- How to update navigation maps in Audi #MMI MIB2 system. New maps can be downloaded for free and installed easily on the Audi MMI system. Even if you are using CarPlay or AndroidAuto, Audi MMI maps are used for Traffic Sign Recognition and predictive cruise control. By keeping them up to date you will make sure that those features work as expected.
ℹ️ Prepare empty SD card. Format it with FAT 32 or exFAT file system. Download #maps package, extract it, and copy to the SD card. Insert the card into SD1 port, got o MENU, Setup MMI, System update, SD1, Start #update. Wait 30 to 50 minutes for the update to complete.
🚗 This tutorial was made in Audi A7 (4G) but the same procedure will apply to all MIB2 High navigation units. The same map update is used not only in Audi, but also in Volkswagen, Seat, and Skoda cars.

So I have just updated the maps to newest 2023 maps on my late 2016 A6 C7 and all working perfectly. First i updated the firmware to the latest version which also includes apple car play. from Mr Fix's apple CarPlay update video. I then down loaded the latest version of maps from the link provided and then expanded the files as they were compressed I then opened up the folder and moved the files to a freshly formatted 64 G USB 3.0 memory stick. Just mover the three files. I tried this a number of time and it would still not read the new maps. However this still did not work for me.
I then downloaded clean my drive and checked the new memory and there were some junk files on the stick, even though the stick was brand new. I erased the junk and the new maps were recognised by the car straight away and it worked perfectly. I big thanks you Mr Fix. The 3.0 memory stick in the arm rest works great and really fast probably to 45 mins ish to update. the stick was 6.99 off of amazon and next day delivery

Works perfectly updating 2017/18 once you've done the Android auto/CarPlay Mib update prior. This Mib update also gives Google maps on AA, which is awesome. Audi price for Map update down to €200. Theres an extra km of road near where I live, that's all I would get for €200.

Habe bei meinem A6 Avant 4G (Baujahr 2015) die Firmware und die Karten (von 2017/18 auf 2023/24) dank Ihrer Videos und Anleitungen wunderbar einfach und schnell aktualisiert. Die Zeiten für das Flashen waren auch bei mir so wie in den Videos angegeben. War alles kinderleicht zu installieren dank der Profiarbeit von mr-fix. Vielen Dank!👏👏👏👍

UPDATE: I finally managed to update the maps. The file in the description needs to be extracted, I download 7 Zip software. Once unzipped/extracted, there will be 3 files which you then download/copy onto your SD Card.
Follow the video and you should be good to go 👍🏼 Also, you can drive your car whilst the update is happening. It took 55 mins for mine to be updated.
2016 S7 here. 1. I can't access the Engineering menu using the button combination suggested - Im wondering if the function needs to be enabled in coding first? (I have VCDS) 2. My software version is MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3634 This was installed by a 3rd Party to enable Audi Smart Phone a few years ago. 3. When I try to load updated maps from SD1 i get the "No valid update data was found on the medium" message. Ive heard some stories of users disabling their MMI trying DIY upgrades, so don't want to update the MMI software. Any suggested solutions? Thanks!

Świetna robota @mr-fix, mam obecnie firmware z 2018 roku ale juz z PL menu i lektorem czy jak wykonam tą aktualizację to stracę polskie menu czy region i menu nie ma znaczenia od firmware ? Chciałem zrobic aktualizację bo nie mam carplaya dostępnego w menu. Powiedz mi jeszcze czy spotkałeś się z czymś takim że w przypadku BOSE, w zakładce tone nie było zakładki subwoofer ?
Hi, so both (MIB1 and MIB2) files should be uploaded to SD card or only MIB1? if I try to upload both files my SD card (says that it is 32GB but it has only 29.1GB :D) are missing 32mb and I cannot upload them both.

Hi. I have A7 2015 With this MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663 but when I put the SD card in, it doesn’t load up anything. I’m using a 64gb card as the theres not enough space on a 32gb. I’ve downloaded the European maps
Activation codes found, everything looks fine but MMI update does not recognize SD card at all. Can it be somehow disabled or what could be the reason? When selecting SD as media source, it is found. A6 C7.5

Hi mr-fix unfortunately packed europe maps when trying to install there was a message saying that it did not detect installation packages do you know what could be the reason? test for Audi A4 B9, Train version: MHI2Q_ER_AUG22_P3638 and MU software: 0917

The file I have downloaded is 27GB in a zip file I cant unzip it because i dont have enough space, but a FAT32 will only support a 4GB file? what am i doing wrong?

Zrobiłem identycznie, a system krzyczy że "na nośniku nie znaleziono żadnych danych aktualizacji"
Mapy zainstalowane ale nie działają tak jak powinny tzn. mapa się włącza wszystko ok ale działa tylko chwilę po czym wyskakuje DANE NAWIGACYJNE NIE SĄ UDOSTĘPNIONE najprawdopodobniej jest to spowodowane brakiem klucza aktywacyjnego. W filmie są pokazane 2 jeden kończy się ....01c a drugi ....0ee i nie mam właśnie tego drugiego i tu jest chyba problem. Ma ktoś może jakiś aktywator albo wie jak rozwiązać problem?

I have Audi A7 Competition (2017). Current version of maps is V03959801FC 0157 ECE 2017, SW version MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3634. Will this work for me or not? What is necessary to have allowed etc. before doing this, please?
It would probably help to mention the slightly complicated nature of map version licensing. You cannot go from 2016 to 2022, without actually buying a license from Audi. At best, you could go from 2016 to 2018/2019 with the included factory license. There is also the pirated way of the M.I.B. tool but I am sure we are not supposed to speak about it here 😂

Did not work for me unfortunately. The car doesn't show the update logo. It's in grey. I checked all iso files and it's written correctly on the SD card, but my car doesn't accept it.
Hi I acciedently clicked something in the GEM and now the mmi mib2 it is not functional. I can perform a hard reset but it returns to the main car menu but not buttons work. The radio, navigation, telephone amd media all say they are initializing. Can you direct me to a solution to bring the mmi back to life?

Did you put all the 3 files on the SD card? MIB1, MIB2 and info file. Or do you just take one of the file? :)

Thnx for this one bro!! Really nice job. There is also this issue with cars from 2015 with google maps thats not working anymore, audi has stopped the support for this years of Audis. Is there any work around about this issue? Do you have solution? By google maps navigation in not loading? I have wifi and also a valid subscription.
