Many years ago, i grew up without a father, thank you Imperial Japanese navy. At 13 yoa, I was reading an Outdoor Life magazine and found author Jack O'Connor. He became my mentor/foster dad/hunting professor. Steve's mastery of all things hunting and the respect he shows to the animals he hunts and the environment rates right up there with Jack. I expect another young lad growing up as I did, may just adopt Steve as their foster dad. I have read all of Steve's books and watch and re-watch his youtube videos. At the age of 78, I have had the pleasure of reading Robert Ruark, John Jobson, O'Connor and many others. Steve rates right up there with the best of them. I hope to live long enough to enjoy more enlightened and thoroughly entertaining work.
Had the pleasure of bumping into Carl in those same woods on a different hunt. Nothing like keeping the tradition of wilderness adventures preserved for future generations.
I’m a New Mexican and I can say although I haven’t hunted in other states, hands down New Mexico has some of the most diverse public land hunting you can do. Love seeing my favorite hunter hunting in my home.
Man, people don't see this side of hunting often. It's so refreshing to see hunters share this same beautiful take on the world and nature. I didn't have a dad like this growing up to teach me these kinds of things but luckily through the Military, good friends, and people like Steven, I've learned just enough to hopefully teach my sons some things someday. Cheers to you Steven.
Guys. I hope this format is giving you the money you need. It's awesome your able to provide these shows on UA-cam. I love being able to see your episodes free for us, like this. Keep up what I believe is the best hunting programming in the world.
I know we are here for the hunting but it would be cool to get some more footage of camp, eating etc... just a little more as to what goes into the whole hunt.
Beautiful back country landscape, Steve back in a hunting video & classic MeatEater video/narration doesn't get any better! Looking forward to a new season of the hunting show!
All the amazing hunts Steve does, I get excited when I see a turkey episode. I know it’s Steve’s favorite hunt, and his enthusiasm shines in these shows.
The best part is I have a wild Turkey breast on my BBQ wrapped in foil with potatoes, onion, garlic, ext... It is one of the last prices of Turkey we have left because it is the most plane. Great episode. Thank you and God Bless.
Man I love these videos! Much support from Sardinia Italy!🇮🇹 My grandfather used to be a real old school woodsman down here and I was lucky enough to get exposed to that life as a kid. Now that I’m a little more grown meat eater and camping get me through that nature fever i get every month! 😂
Awe inspiring as always THANKS for taking us along... that talk over supper gave me chills... and WHAT YOU GUYS DO TO PROMOTE CONSERVATION AND HUNTING IS COMMENDABLE 👏 👍 👌
While I'm happy to see the Season 11 episodes getting added to UA-cam as it's more convenient to play on my TV, many commenters seem to have missed that all of Season 11 has been live on the MeatEater website for 10 months.
Started reading my copy of A SAND COUNTY ALMANAC just last week. I bought it in 1970. I don't remember how many times I've read it. Very good each time!!
Ive always loved turkey hunting. I hunt whitetail every year but I dont like turkey or chicken and wont eat it so I havent gone Turkey hunting in probably 20 years. Something so majestic about a gobbler in the spring. I miss those moments.
I'm excited for this episode because it feels like it will be old school, all about the hunting and what you're dealing with and thinking about. SR is such a great host I'm usually happy to hear him talk. The coffee or whatever is less interesting to me. Take it from the man.
Those big ol ponderosa are beautiful for sure, but the stuff from the NW is just as good and far more plentiful. The only way anyone*** should be able to harvest one of those monsters is if they do it all by hand, and it goes into a traditional timber framed home that remains in a family trust and can't be sold
I would love to see Steve's kids in some episodes of Meat Eater and the logistics of taking kids hunting with the challenges it brings, especially long away from home trips like this one possibly.
Love this, but the Gila is not the oldest protected park in the world, Bogd Khan Uul Biosphere Reserve is in Mongolia in 1778 is the oldest. Its a big world out side of the US!!
After raising a turkey... I really would rather hunt them. They're a PITA 😂 can't say I've had anything else mess with my chicken flock though since Mr Turkey learned he could take on about anything small
Those comments about being worried if other people come to the Gila are in regards to hunting videos causing more pressure in areas... as you see as the video goes on they harvest 3 birds so its not a dismal place to hunt turkeys.
Its good to see Steven back
For sure
He is not replaceable. He is and always will be MEATEATER.
Steven is the man! However I wouldnt mind more of Clay Newcomb
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏾👏🏾
@@anthonybui1531💯👍 Clay and Cal are my favs
I love that Steven is back! ❤
Is very nice to see you more often, Steven 😊

Hope you’re still doing well and in good health sir

A Sand County Almanac is one of my very favorite books. I re-read it chapter-by-chapter, month-by-month every year.
Nice seeing Steve back again. I hope to see Steve and Cal hunt together.
Season 11 has two episodes with Steve and Cal! What a great time
I'm from New Mexico. The Gila is great. Thanks Steve, we love your videos.

You know it’s a great trip when you’re already planning for the next time. Nice show

nothing better to do with your time?@HITMEUPONTELE_GRAMMeat_Eater1
they're rich they don't give a shit
Without a shadow of a doubt this is my favourite series ever
Beautiful back country landscape, Steve back in a hunting video & classic MeatEater video/narration doesn't get any better! Looking forward to a new season of the hunting show!
Miss the "I live to hunt & hunt to live"
I had gotten so used to hearing Rinella's voice narrating these, great to see him back
All the amazing hunts Steve does, I get excited when I see a turkey episode. I know it’s Steve’s favorite hunt, and his enthusiasm shines in these shows.

