly projectile. The problem with cables up is all the other people -- that makes us much more nervous than the fear that we would inexplicably let go of the cable.
It’s nice seeing the differences from your last visit there; and from half to rest is one I’d like to do (maybe someday). Your joy and energy is palpable, if I were Yosemite -- I’d want you two as my spokespersons!
Haha thanks Bill -- we really do love it there, with our whole hearts. The hike from Half to Clouds Rest is really beautiful because you have this incredible view of Half Dome most of the way up. It's just so fun to look at its beauty and reflect on the fact that you just scaled that thing! Definitely hope you get a chance to do it. We would put this in our top ten most beautiful hikes anywhere in the world, and it's well worth seeing it once despite the extraordinary soreness you will feel the next two days!
Haha thanks Levi -- we though it was kind of crazy too when we were planning it, but then when we were actually doing it it felt totally perfect and natural. Of course, the following two days we could barely walk, but that's a small price to pay for a perfect day!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I'm glad it felt so natural when you were doing it...there's nothing like when a plan comes together! Are you typically sore after your adventures or just ones like this one?
@@LiveHardxLoveHard If you're interested...I started taking a supplement that has taken away 95% of my soreness. I can share more info if you would like. My backstory on it is that I had a tragic accident last Sept where I almost cut my left arm completely off. I'll spare you the gory details...but after a couple of surgeries, last spring I started doing things again...like hiking. My second hike was half dome. I day tripped it (I live about 5 hours away). The following morning I had over an hour of physical therapy, and no soreness! No pain meds either : )
One of my bucket lists is to do half dome but with the cables up. My family had a epic family trip planned two years ago. we always drive do our destinations, mostly because we are a family of seven and it would be way too expensive to fly. Yes we have five kids. Remember, we all live in Maine. Our destination was just West of Yosemite for five days. I was planning to do Half Dome. But it all got canceled because of COVID. When Lori (my wife) and I canceled all our hotel bookings, we broke down and cried. It is hard to take off enough time to make it to California from Maine. My job (nursing) rarely lets you take off more than a week. I don't know if we will ever get a chance to do that trip again. I sure hope so. It was wonderful to watch the both of you do a very hard hike and climb. Thanks
Man that sucks. Covid really canceled a lot of great stuff. It canceled our wedding at a castle in France in 2020. And then canceled it again in 2021! But we're planning it again for 2022. Hope you guys will plan to come back to Cali soon too. We can't let this Covid crap keep us down!! But until then, we'll keep bringing you good Cali hiking vibes!
Carl the views were insane!! We couldn't even believe it in person. And seriously, we're pretty sure that if you had a climbing harness and used Prusik knots you wouldn't be anxious once you were actually doing it. It's really a safe and secure way to go up -- honestly, probably a lot safer than hiking down the Mist Trail steps! And it will be so worth it when you're standing on top of Half Dome!
Thanks!
Thank you! ❤️
I love that you guys attempt things that are hard, even for you. You also show us when you struggle but keep going. You both are strong with body, but more important strong with mind.
Yes! You totally understand, and put it perfectly. The mind is by far the more important thing, and these sufferfests train the mind even more than the body.
they are doing amazingly hard trips. yes there are alot of gurus out there, but these are no joke jaunts and they make them fun.
You're getting us pumped to get back out there (but not until we recover from this one -- we're still feeling a little sore from it!!!).❤️
Unreal! You captured this so well!
LOVED IT. Thanks for taking me with you. I'm inspired to get healthy to be able to do 1/4 of this!
Thank you so much......I never cry during these videos this time I'm crying. Thank you. ❣️♥️💝💖💗💓💞💕🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶Elise music❤️
Aw thank you so much for telling us that!! It truly makes us feel great, and like we're doing something right -- also delighted you're loving the music. ❤️❤️
Great video. I was getting scared watching. Over the edge shots. Ive been out awhile .congrats on all the subscribers. Well done!!!!!
Thanks Darren! Ya there are some crazy drop-offs especially from Half Dome, but truthfully it wasn't too scary of a hike because we didn't have to climb over those drops on loose rock or anything -- just look over them from solid granite, which is a lot safer! ❤️
Wow you guys never cease to amaze! Thank you for another awesome video-beautiful!
Thank you so much -- really glad you liked it. We just had a ton of gratitude and joy on this one. We were sore after, but felt nothing but happiness during the whole adventure itself. ❤️
Congrats on 20k subscribers guys!!! Keep up your awesome adventures :) love watching you two explore. You guys stay safe!!
