I just installed mine today on my '23 Tremor! Got it from Amazon and made sure it was genuine and it is. Mine was not sliding as easily as yours shows in the video but once I bent the "shark fin tab" over a smidge it worked perfectly! It just needed a bit more room for the FRP piece to clear sliding against the rubber/plastic bushing and the stamped "bump" on the plate. Love it!
I purchased one of these seatback release kits and installed it in my 2023 F150 Lariat. It fit like a glove and worked just as in the video. It truly is Built Right. Great product at a great price. Now I have easy access to the amp and subwoofer, the seat releases and closes easily.
Outstanding video detailing how to install and troubleshoot your rear seat release. Without the video as reference I wouldn't have had the easy task so clearly illustrated. Great product and it works well. Wish I had known about your release for my last three F150's.
Easy to install. I have an F350 super crew with the B&O 10-speaker sound system. In my case, there is no available space behind the seat as the factory subwoofer is there. Just pointing out that not all trucks have extra space behind the seat. I installed the quick release bracket anyway but not really useful for me.
I had a HECK of a time trying to reach the release on my 2015 F150 XL. I removed the bottom pivot bolt to the back of the seat. This allowed me to get to the seat release. Thanks for a great informative video!
Thanks for the demo. I have to confess as simple as your instructions are, the red color of the tab on the illustration threw me. For a minute or two I thought I was missing a part. Once installed I found I had to slam the seat back pretty firmly to get it to latch. Seems to be working great now. Great product!
If you are doing this on a super cab remove the bolt in the bottom corner of the seat back and push that corner towards the back of the truck then you can get your hand in there with no problem this works on all aluminum body f serious truck.
Installed on a 2023 F150 Lariat supercrew. I lubricated the latch mechanism with some oil and worked the latch a few times to make it loosen up a bit. Great product that works! 🔧
Hardest part of the install is making sure you are trying to grab the latch to fold the seat forward, and not the sliding bar that goes across the bracket on the bulkhead wall. I was struggling since it’s hard to see. It’ll be an easy latch to pull. So if you are having a hard time releasing it, feel further up the seat because you are trying the wrong thing. After that it was a piece of cake to install. I installed it on my Ford F150 Lightning Lariat. There is a speaker and other stuff back there so a huge amount of room.
I bought this for my 2021 supercab. Great product. Although if I could recommend anything to anyone with a supercab and to the gentleman in the video, skip the wrench loop hack to try to release the seat for the first time. I played with it for 10 minutes and just scraped up my knuckles because no grown man will be able to fit his hand back there. The supercab backrest doesn't move at all. Just simply remove the 13mm bolt at the hinge of the backrest and seat bottom and it allows you move the backrest enough to look back there and easily find the release “pencil eraser” and even release it with your finger.
This went in quickly with such great instructions. I did, however, have trouble getting the lock to engage again. This is a Ford issue. I took a utility knife and carved some plastic from the receiver, oiled up all the moving parts. Then it locked into place.
Nice product. It works! (Especially if you pay attention to the instructions). Only issue I have is that the seat back will never lock with the seat in the down position, but I can live with access to the storage area if I only use it with the seat up.
What a great idea! Your video is excellent and the seat release is easy to install. I did find that the shark fin got bent while locking it into the back bracket. The release section may not be centered against the rear bar bracket correctly. I took it apart, bent the fin back and made sure that the release and its bracket was as far over as possible. It seemed to solve the problem. Thanks for a great product!
Do you make a latch replacement strap or kit for the rear passenger seat latch on the 2015 F150? The strap is missing on mine and I can’t release the latch to lower the seat to get to my jack. 🤷🏼♂️ The dealer says they don’t even show the latch in their computer, but it’s there, and it’s shown in my owners manual.
Bought one of these for my 2024 F150 supercrew. I had to modify it. Between the 2 bolts, there is an insert that dips below the metal plate. I had to drill a hole for that. Otherwise it wouldn’t have attached. Realizing it now. Because I have dogs. I put a cover over the seats. It actually holds the seat back.
Does it work for passenger side too? I bought a 2018 and it's missing the strap to pull the backseat to get to the jack. I'm thinking of ordering 2 kits if they're the same.
I had less frustration opening the back seat the first time, than i have after the install. Went in as the PERFECT video said. My issue came when i attempted to relatch the back part while lifting the lower seat also. Latch is open, didn't touch the rear bar. Now don't know where to #1 place the bar to catch the latch. And #2 I oiled and cycled the latch several times.. Still won't line up to latch
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your RSR Rick, at the end of this comment I've linked to a video with a few troubleshooting steps that you can take to make sure the bar is in the right spot and the latch is grabbing it. We also find that once the catch bar on the wall behind the seat is positioned properly, pushing the seat back into place firmly with your hand on the center of the middle seat (as opposed to the driver's rear) can make a big difference. If it still isn't working for you after trying the troubleshooting steps in this video below, please reach out to our customer service team directly. Ive got a 2017 supercab and my girlfriend gote the release for Christmas at my request. I didnt realize there was a difference in how the seats attached to the rear of the cab until i started trying to attach it. Is the release going to work the same for both?
Has anybody had an issue with the crossbar coming up a half an inch after releasing the latch making it so you need to push the crossbar down to get it to close?
yes, you will need to push it down before closing seat or it will not latch. I drilled a small hole in the release pin and put a small, insulated wire through the hole, so I reach back and grab the wire and pull up to release the seat.
Mine installed as easy as you explained on a 2018 F150 King Ranch super crew. Very nice upgrade.to a compartment that was not easily accessible before. Great detailed video on how to and what to expect. Thank you.