Love seeing Steve back
Great to see Karl again! Went to junior high with him and spent summers fishing in northern MI.
Love seeing Steve back in his element
Started reading my copy of A SAND COUNTY ALMANAC just last week. I bought it in 1970. I don't remember how many times I've read it. Very good each time!!
These shows always help me relax.
Got my first big game tag ever! Turkey for this fall in AZ. Can’t wait.
Another great episode, Steve. Your perspective and narration brings the whole video together!
The music used by the production guys is incredble. Jeremiah Johnson vibes. I fricken love it.
Awesome!!! I can't get enough of Steve videos. I guess you could say I GOBBLE them up! Heyyyyyyy.
Congrats you two on two beautiful birds, can't believe that there is another Malcolm out there that is not related, that's cool

Man I freaking love this show.
Such a great episode!
Watching from 🇿🇦. Good to see Steven is back🫡
"If I were a turkey, I'd live right here...but I wouldn't call back to you"
I could watch Steve hunt an talk all day. Just wish I could get the chance to join him on a hunt
This is my favorite into so far, excellent production 🤙🙏✌️🫡
I’ve been to the Gila Mountains. Beautiful country.
If I was a turkey I'd live right there too Steve 😂😂 ❤ I love your narration, you know your stuff👌🏻
Phteves Back....yeeeehaaaaa!! love all your work sir!
New Mexico is beautiful!
Skeeterville! What a day!
Arrrrgh! It's a LONG wait til May!
This is very similar to the old episode of new mexico turkeys. Both are great.
It might be a reupload, saying this having not watched this video yet
I’m sorry, this isn’t technically a reupload. This was part of the season that aired on their website and they are just now putting it on UA-cam
@@themilepodcast1132 season 4 or something they go here, quote aldo leopold, hunt with same guy. Still a great episode. Steve kills 2 jakes
Hope to see more trips with Steve 🙏🏼
Great stuff. Getting closer to sealing the deal every day.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and everyone else and I don't mind your re-runs
Steven is back❤
Congratulations everyone
Helllll yeah!!!! Dang i wanna turkey hunt now!!! I mean i always do but especially now!!
I’ve got a fall turkey tag for AZ. Very excited.
That was quality turkey hunting. nice work.
These 2 sound so much alike it’s crazy
great episode....exactly how Ive always turkey hunted....lots of walking and calling.
Considering how far away it is, it's surprising how similar looking that is to parts of Eastern WA
Awesome boys!
Love Aldo Leopold. His descriptive prose is phenomenal.
Ill be the those mountains tomorrow for opening day for deer. Wish me luck. Let's go!!
Good luck! What a beautiful place.
7:40 those bears be vibing
Gobble Gobble Mr. Rinella!!!
Would love to see a MeatEater turkey hunt with bow sometime. Heck even crossbow.
More Steve episodes please😊
😅good to see Steve drinking some water ,lol
intrinsic value, well done sir!
Johnny Sinns slaying turkey meat now too
FINALLY some Rinella!
Steve can't get enough of NM
Sweet, nice to see Steve in my backyard d
I already watched this episode 3 times, but what the hell, if you are going to post on youtube I will watch again.
Those big ol ponderosa are beautiful for sure, but the stuff from the NW is just as good and far more plentiful. The only way anyone*** should be able to harvest one of those monsters is if they do it all by hand, and it goes into a traditional timber framed home that remains in a family trust and can't be sold
Been turkey hunting in the mountains for a few years now. I see more bears than turkeys but it's fun to explore. Challenging
As long as meateater gets their content so they can continue to make money. Thats all that matters to Steve...
Best episode ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hire that guy Steve!!!!! He seems very knowledgeable and reminds me of you.
keep em coming
Great work
Yall could have seen this a year ago on the website.. lol
Hahahahahhahahahahahaha
So amazing wildernis❤️ greetings from europe
I would love to see Steve's kids in some episodes of Meat Eater and the logistics of taking kids hunting with the challenges it brings, especially long away from home trips like this one possibly.
Another great episode with Steve.
God it’s good to see this
You actually inspired me to go spearfish in
Didn’t mean to add the in
I want cool weather and woods. Right now
I watch this video beacouse of Steven
Stevennn W Episode
Hey Steve I would love those feathers
Next hunting video either in Kansas or Oklahoma
Love this, but the Gila is not the oldest protected park in the world, Bogd Khan Uul Biosphere Reserve is in Mongolia in 1778 is the oldest. Its a big world out side of the US!!
After raising a turkey... I really would rather hunt them. They're a PITA 😂 can't say I've had anything else mess with my chicken flock though since Mr Turkey learned he could take on about anything small
Nice but! I order a scope from y’all Saturday the 2, it’s been a week and still shows only “label created” not in the hands of the carrier yet??
Thank you, finally showing in hands of carrier right after this post‼️good job y’all‼️
Those comments about being worried if other people come to the Gila are in regards to hunting videos causing more pressure in areas... as you see as the video goes on they harvest 3 birds so its not a dismal place to hunt turkeys.
I wish we had wild turkey here in the uk .
Watch it while you can cuz he doesn’t leave actual meateater episodes up for too long
Agree, turkey nuts are gross. Neighbor had me over to try "turkey fries" once. Couldn't get that taste out of my mouth for a week.
Are meat eater episodes aired exclusively on UA-cam now?
How do you keep the meat cold if you are moving around spot camping?
I could tie millions of flies with one turkey. I need a turkey hunter friend.
Go get you one next spring!
MUITO BOA A CAÇADA AOS 🦃🦃👏👏