Hey guys, you're giving thanks @ 9:25 in the video; I can feel that passion. It is motivating to experience this hike with you guys; great job.
Thanks so much! Very glad you saw this -- it was one of our all-time favorite adventures. We really are deeply thankful for the ability to do things like this, and delighted we could take you along!! ❤️
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing your hike.
Thank you! It's truly our pleasure to share. We've learned about so many amazing hikes from others, it makes us very happy to give back. ❤️
Great videography! You guys have had an awesome year! Thanks for the video. Stay safe!
Thanks so much, Tim. We really have been blessed this year with the places we've gotten to go and the climbs we've been able to do. So glad you're enjoying them with us, and as you can see from us hauling those harnesses for 25 miles, we're definitely staying safe! ❤️
yay!! congrats on 20k guys. beautiful video as always
Just Crazy Awesome !!! Thank You for taking me for a ride.
Haha yes! It's totally our pleasure. There's nothing we like more than sharing crazy adventures with like-minded people! ❤️
This is Ben again, you guys
did it again. You made me
wish i could be there in person. BUT, this is great to see both of
you get that special feeling, that is now called a HIGH!!!!
I'M HAPPY FOR YOU.
Both of you are in top shape, and that is good!!
What a view! Up there,
Thank you, i loved it!!
Be careful!!!!
Ben.
Thanks so much Ben! Well, if you can't be there in person, we hope the next best thing is coming along with us. It truly does give you a high being out there doing adventures like this. Hopefully you felt a little bit of that too!
Stunning views Adam & Elise, I always love your Yosemite footage. Half Dome all to yourselves! Amazing 👍🏃
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thanks for the reply! 👍🏼 I’ll let you know how it all goes (hoping pre-season wilderness permits will be attainable).
Awesome hike! It was a pleasure to meet you on the trail the very same day at the crossing of winter and mist trails. Good luck and stay safe!
Another great video experience. thanks
What an INSANE climb! As always, super impressed by you both! Thanks for taking us along--the views looked amazing!
7:15 "The only ones up here!" The twins will be named Half and Dome.
🤣🤣
Awesome! You are so inspiring. I love the music that goes along with it - custom-made 😊 Great job!
Thanks so much, Travis! Delighted you're liking the music -- the best thing about making all our own songs is that we can customize them for exactly the vibe we want! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard So I've caught on based on the lyrics tailored to the videos.... That is exactly the basis of my comment! Awesome! 🤜💥🤛
OMG, my palm is sweating just watching it. Amazing 🤗
Thanks Andy! Yosemite really is amazing. Even six days later, we're still feeling kind of a high from this one.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing! Hope to hike this soon!
Sohel thanks so much for telling us that! It makes us feel very happy and very motivated to keep going. So glad to hear you are training hard!! ❤️
so epic!!! thank you so much for sharing!
Awesome! I always learn something new from your vids. We did it during cables up season and it was one of the best experiences. Great job 👏
LOL🤣😂
Love your music Elise. You have such a beautiful voice 🎶
I’m in awe of God’s creation, just beautiful💟 Thanks again!!!
Yay!! Cannot wait to watch after work today!! Just what I needed to see to motivate me the last 1.5 hours of work today! 🙌
Aw! We are honored to be your motivation to get through the work day. You've got this!
epic journey by your team on all peaks, hope to visit 2025.
You two are amazing! Love your videos! Keep up the great work. I look forward to watching your future videos.
I’ve done Halfdome several times. To add Clouds Rest to that day is nuts! You guys are super human!
Loved the video, You guys are the greatest!
My favorite adventure & UA-cam duo!! Amazing-thanks for taking us with you! Now I want to go back to Yosemite!!
You guys are too cute together! Your enthusiasm is infectious. What awesome views. I can't wait to see your next adventure.
Thanks Gar! We were super lucky to get those views -- apparently the visibility hadn't been great earlier in the week, but it was totally clear and perfect when we went. We need a few more days to recover before the next big adventure, but we do have one planned that we're pretty sure you're gonna love! ❤️
Wow, great vid and thanks for sharing. I've been on Half Dome once with cables but never to Clouds Rest. Looks like Ive got to get up there!
Yes Shannon! Clouds Rest is without doubt our favorite view in the whole park, and a beautiful climb as well. Definitely a must for your next trip!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thanks for getting back to me and be safe out there!
Read all the comments before, couldn't agree more! Going to learn that Prussik knot and go for it. You guys are the best!
Yes Rob!!! So stoked that you're doing it. Please let us know how it goes. We know you're going to crush it, but just want to hear your joy after you do!
