What a legend, to be able to not only deliver on his promise but to also set you up where everyone was successful on Public Land is by no means a small feat. Well done Richard
Osceola public land as well, as a public land hunter you will never see as many people in the woods as you will on opening day of turkey season and you will never see as many out of state license plates on FL public land. I pretty much gave it up after some jackass blew the head off of my hen decoy, its just not worth dealing with the people for me.
There is no way that’s Richards first crack at presenting on a show like this. He could easily slot in as a regular presenter for you guys and wouldn’t look out of place. Awesome work. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
Some guys would think that because it’s their TV show, they get first crack. It shows the type of guy Steve is. Wanted his friend to keep his streak alive more than he wanted a bird for his show
He's done the same thing with moose in Alaska before. IIRC last season's moose hunt where someone else got a moose. They discussed on the podcast that it was supposed to be Steve's shot, and he gave it up to a friend.
First of all, someone call GQ, because the Latvian Eagle was READY for the front cover when Richard was making them their meal. And second, hats off to the camera people for some seriously impressive, cinematic shots in the fog on one of the most impressive hunts yet.
Richard should have given y’all a thermacell lol. The last line Richard said in the video perfectly describes Florida’s WMAs. “ it’s not perfect, but it’s something”
Being from Michigan and spending a ton of time in southern Florida I can really appreciate this episode. Everyone knows the fishing is great down there but few know how good the hunting can be. Southern Florida is a gem. Nice work, fellas.
I grew up hunting Southeast Georgia. Since moving to Florida, I have hunted Big Cypress for Whitetails and Palm Coast, Jasper and Live Oak for Turkeys and Deer. Florida may not have 250 pound monster bucks or Thanksgiving sized Wild Turkeys...But its a challenging hunt and trying to use tactics from elsewhere here will get you frustrated. An episode where yall go after Hogs and pythons would be hilarious. Would love to see Steve whip up something with a big Burmese nope rope.
I have been a fan of Meateater for years and continually enjoy your content. Thank you for including Florida in your show. I hope you enjoyed what she has to offer. Cant wait to see you include more of Florida in Meateaters future.
Great episode, its pretty awesome to see you guys chasing birds in some of the WMA's I frequent down here . Osceola's are notorious for becoming ghosts once they leave the roost. Too many predators for them to be so noisy on the ground. All the birds I have ever called in came in completely silent, only after gobbling at first light while still on the roost. Richard knows his stuff , he is a good ambassador for us South Florida outdoorsman. Applied some of his approaches to scouting he's shared on other podcast's and they have worked out well for me.
I love Meateater. Probably my favorite show. From the comments I might be one of the few that doesn’t get the Turkey hype. Great season so far but these ones I wanna watch on a Sunday afternoon for a nap
As a man who married a Venezuelan lady, I was sooo stoked to see arepas featured on my favorite show!!!! If you havent had arepas or empanadas South American style, make that happen asap. Life changing!
I'm in the Army and work at a hospital near D.C. I heard two nurses talking about how she would have missed some patient info if the other nurse wouldn't have taken a second look at the record. I stopped and said "a fresh set of eyes finds more beans," and they both agreed without a second thought.
My family is from Fla. My whole life, I have heard hunting stories from the homestead, and they are always awesome! At one point, my family had thousands of acres that most considered useless except for orange groves and cattle but there was always so much more to offer. Hunting being the main one.
Steve said, People of MI go to FL but mostly to the beach. I did that but I can't get enough of the great outdoors of FL's interior. I don't hunt, sporting clays is my thing. I love watching hunting all over. Especially on Meat Eater. Thanks Steve.
Idk this looks super fun to me. The lack of gobbles takes away some of it. But that environment is second to none. It is more like a jungle than some hard woods
This is why they should hunt the southeast more. Just great content and great game opportunities. Meateater should come hunt North Carolina! Big Bears, Big Deer, Big Turkeys, Big Gamefish.
this man is a god amongst men consistently harvesting on public land, I've hunted public land since I was 12 (I'm 23) and I've only ever shot two does and a turkey, but that turkey I'm damn proud of considering I was sideways in a brush pile waiting for him to run past me
Wow! Richard really came through..what a great hunt!!! Only thing that could make it better would be Steve toting the old BPS! I know there’s sponsorship obligations but there’s no way I could leave the ol girl behind…
Thanks Big Steve and Janis. And Little Richard. This was a good hunt. Thanks for all the tips. Although it would have been nice to know what kind and gun you guys were using. Oh and the food looked tarrific. Thanks guys. Everybody was tarrific. Especially the turkey. 😂 😂. You Turkeys HAPPY THANKS GIVING TO THE WHOLE GANG WHO PUTS THESE VIDEOS TOGETHER.
Another good one. We visit our friends on the panhandle every year. It’s all boating and fishing and I love it coming from Illinois. But I just can’t stop looking at all those wooded pines and thinking man I’d like to hunt there. Thanks again love what you guys do.
Awesome Episode! The amazing land and heritage!! Like you said the tourists are all on the beaches while you're experiencing the best part of Florida! 👍🏻👍🏻
What a great hunt thank you for sharing the experience with us Amazing what can be done to save some of our natural habitats if people are willing to work hard enough Great job and good luck for all the upcoming seasons
Steve said it best about Florida at the end of the episode. FL isn't just Disney, Beaches, and Florida Man...there are more undisclosed areas that the seasonal visitors and tourists just don't understand and never really will.
I would be waist deep in the Androscoggin river up north New Hampshire near the Canadian border fly fishing for rainbows and salmon...every evening near sunset...there will be a moment when the mosquitoes get absolute INSANE...LOUD AND EATING YOU ALIVE. If you can let them feed on you and stay focused you will witness something cool.....every fish in that river will start rising. The sound is incredible...lasts about 30 seconds..maybe 45...the river comes alive with fish jumping. Like clockwork every evening. Pretty cool. Out there with loons and mama black bear and her babies and moose crossing 40 yrds from you. Some of my best times in my life!! Even getting eaten by those mosquitoes!!
I don’t know if Meateater reads these comments but the UFC fight Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera was on a podcast and said that he would do anything to go hunting and this was the first channel I thought of that could take him
i just got my huntinf lc for the first time. i live here in central FL and im starting with a turkey hunt with absolutely no knowledge or help. wish me luck! lol
if it takes points to hunt there, how does richard get one opening day several years in a row? I lived there for 7 years 30 years ago. shot 2 nice ones , hard hunting for sure. good show.
What a legend, to be able to not only deliver on his promise but to also set you up where everyone was successful on Public Land is by no means a small feat. Well done Richard
Amen dude
Double Amen 👍🏽
Ya for sure! Also to be confident enough to shoot the first bird because you know you'll get them on birds. Also how good did his cooking look!
Triple Amen
Osceola public land as well, as a public land hunter you will never see as many people in the woods as you will on opening day of turkey season and you will never see as many out of state license plates on FL public land. I pretty much gave it up after some jackass blew the head off of my hen decoy, its just not worth dealing with the people for me.
More Richard content, please. That guy needs to become a regular. Awesome hunt.
100%
There is no way that’s Richards first crack at presenting on a show like this. He could easily slot in as a regular presenter for you guys and wouldn’t look out of place. Awesome work. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
Few will understand how impressive this hunt was. Well done Richard! Congratulations guys!
Richard is dope, It’d be cool to see more content with him.
I like to see you guys make a meal after every hunt on this show. Puts the whole process into perspective.
This. I love seeing the different ways we humans enjoy all our wild game
its a staple on almost episode! Def one of my favorite parts.
agree
Perspective*
I’m just trying to help you out
100%
Bring Richard on as part of the MeatEater team. The guy is really impressive, and a natural on camera.
Didn't expect to see the reina pepiada here today. As a Venezuelan, dammed I am proud. Thanks Richard. Appreciated.
let's goo!! Made me smile
Fear of failure is one attitude that will keep you at the same point in your life.
Some guys would think that because it’s their TV show, they get first crack. It shows the type of guy Steve is. Wanted his friend to keep his streak alive more than he wanted a bird for his show