Great video. This made it a 5 minute install. Like other commenters… it doesn’t latch as easy as I wish it would. It takes about 5-7 tries. What am I doing wrong?
We’ve found that some latches are just stiff from the factory. Customers have had good results lubricating them and then latching and unlatching a handful of times. Our current shop truck has the same ‘issue’ and without any other action taken, we’ve noticed that it loosens up over time.

I am not sure why Ford doesn’t have one or buys those from built right to put on boards but why would you have to go and put one on? Why don’t Ford do it?
My 2017 SuperCrew has a loop of black webbing on the side of the seat back on passenger side. Pull that loop to access the storage space on that side. This kit makes it possible to access the space behind the driver's side and center rear seat.
This can be used on: - 2009 - 2014 F-150/Raptor Supercrew: These models can utilize two latch release kits (one each side of the 60/40 rear seat). - 2015 - 2024 F-150/Raptor Supercab and Supercrew: These models store OEM tool kit behind the passenger side seat and use one latch release kit for the driver's side. - 2017 - 2024 F-250 and F-350 Supercab and Supercrew: These models will utilize a single kit on the driver's side.
FYI, my latch had a rubberized cover on where it tries to seat the pin into the latch, I had to use an xacto knife to pit out the latch rubber, to give the pin room to push the latch into the closing position. 2015 Lariat SuperCrew, great product and instructions otherwise.
Please watch our Rear Seat Release troubleshooting video here: ua-cam.com/video/M3nl_z7t4m0/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared There are a few quick solutions you can try to make the release function properly! Many trucks aren't perfectly identical from the factory, so the OEM latch that the release works with might need to be slightly altered or lubricated to get everything to play nicely.
The pull strap did not work as described. It snaps on the pin but does not stay on. It literally comes off after you snap it on, kinda pointless. The only way I got it to work was to push the shark fin over but not too tight to prevent the strap from moving back and forth.
Sorry to hear this! Some slight adjustments to our bracket and/or the OEM latch base can work wonders. Check out our video for troubleshooting tips, 'should get that issue cleared right up. ua-cam.com/video/M3nl_z7t4m0/v-deo.html

That said, I had one of the originals on my factory new 2018 SCrew and it worked amazingly. Now I have a new-to-me 2019 SuperCab and I have installed another and it works as well as the original. Props on a great, practical design!
This thing broke the latch on my truck. I followed directions to a T. after shutting it very hard the first time, the latch no longer shuts over the bar, if I flush up the bottom trigger to the plastic it doesn't stay shut anymore, it needs to actually go a bit further to actually stay latched. I should have just stuck to using a wrench to open the seat. Do not buy this junk
I wanted to like this. But this thing is a POS! you have to fight that bar every single time you try to latch it back. I can see now why they never show that part in the add. Makes more sense to just leave the back seat unlatched completely

Disregard. After contorting my hand and forcing the seat fabric out of the way I could see what I was doing and got it released.
Any idea why Ford doesn't allow this functionality from the factory? Are there any potential safety concerns with modifying this?

tip. add a shoe string from the strap to the headrest post . easier to grab

Does it work for 250’s?
Sorry, why do I need this? What is the need to un-latch the seatback? I am new to my F150.
It's extra storage space behind the seat. I've got a folding step stool , my socket set and my jumper cables stowed back there.
I am not sure why Ford doesn’t have one or buys those from built right to put on boards but why would you have to go and put one on? Why don’t Ford do it?

I have a 2020 supercrew does this work on both sides?
My 2017 SuperCrew has a loop of black webbing on the side of the seat back on passenger side. Pull that loop to access the storage space on that side. This kit makes it possible to access the space behind the driver's side and center rear seat.
Can this be stall in a super cab?

My "ONLY" Complaint, and it's Just a NIT on my Part is..... The Label on my Bracket was "Installed" Up Side Down???? "IE" The BuiltRight Name Can Not Be Read easily as in this VIDEO. It's a NIT on my Part, But then again I am PICKY. I assume that a Bunch went out like this??? No BIGGIE. Just an FYI for MATT BEENEN and the Crew... Nice Product MATT. Thanks. It's Too Bad that F O R D can't show some Class like this on a $85 K + TRUCK????? Crap, I didn't know they came in Color's? My Bad. Shudda Looked a Bit More. 🤷♂🥱.
Thank you for the feedback, Ken! Noted regarding the label - I'll make sure the guys in back know that it's important (because it is!).