So awesome, you two! Yosemite is our favorite place ever - love seeing it through your lens!
Yes Katie!! Yosemite is just incredible, and really meaningful to us and our relationship in all kinds of ways too. So happy to bring you a different perspective on it!
they kill it, really do with video, and suck you in with the vibe, its different from anything out there too
One of my dream hikes. You guys are in beastmode!!!!!

Be careful!!!!!!
This is motivating me to go on my long run today! You guys are awesome!
Yes Rachel! Thanks so much for telling us that -- it really motivates us to be motivating to others. Crush that run!!
You guys are awesome! What an inspiration. Its been 20 years since I have been up half dome. Never done clouds rest. I am going to go.
Nice hike guys. Thank you for sharing. Be safe.
Thank you -- it's really our pleasure to share. Too much joy in these incredible places to keep it to ourselves! ❤️
Loved the tracks you played on the way up Clouds Rest!
Thanks Ashwin! We're going to make that one available for download later this year -- hopefully in November! ❤️
omg Adam always picks the crazy spot for snack! I love you guys so much!
Haha thanks so much! That makes us really happy to hear. And you're right about those snack spots -- this one was almost too crazy even for Adam. He was having a hard time eating looking down at that drop! 😂
Fantastically beautiful hike you guys. The only state I haven't visited this side of the Mississippi River. Keep kicking ass you two!!! Cheers.
Thanks Douglas! You have wisely saved the best for last, but we're going to convince you that it is time for your visit!
@@douglasfortune3307 Thank you, that is very nice of you!
I felt vertigo ++++ watching Adam in 4K having his snack at the top of Half Dome and the sheer drop beneath! Amazing videography, as always! Well done on passing 20k subscribers too!
Thanks so much! Yes that drop was crazy -- one of the only times even Adam's ever felt a bit dizzy looking over an edge. What a place!! ❤️
Not much to say except I'm jealous......You 2 are sure ROCKING it.
Thanks so much, Riley -- we're very appreciative, and definitely don't take it for GRANITE!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard you should try both ways and see ;)
The simple prusik inspired lots of confidence. Eg on the way down I was running face first, and didn’t take out my partner when I wiped out laughing.
Anyway much
@@TimothyLaurent Thanks much, and same to you!
literally getting vertigo at my desk watching the half dome footage. Great vid as always guys!
Uhoh I hope you’re not on a Zoom work call because if you fall out of your chair from the vertigo we assume zero responsibility 🤷🏻♀️😜
@@LiveHardxLoveHard HAHAHA!
@@IP2u Totally agree, and the hiking gods are going to reward your positivity with more epic adventures!
Awesome place... Nice job for both of you guys!!!
Thanks Antonio! Yosemite never disappoints! ❤️
Always love the clarity of your filming! I’ve done it many times with the cables down but only Half Dome.
You guys literally rocked the rock and beyond Left me on cloud nine ♥️u guys
Haha thanks Raymond -- you would love this trail, and you could totally handle the difficulty too. It's just about exactly a double Baldy!!
Great adventure hike and stunning scenery. wish I could be there one day. excellent editing !
Thank you so much -- very glad you liked this one! And we believe that you will be here one day. It is the kind of place that calls to certain people, and eventually that call will bring you. ❤️
Amazing! I felt like I was There. Haven`t seen Clear Sky`s in So Long! Thanks!
Thanks Bill! We felt so, so lucky to have such a perfectly clear day. It was really amazing all the way around -- to be all alone on both peaks, and to have gorgeous views through the whole valley. So glad we could bring you along on this one -- it was a day we're going to remember for a very long time. ❤️
I was at Yosemite today for the first time. it is impressive! So are you guys! Keep up the amazing content!
Blessed is sooo right. I thank you for sharing because well I may not ever get the chance because of my health.. Love Yosemite!!

So epic!!! Definitely one of my favorites you guys have done. Those views are insane! Can't wait to go to Yosemite myself some day.
Thank you both for such amazing videos of amazing adventures and your amazing energy. I think I got amazing in there enough. Keep ‘‘em coming!!!
It's amazing how amazing you are at using the word amazing. We appreciate you. 😂 😂 ♥️
That's a crazy hike! Thanks for sharing.
Love your energy and truly happy smiles! Going to Yosemite tomorrow for a lot smaller hike.
Thank you so much! And we are so jealous. Yosemite is one of our favorite places on this earth. Give her a lot of love from us ♥️
Ahh the views!! The shots are amazing especially on the climb up...scary wind! Haha would love to do that but would also be quite anxious!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard definitely!