Richard is a standup guy and total badass. Congratulations to all
Richard should have given y’all a thermacell lol. The last line Richard said in the video perfectly describes Florida’s WMAs. “ it’s not perfect, but it’s something”
Steve just a thought, I'd love to see a michigan white tail episode, from your old stomping grounds.
Go Blue!
It’s a turkey hunt, and as much as he doesn’t admit it, these are Steve’s favorite hunts.
There mine by far
Being from Michigan and spending a ton of time in southern Florida I can really appreciate this episode. Everyone knows the fishing is great down there but few know how good the hunting can be. Southern Florida is a gem. Nice work, fellas.

Always a pleasure watching these two guys hunting together, congrats fellas
The sound mixing and audio was excellent in this episode.
Guys enjoying their hobbies and each other's company. That's how it is supposed to be 👍

Richard is a monster! the dedication is impressive on all levels.
I love Meateater. Probably my favorite show. From the comments I might be one of the few that doesn’t get the Turkey hype. Great season so far but these ones I wanna watch on a Sunday afternoon for a nap
The humbleness he showed i am truly appreciative of great video

Turkey hunting is by far my favorite. Super interesting animals and so cool to watch. Great content as always
I don’t get it.
Welcome to Florida! Id love to see y’all go after some more Florida game.
My family is from Fla. My whole life, I have heard hunting stories from the homestead, and they are always awesome! At one point, my family had thousands of acres that most considered useless except for orange groves and cattle but there was always so much more to offer. Hunting being the main one.
Especial way to make us dream about all the adventures the you share with us, thank you guys
South Florida boy here. That was a fantastic hunt. I knew exactly what area they were and I’ve only killed 10 birds in 20 years out there.
Steve said, People of MI go to FL but mostly to the beach. I did that but I can't get enough of the great outdoors of FL's interior. I don't hunt, sporting clays is my thing. I love watching hunting all over. Especially on Meat Eater. Thanks Steve.
I love watching these guys hunt my home state. Even in NE Florida the turkeys barely ever gobble. Makes it mentally challenging in the spring
Idk this looks super fun to me. The lack of gobbles takes away some of it. But that environment is second to none. It is more like a jungle than some hard woods

