Met her and her friends after the Jellyfish gig at T&C Club in 1991. I mentioned I'd seen AAE support The Mission when I lived in Germany. She was lovely and invited me and my mate to a party they were going to. We said we had to catch last train home ......wish we'd gone now. 👍
Gorgeous Julianne singing a beautiful melody with a great band, what else could one wish for? they dont make 'em like this anymore, love her dress, its a pity they changed their romantic image when Tim left,AAE slowly died after that, painful to watch .
Perhaps an element of self-destruction with personnel changes and then alienating their own fans with a very different fourth album, but mainly record company arseholes wanting them to change and become another Texas or something similar. A crying shame, really, as they had so much talent and wrote great songs.
the other thing that no one ever mentions is what happened the following week after that infamous incident. The following week, her and Tim went back and performed Marthas Harbour properly live and absolutely smashed it out of the park. Talk about getting straight back on the horse and showing their critics what they were made of.

Tjeyre showing TOTP 1988 on bbc four atm Not right exactly now this minute but i think its quite heavily repeated alot lol Usually either sun or mon nights?? Not sure.. Anyway BBC FOUR
Isn't it amazing how wonderful "stereo" sounded back in the day. Logically sound quality should have improved greatly since then, but thanks to arsehole companies like "apple" and bluetooth manufacturers who got it into their heads that one speaker is sufficient, we now have a generation of digital "MONO" spazzy's to screw up the quality of the music produced today. High definition digital sound? Yeah right!! It's basically just good ole Medium Wave cleaned up and wearing a tux but underneath it still smells of low fidelity shit. lol
Andrew Walmsley Doesn't matter how old it is Andy, the sound quality is still far superior than anything being produced today and thanks to the likes of yourself, the proof will forever remain now on the internet so that no one forgets. Now.... I'll be really impressed if you have the Tomorrow's World/Radio One simulcast of the 3D stereo experiment they did with Mark Goodier. lol
Agreed Duncan. Just listening to the rhythm of the singing, the pitch and cadence, of some of the words tells me that. I wore out the LP cassette I had (remember them?) listening to it over and over again.

One of the most beautiful voices in music.
💚🎧💚🎧💚
Her vocal performance on this is spellbinding.
Fantastic band. Much underrated and missed. Beautiful lyrics and song.

This, Wild Hearted Woman, and December - been on my playlist for 30 years now, damn - other stuff comes and goes.
Sensational beauty with the voice of an angel and a heart of gold, Julianne ❤️
WoW TOPS 1988 All about eve so indie alternative love it still in 2024. Shame not played much..
Ah my English rose 🌹 with the beautiful haunting voice, have always been in love with Julianne.
Julianne Regan is still going, and Wikipedia has got any latest on her. Such a beautiful haunting track. Made me want to cry.
one of my fav bands ever. such beautiful tracks...
In my 51 years there have only been 3 female singers that give me goosebumps... Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter and Julianne Regan.
There's a few more to be fair 😊
@@m5177 indeed there is. Ann Wilson, Bic Runga, to name but two. But Julianne... when she was on it, man she was something else.
Harriet Wheeler if you're not familar with The Sundays
Check out Loreena Mckennit.
Sandy Denny beats all
This band is so awesome!

They didn't die, they moved on, they grew, it's what true creatives do !
They faded away though didn't they?
Just because bands / artists stop being played on radio or on TV doesn't mean they fade away, true fans will still follow them 😊
amazing band
I still dont understand after all these years they never got bigger than they got.😮
I still ask that question to this day, so far I think it might have been poor management, certainly wasn’t a question of the talent on display.

Things changed for the worse after Tim Bricheno left. Never the same again.
@@cuttlefisch True, but the third album still has some great songs.
Fantastic performance by the sweet adorable Julian Regan
Who is this Julian of which you speak? :-)
@@nickdobb2555 I don't know him either, but apparently he is sweet and adorable so he can't be a bad bloke?🤣🤣
What an absolutely lovely song.
Great recording! Great quality!
Thank you UA-cam rabbit hole.
Perfection
"Singing live" after what happened the first time they appeared on TOTP...
Thanks for reminding of the story around this, just read on wiki, Cheers
Hehe, I watched that when it happened, I still remember the 'WTF???' look on Julianne's face when they couldn't hear anything

Anyway BBC FOUR
Just beautiful.
I prefer the way she sings “Clears” here, over the studio version. 😊
She does have an interesting face, unlike the doll like stars you see today. Come see the wolves....
She sang live here but the band didn't perform live it's recorded backing track
I'm pretty sure the band are performing live - have another listen
@@tachikomakusanagi3744 Do you see any leads or amps? Guitars not live. Still awesome.
Not exactly HQ is it?
1 person has no soul
Make that 2 now those dislikes are morons
The Mission. With a female vocalist. The album this is from is almost track for track "Children"
I was in the same year at school as Julianne
Not the same school though lol, and not even in the same city

Like everything now, all dumbed down. And hard to think this recording is coming up to 30 years old now!

It's got a tux on? MmmMMMmmm, it's got a tux on. It's got a tux on. Lucky man.
Live my arse! shes just singing to the backing track! nothings plugged in.
thats why Gary Davies introduced her as "singing live" you doughnut. 😀 with emphasis on the "singing" bit. Just in case you missed it.
Not live
Nobody played live on TOTP it was all mimed
Nothing is plugged in.
Live vocal