Let's see more of this dude. This was an amazing hunt. Blew my expectations out of the water.
As a S FLA native I like seeing hunting content from our unique area. Another great score for the Meateater team.
Gonna open a beer and watch later at night!!
Same. Can’t wait to get off work and enjoy it. Had to pause it for later lol
That sounds like a plan for me as well! Enjoy work brothas I'm back at it
Yep
Rich is the best, which is why he's the FL Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Chapter Chair.
That was a good one... I'm guessing (hoping) we see Richard show up in an episode somewhere down the road.
Wow! Richard really came through..what a great hunt!!! Only thing that could make it better would be Steve toting the old BPS! I know there’s sponsorship obligations but there’s no way I could leave the ol girl behind…
Florida definitely has more to offer than beaches and Disney. It is a very fun place to hunt.
The lighting throughout this episode is so damn cool looking. what a place !
Thanks Big Steve and Janis. And Little Richard. This was a good hunt. Thanks for all the tips. Although it would have been nice to know what kind and gun you guys were using. As a florida hunter , THERMACELL !!! Keeps the mosquitos at bay . Great job.
Those things are amazing kept the bugs off me in the SC swamps and i usually get ate alive
I hope there’s 50 seasons of this show
Richard is the man that’s for sure. Love the ole swamp and stomp
I really liked this episode, being I've grown up here and hunted most of my life here.
That grill is spotless...I feel like I need to clean mine now!!!!
Thank you again Steve ,,,
Great job
What a great hunt thank you for sharing the experience with us Amazing what can be done to save some of our natural habitats if people are willing to work hard enough
Great job and good luck for all the upcoming seasons
Enjoyed this one and the additional time spent on the food.
Those dishes look BALLER!
Wow they looked good!
Thanks for sharin…
PS . Eagle needs a haircut…
😂😂😂
Steve said it best about Florida at the end of the episode. FL isn't just Disney, Beaches, and Florida Man...there are more undisclosed areas that the seasonal visitors and tourists just don't understand and never really will.
You should take a trip to the Yucatan to hunt Ocellated Turkey. They are smaller than Eastern Wild Turkey, but they are gorgeous!
Loved this episode, need more richard on the show!
Great episode! I can’t wait until the big banger episode(s) at the end of the season!
That FL CAMO is awesome !
Great job fellas
I would be waist deep in the Androscoggin river up north New Hampshire near the Canadian border fly fishing for rainbows and salmon...every evening near sunset...there will be a moment when the mosquitoes get absolute INSANE...LOUD AND EATING YOU ALIVE. Ooommmggg I can't freakin wait, here in Florida we get to turkey hunt first!!! 2nd day of March I'll be turkey hunting, no question!!!
I like to hunt with the freezer empty. It puts the pressure on. Nicely said dude.
Sou se fã. Já vi seu documentário na Netflix várias vezes...
I discovered you a couple of mths ago saw the video intro got my attention didn't even know who you were turns out a Legend
Hey Steve! Do you plan on going to mexico for the ocellated to get a world grand slam? That would be one amazing vid!
I think they actually planned a trip but it fell through because of the outfitters style of hunting
I’m sitting in a tree stand right now in FL and these birds have walked in my n me more often than not. Of course that’s in deer season.
"Brought to you by Thermacell"
haha good to see the meateater boys in the swamp
Shoutout to Richard for rocking the FL palmetto camo
The palm tree camo is awesome
Janis is back. Yeah baby!

I don’t know if Meateater reads these comments but the UFC fight Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera was on a podcast and said that he would do anything to go hunting and this was the first channel I thought of that could take him
Yani is looking like a accountant in the cooking part i almost didnt recognize him 😂
Another great video as per usual
We need to see more of Richard..
i just got my huntinf lc for the first time. i live here in central FL and im starting with a turkey hunt with absolutely no knowledge or help. wish me luck! lol
Arepas!!! Brilliant!!
Watch out for Wally Gator!
if it takes points to hunt there, how does richard get one opening day several years in a row? I lived there for 7 years 30 years ago. shot 2 nice ones , hard hunting for sure. good show.
Nice video. Good hunt, the name of food in México is Gorditas
Great video. Any chance/place we can get dudes recipe? That looked phenomenal
My hatred for hunting near mosquitos and spiders gives a no go to this type of hunt but fun to watch
Get a thermacell, I was skeptical but they work like a charm
If there are turkeys hanging out by water I’ve seen them called in with a duck call lol crazy what turkeys will react to sometimes lol.
Excelentes lances de cazerias amigos saludos chebres caza de pavos
Great Hunt Bro's 🎉
JO JO IN VT 💞
I wonder if Steve will go on a gator hunt. Amazing video.
Been waiting for a Meat Eater Deer meat for dinner Colab 💯
If you can hunt in Florida, you can hunt anywhere else. Florida tough.
😊 I thoroughly enjoy this content 👍👍
